  2. The Stuart Clayton books are very good for jamiroquai material
  3. Location: Teesside (N.E.)
  4. These are awesome cabs, I’ve got a couple of the 8ohm versions, been using them for a good 5 years and they’ve never let me down. GLWTS
  5. I had a similar "flap" issue with my bass rig. When i dig in i was hearing that speaker flap sound from my bass rig. Its something i've had a while but just thought i was pushing my rig too hard. However i started using my Keeley comp at every gig meaning my bass level never increased to the amp. It pointed more towards my Sandberg VM4. I decided to lower the pick ups a touch just to see if it made a difference and low and behold the issue has now gone. I generally like a reasonably low action but not enough to get fret buzz so i'm typically 1.75 - 2mm at 12th fret depending on bass. I only experienced it when really digging in hard in the heavier rock songs. Oddly enough there are some songs i miss the distortion / flapping sound as it suited the aggressive tone. 😂 Dave
  6. from looking at it I think it's more of a modern radius . There was no radius quoted in the original add.
  7. Thanks! I always appreciate an opportunity to post those pics!
  8. Ohh, I hadn’t thought of red strings. The ones currently on mine are black. (Not the black strings. It came with black strings which I replaced and then unreplaced.) I’ve got some black dye for the fretboard. I just need to get around to using it.
  9. I was going to say Barefaced One10 too. I have one, and have had two in the past, I also have a TE Elf as well as other higher powered small Class D heads. I would add that in my opinion, a single BF One10 with a TE Elf, whilst capable (just) of playing with a small ensemble in a small room, is really on the limit of what you can do with it. A second cab makes a huge difference with the TE Elf, but I think this defeats the object of the OPs exercise. I do use a single BF One10 for gigs sometimes, even as "backline only" with no DI, but I use it with a higher powered head than the TE Elf, and at the moment that's a GK Legacy 800. It really works well for such a tiny setup. Rob
  10. Hi Dave, I was using the Melvin Lee Davis Preamp Pedal direct into the virtual desk. First time I’ve properly run sans amp. I have to say, it sounded huge. Only complaint was that the bottom end of the Elite Jazz made the 15” 1000w monitors flap a little occasionally!
  11. Please could I arrange to look at this? My bass just fell apart on stage last night and I need an urgent replacement!! please can you email me?
  12. Corrected information about tuners - originally stated to be budget Hipshot replacements but they are Gotoh
  13. Yes it takes a bit of practise. Start simple and build upwards. One trick when singing is to simplify the line your playing, kinda fudge it a bit. To think I once sang lead vocal on 'Forget Me Knots' in a three piece? Can barely even play the bass line anymore...The exuberance of youth can achieve pretty much anything.
  14. Hi , I have an Ampeg Combo ( Ampeg B-200R Rocket Bass Combo ) with a 4 ohm 15 inch speaker inside , Can I replace it with a 8 ohm 15 inch speaker , being that it is a Transistor amp ? I know it will reduce the output . Pete
  15. I'd never heard of the condition, really interesting to hear Victor talk about it and how he's combating it John 😎
  16. What's this ? Giving up gigging. I reckon you'll miss it. Always take a large 18" gym fan and have it at your side of the stage. It makes a world of difference even on a minimum setting. Dave
  17. Meant to ask if you were using an amp or DI to desk. ? Can't quite see what's behind you in the vid. Dave
  18. Love the catchy wee bass line in Crazy Train. Dave

  21. Just to confirm, I will be coming. I'll bring a Reverend Triad 4 string and a Reverend Mercalli 5, with a GK & Barefaced rig.
  22. Oh John, it would have been a comedy if it had been at an open mic. The speaker stands had been set up with the legs splayed little more than the width of the speakers and then had been placed on an uneven bit of field which ws sloping. His eq was all over the place, just at random it seemed, and he'd turned the mids right down at some point and was then complaining of no volume. Someone with a bit of sense set the eq to flat and bingo you had volume. At one point he switched the output to the monitor channel and couldn't understand why the master volume wasn't working! Total panic. Btw there are line level outs on the front of the amp but you'd ideally want to use TRS to XLR leads. Anyway I'm glad we got it working and it turns out that through decent speakers your guy has a good voice. It might persuade him to let you in if you reassure him he'd sound better with someone else operating the PA. Your bass sounded great by the way. Was that the Monza?
