  2. Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Since acquiring four Precisions and eying up another plus also needing a Jazz, it’s become surplus. I have an addiction at the moment. I admit it. There I’ve said it. I also need an original Barefaced Compact 15 and an original Midget 😂😂😂😂 Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

  3. I did indeed and it is a great bass 😁 Its price tag does not reflect how well made it is and how good it sounds either. Both my semi acoustics aren’t being used for the simple reason all my work requires Precisions and something with 22 frets.
  4. C’mon everybody. Eddie cochran
  5. I don't have a recording with the bass, nor a sample of the sound. I'm really sorry. But I assure you that it has a very very defined sound and a lot of punch. Very comfortable. Weighs 9.2 lbs. (4.1kg)
  6. I remember sweating like a pig at a rehearsal studio. There was a death metal band in a nearby room, and they finished about the same time as us. They walked out surrounded by a thick mist... I won't mention the delicate aroma of well broiled death metalllers...
  7. Yamaha RBX 6JM John Myung Ruby Red from the 14th of September 1999, now fitted with a way better Glockenklang 3 bands preamp (the original Yamaha preamp will be delivered, but I have no idea if it's working) and a second John Myung signature on the body, which is clear coated, so unremovable! A Dream Theater fan must have bass, but for the others, it's an excellent very heavy bass (5.220 kilos) with a narrower strings spacing at the bridge (16.5 mm) and very very very slightly protruding frets (these 3 facts are well known for this early series alongside the fact that the center of the infinity inlay is at the ... 13th fret, go figure). NO TRADES! NON NEGOTIABLE PRICE! Asking price including fully insured shipping with tracking number, to your home, in these European countries (ask for other countries): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding DOM -TOM), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom: €850 EUR (£775 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros)!!! Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. In perfect working order and in good to to very good condition, with the usual marks at the usual places, but almost no fret wear. Here are the specifications : Body: alder Top: figured maple veneer with a second John Myung signature under the clear coat, so unremovable Neck: bolt-on 3 pieces hard maple Fingerboard: ebony with infinity inlay (radius 23-5/8" or 600 mm) Positions: 24 medium frets with front infinity inlay and side white dots Headstock: 3+3 with John Myung signature Tuners: original Yamaha (Gotoh GB7) Pickups: 2 original Yamaha AlNiCo stacked humbuckers (very Jazz Bass sounding) Controls: volume (active/passive push-pull), blend, bass, mids, treble (tone control in passive mode) Preamp: Glockenklang 3 bands (the original Yamaha preamp will be delivered, but I have no idea if it's working) Bridge: original Yamaha solid brass Strings spacing at bridge: 16.5 mm Nut: bone (50mm width) Strings spacing at nut: 9 mm Knobs: original Yamaha (metal) Scale: 35 inches (889 mm) Hardware colour: gold with Schaller Strap-Locks buttons on the bass Truss rods: two, double action, 100% functional Finish: gloss Ruby Red Country of origin: Taiwan Serial number: PP14025 Year: 14/09/1999 (first generation of the RBX 6JM) Weight: 5.220 kg! Action : from 1.5 mm under the C string to 2.0 mm under the B string at 24th position (can even go lower, but was more than perfect for me and it's already super low with a very straight neck) and yes this is measured at the SECOND OCTAVE!!! Will be delivered in an used unknown brand semi-rigid gig bag (totally adapted to this bass). Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has been fully set up professionally. It has received a new battery and is fitted with a set of used DR Black Beauties BKB6-30 round wound stainless steel coated strings (30 - 45 - 65 - 85 - 105 - 125), which really serve this bass. What you see is what you get ! Look carefully at the photos taken from different angles and lights to see the real condition, which is good to to very good with the usual marks at the usual places, but almost no fret wear. Here is the link to the 18 photos in high resolution: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Tm5VaOy3sxcU8nnu1CnheOU25VwSio0L?usp=drive_link Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus left and right shoulders injury, without mentioning a painful tendonitis on the right arm, I'm selling all the basses I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it!
  8. I seem to recall reading that basslines were played in a higher register decades ago due to the limitations of vinyl at the time, as well as playback equipment. Not to mention the limitations of early bass guitar amplifiers. I wonder if this led to more melodic bassline creation?
  9. Santana's version of Evil Ways, Black Magic Woman, Jingo-lo-ba and She's Not There are stuck in my head as Santana songs.
  10. Oh yes ... I was forgetting you could use one of those stringy, saw-like things on em ... wassernhame ... bows 😉
  11. As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £11.50 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears the Eden's seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

