Sounding great once again Daryl. Great balance between you all and bass sounds perfect. Deep with a nice click top end. Band is sounding hi-end. Exceptional playing. Love it. Dave

Is that Crossroads by Cream Daryl ? Seems like a big bass rig for the size of room but i would love to play thru an SWR rig like that but i know what you mean standing in front of it. I cant hear my Mesa rig too well when standing directly in front of it. Sounds amazing 6-10ft in front tho. My Barefaced 212 cab is completely different and i can hear that quite easily standing in front or even to the side. Dave Dave

DB amp head recommendation please

I didn't know about this company. I like the look of their stuff. I'm sorted with HPF and parametric eq at the moment (various Broughton pedals and an old, battered TC Electronic Dual Parametric Equalizer ) but good to know there's a local source if I need a new one. I have a Th500 that I used for both double and bass guitar gigs with a barefaced super midget. I now use a powered GRbass 10inch cab with a Grace Felix but took the TH out the other day when I was playing a jam session in case any bass guitarists turned up (they didn't) and it still sounded good to me. I was tempted by a used EA doubler I saw a while back but I really don't need another amp. -
Is Wilton Felder one of the best bassists of the 70s

Yeah that's fair 👍 -
Ah, okay... You could download and use the free player though (a serial number is supplied). You can run both versions side by side because they use separate executable files. Kontakt.exe for the full version, Kontakt Player.exe for the free version, they don’t overwrite each other:

ACS seconded. I use the PRO17s, as they give the most neutral sound. It’s pretty much like turning the volume of the whole (very loud) band to a manageable level, no specific frequency bias.

Just had our 29th Nov cancelled (rescheduled to next year) because the landlord is putting a large Christmas tree up on the very small stage before the end of the month. One of those situations you cant make up 😂

That was a fun day out! Very enjoyable speaking by the speakers (and about the speakers!). I got to meet some great folks and play some rather nice basses. -

I thought it had already been figured out that shimming wasn’t going to do anything, because the neck and bridge both sit on the same plank of wood; it’s a bit like a dog chasing its tail. As far as options go, it’s been suggested to check whether the plank is flat or is bending (either around the truss-rod cutout or the pickup bay); if it isn’t flat then that’s probably the underlying issue. The option of lower bridge saddles might be worth investigating.

I got home 40m ago. What a fabulous day out. I'll post some proper comments tomorrow but for now, a huge thanks to Paul, Paul and Gary for pulling it together and also to everyone who went and made it such a great experience.

I never sent my Z7 back but it was the one with the ash body. Great sounding and looking but weighed 11.2 lbs so I sold it on to a guy who didn`t care about the weight. But I read @neepheid post if I remember right who has an alder body one that weighed around 9 ish so when Andertons were blowing the Z7 alder bodied ones for £365 I nabbed one and it is a good bit lighter. And they are excellent basses, I actually prefer them to the 3 band Stingray`s I have owned in the past.

Looks good, but requires the latest version of Kontakt, at 99€ for update. I'll wait until after Christmas before being able to try out Glade. Patience, then.
