I will and the 3d printed six string. Work has become all consuming so I've done square root of sod-all on a number of printing projects that I want to see through. I might see if I can use October to get some momentum. Rob

One of my boys has this on his Tablet and it's very good. I think he paid a tenner for it, although he doesn't use it much now because he got Cubase and also Cubasis for when he is up and about. Also, he can exchange projects between Cubasis and Cubase. If you want Midi recording, both Cubasis and Audio Evolution are capable of this. I'm not sure the Fender App does Midi recording, but then again it is free and the other two are not. Maybe they plan to introduce it in a future update.

The Link IO looks similar to the iRig, which is only around £30 I think? I had the iRig a few years ago, it did a good job. I've also seen something from TC Helicon called GO Guitar, which is the same idea, but it's £18 on Amazon. You probably won't need any of them, as the Behringer interface should do the job, but if you end up wanting to try that option there are cheaper units than the Fender, which is nice.

From memory (and I don't have a bass to hand) I'm fairly sure playing the ascending riff it has a different note in, than the descending bit (if that makes sense). We used to play it in a weird key to fit the singer so I've no idea what actual notes we played.

Most of the deps I do are for friends and friends of friends. On a dep gig I expect to get the same rate as the rest of the band. I always treat a new set list and playing with a new band as an opportunity to learn new songs, meet with different players and get my foot in the door for more gigs. I've come across some great songs over the years. I don't have a great memory, so I always chart the songs. Just in case. One annoying thing bands sometimes do, send me a set list with MP3's and videos and then play (on purpose or not) different arrangements!!

Update after some more time passed... BOSS Dual Cube Bass LX... barely gets used after all. It's the loudest and the only one I'd consider from the lot if I wanted to play in the park, and it's fun to just trigger the basic rhythm machine to practice, for timing, but I'm not in love with it. I can EQ it to be more pleasant, but I just can't shake this feeling that even with all FX etc turned off, there's 'something' still going on. Between the unit itself and the bluetooth adapter I could have saved around £300... ah well, now I now. For busking I actually have a QTX QR10, rechargeable battery powered "mini PA" speaker. It's not the best sounding bass amp, but it works well enough, and with a little Zoom unit then you can make this sound pretty nice, and it cost me about 1/3-1/2 of what the Boss cost... and this one IS loud enough for busking with a 7-piece band. Caline S8B is great. Small, rechargeable battery, and it can sound very good. I like the 2-channel thing. It lives on a shelf above my computer monitors, the front-facing controls make it ideal for that. But it's the other two that really see a lot of action these days. The Joyo one was the cheapest, and it sounded quite alright. The one drawback was the lack of bluetooth. It does have an AUX socket, so I got a little rechargeable bluetooth receiver for under £10 and now it's bluetooth-equipped And the Headrush FRFR-GO... I've been using it a lot with guitar and multiFX to provide the sounds. I then found this little M-Vave Tank-G... basic FX, nice selection of amp sims and IR cab sims (it can load 3rd party ones too), it runs on an internal rechargeable battery, which is nice to reduce amount pf cables. I normally use it with a guitar wireless system, so the Headrush is wherever (internal battery), with the Tank-G plugged into it, and I can move around. The Tank-G is around £40, and it acts as a USB interface for recording. So with one little speaker, the Tank-G and a phone/tablet you have a pretty portable practice and recording setup. If I had had access to something like this when I was a teenager, I would probably still not have a girlfriend 😂 (ok, slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean ) edit: oh, I forgot, although the Tank-G is designed for guitar, I made a couple of presets for bass that sound quite good through the FRFR-GO

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. So far this tells me that I'm not a million miles away either with the J-tone pickups for now (This is my first year of gigging on the DB. Maybe one day I'll think about laying out more for something else) and my markbass and trace combo as my monitor with a line out to PA (possibly with no bass in my monitor if possible). I hadn't thought about blocking the F holes. I'll look into that.

I've never thought to use F hole blockers. I'm very new to the world of double bass.

Recently got back in to playing bass and have a few gigs coming up. Ive had to relearn a lot of stuff, but surprised at how well I remember it. H2H is one of those ive played 1000's of times (we still do it in my main band where either play keys), but last nigh i isolated the bass from all the songs im learning to give me a chance to play along with the originals without a bass line there. When I listened to this bass line it sounded different to how ive been playing it. I check UGT and YT and everyone seems to play it the same way as I do. It's the run ups in the verses. E, F#, A, B that repeats at the end of every second bar. The isolated bass track sounds like he is playing G# instead of A. Cant believe it's taken me decades to realise this. It sounds wrong got me only because im used to playing the A. all the tabs and videos ive seen also play the A. Can anyone confirm the above? I know the audience won't notice etc, but if it's wrong its wrong.