  12. My Evah Pirazzi orchestral mediums have settled down nicely. Bass tutor prefers the tone, more fundamental and easier starting of the note with the bow. (It also helped opening a new pot of Pops🤣). Working on pieces for Grade V exam - nearly there. Repeating to myself - I do not need a new bass nor a new bow. . .
  13. I just went to try some bb basses at Yamaha. Tried the bbp34, bb434 and bb734A. I have a 79 Yamaha pulser 400 which has a 39” neck and Bartolini pickups. The bbp34 was great. Built well, growly tone. For someone who never gets on with active basses at all (I’m an analogue person) I preferred the bb734A. It was easier to dial in things as everything has a d10 notch. Genuinely shocked I preferred it. Tone reminded me of my Bart’s. made me think, is the tone I like even vintage.
  14. this is a lot of pedal for the money
  15. Not buying this at all, I suspect you're basing your 'old music has good bass-lines' idea on a limited set of artists, and doing the same with your 'modern bass-lines are shit'. Have a listen to a station or a show playing 60's and 70's pop and trust me, you'll hear some pretty bland bass parts at least 50% of the time. Re modern music, while I like to explore the road less travelled, I pick up as many decent basslines from the stations my daughters listen to such as Heart and Radio 1 (!!!!!) as I do on Radio 6. Anyway, there ain't no right and wrong to any of this, it's all just opinion and ultimately a function of what each person construes as a decent bass part in the first place
  16. Nah it`s defo black n maple Price now includes del to UK mainland.
  17. Here is my Sire P5 bass for sale. Alder body, roasted maple neck, 42 mm nut width, bone nut, weight is 4 kg or8.9 lbs. Bass is in very good condition just one small mark on the very end of the headstock. As the front and side dots were black and I couldn`t see them due to the roasted maple, I have fitted stickers on the face of the board and luminous stars that glow on a dark stage on the top edge. I will include a gig bag as well. Collection from Paisley or meet up within reason only.

  18. Might work rather well, I doubt you'd ever use the bridge P-PUP soloed but it might blend very nicely with one or more of the others. If it were for sale at a decent price I'd certainly give it a go, especially as it appears to be wearing a bunch of cream Dimarzios, defo my fave PUPs, the colour has a huge effect on tone
  19. If you intend to slap it and play amplified rockabilly style (I do, and also have a Stentor) the strings are almost as important as the bass.
  20. Sorry for late reply , been busy. I recently took the amp off and serviced it. I took an old Halfords bike carrier apart. Cut it to the desired length, swapped the locking mechanism around so it works as a stand. I put some prosecco cork stops in the tubes to protect the carpet. It hold the old school Peavey bass combo, about 31 kg. It's not a pretty stand but the combo conceals it.
  21. Yep - Bb as last bar of Intro, verses, choruses, and definitely G# as last bar of bridge. Also, B (not G# as I originally had it) as last bar of chord sequence after the key change. I think I'm pretty much there now. Thanks to everybody.
  22. How odd... I shouldn't try to follow such things in the small hours! Sorry for the mistake.
  23. Today
  24. You only need half of those If you got rid of everything fret wise above the octave and every part of a fret on the two treble strings, you could make it a hybrid fretted/fretless and do all the pointless noodling on the bits real bass players don’t use 👍 #joking
  25. Great little cab SIM pedal with XLR out and thru port. Quick and easy to load and recall IRs. Has velcro on the bottom. Price includes UK postage. https://shop.hotoneaudio.com/products/omni-ir?srsltid=AfmBOopi3ArFUFryqxYVEzkyrXBmaNhRmgzbJ5g42nlMt8_bBx44r1P1
