If Oasis want rhythm guitarists to play bass, that's their choice. It explains why their music sounds like it does and why Oasis aren't a band that features prominently in bass chat. Most of us don't know who the bass player is. The only song I've ever had to learn is Cigarettes and Alcohol. The bass is buried in the mix or probably more likely is just playing one root note per bar. I gave up trying to learn it and just did the above. The 90s was a strange decade for Music, the Madchester scene mainly passed me by.

Hi everyone. I'm selling my mid-2000s Peavey Millennium 4 string active. I've owned it since new, it's only been used out of the house for a few rehearsals so it's in excellent condition. All the electronics are working as they should. It weighs 3.72kg / 8.2lbs and sits really nicely on a strap. The neck is pretty slim so it's an easy player. Here's a full spec sheet from Peavey. I'm based in West Lancashire and collection would be preferred but I'd be happy to drive for an hour or so if you'd like to do a classic service station / train station meet-up.

Hi Gang! Hope everyones good. Putting my Ashdown rig on sale - this is from December 2024 so 6 months old basically and can prove it. Working perfectly and taken out to rehearsal just 3 times, but going digital with the band (Anagram + IEMs) so no use for this sadly. The head comes with cover, mint. Cabs with minimum scratches - enough to feel them with a nail but not cut thru the tolex - I can still remember the trip where this happen and facepalmed myself. Cabs are about 14kg each or so, can carry the whole rig two handed. Tweeters on OFF/MID/Hi on both cabs. Would prefer selling as a rig. If separate: RM 500 EVO III head £400 w/ cover ABM 2x10 EVO IV Pro Line (not the compact) £400 ABM 1x15 EVO IV Pro Line £350 Take the whole rig for £1k and I'll add the foodswitch and cables too. NOTE: Decoloration is only because of having wiped them with a wet cloth to clean the scratches for more accurate picture - they are black all over and even of course.

Aye! Bass players are their own worst enemy - we see it on BC frequently where amazing bassists are dismissed as wannabe lead guitarists, or "playing too many notes and not knowing their place". We have the biggest instruments (unless it's a Steinberger!) and so should wield them, rather than letting the look-at-me guitarists get all the adulation! We need a protest group - Musicians Against Guitarists' Attention-seeking.

Congrats, JazzyJ. I had a red one of these earlier in the year and it had huge output for a passive bass.

Saturday, at the annual Folk in the Woods. It’s the inaugural event of the week-long Ripley Music Festival. It takes place at the Waingroves Community Woodland, a lovely area reclaimed from a coal mining site and managed by local volunteers. My covers band, Top Deck, finished off the day playing 7pm - 8pm. Back line supplied, so I was able to travel by bus with just my Mustang and a few bits. Any money raised goes to the upkeep of the woodlands, so no fees for anyone. However, it was free drinks and food for performers. I got a little bit confused by the paths walking back through the woods to the main road and bus stop. 🤪🍺
