  1. Past hour
  2. And here we have Patitucci's complete bass part for the tune 'Tonight' from the same album. Listen to Gloria Estafan's phrasing and then go back and listen to Patitucci's. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/tonight-dave-grusin/
  3. I'll be going along for the setup and soundcheck but after that i'll be heading home as i'm not part of the band and it's a small wedding so i'd be pretty conspicuous (also i've got a kitchen to start painting tomorrow afternoon) the desk will be sitting next to the guitarist so if there are any issues he should be able to sort it fairly quickly, they don't want any foldback so that will hopefully help with reducing the chances of feedback, i might set up a second mic on a stand as well and balance between the two, the player might also object to the mic in a towel method so a mic on a stand might end up the answer anyway. Thank you for all the suggestions and tips, I'll try and report back once it's all over. Matt
  4. Neither will mine - I don't know why they quote an initial ridiculous and vague ETA, but mine are arriving on Tuesday - just under 3 weeks since I ordered them. If I need strings in a hurry, I got to my local shoppie anyway and pay full price for my lack of planning
  5. That's lovely. The AVII 60s P is 1960. Differences AFAICS: Tighter fingerboard radius (7.5"), marginally narrower nut (by 0.5mm), 4-ply pickguard with steel backplate, 1960 pickups. Aldo reverse tuners, not sure if thec63 has those.
  6. @Bill Fitzmaurice, here's an attempt at providing you with the dimensions. I'm not an expert at this by any stretch, but if you need anything else just let me know. Thanks ever so much for going out of your way to help me with this project.
  7. True, of course. Ian Klos asked me on a phone call about the headstock. I was diplomatic in that I said that it might put some people off. I suggested maybe a 2+2 arrangement in the more Status or Ibanez type shape. Or something along those lines.
  8. I dont need one of those. Every time i play is a master class in how not to play!!! I can only wish i was at that level of ability
  9. Time is Tight. Easy enough except the riff isn't quite what I thought it was and I keep reverting.
  10. Everything original except paint job and string tree. The org. string tree looked like if it was made of a can of Coca Cola.
  11. I am planning some mods. I'll report back on how they affect the sound
  12. LPB with red tort. Sorted.
  13. Evening, Selling some pedals I don’t use anymore. First is an Aguilar Tonehammer Preamp, it’s great, great condition and boxed. £150 posted Then a Solidgold FX Aurras, AURRAS OPTICAL VIBRAPHASE The Aurras Optical Vibraphase—a powerful effects pedal named after the goddess of sound, meets the legacy of its predecessor the Athena Vibraphase in a harmonious blend of legendary, vintage Uni-Vibe textures and innovative, modern prowess. FEATURES: 100% analog audio path from input to output. 2-stage asymmetric phase shifter built around a pair of selected and individually controlled opto-isolators. Dry Mix for tones and textures ranging from soft Vibrato to lush Uni-Vibe like sounds. Dual LFO setup powered by a microprocessor, providing limitless sonic flexibility. LFO Frequency and Phase Offset modes for increased versatility. The Frequency Offset adds rhythmic patterns by slowing down the second LFO, while the Phase Offset fine-tunes the throb by introducing asymmetry between the LFOs. Soft-touch relay-based true bypass switching, on-board tap tempo and speed ramping, expression pedal input. £150 posted
  14. Bought this December 2023 with the intention of having a smaller bass to noodle on around the house and take to small gigs but I never really bonded with it. It’s a brilliant little bass that’s really well made and sounds great but I could just never really get on with the size, taking this as a sign that short scales just aren’t for me! I paid around £350 for the bass and £110 for the hard case so listing both for around £270. There’s a small scratch/chip/mark on the lower horn that I’ve tried to photograph best I can. Collection from Portsmouth or happy to meet within a reasonable distance, would prefer to avoid posting if possible. Cheers!

  15. Only bought this a couple of weeks ago from another Basschat member, given it a run out at a couple of rehearsals but just isn’t my kind of sound so I’m listing it back up for what I paid for it. Rat based distortion with bass and treble eq controls, can do the lower gain thing but really shows what it can do at higher gain sounds. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers!
  16. Folks, now is probably a good time to announce that due to unforseen circumstances, the release of my fantastic new song, "Bernadette", has been delayed
  17. Today
  18. Currently for the Revolt & HX One. I have a Source Audio midi adapter ordered to link the Atlas. This is my 1st venture into midi. It's a steep learning curve for me but the Morningstar software is pretty good 👍
  19. The new headstock is a vast improvement. I tend to keep my opinions on headstocks to myself as its how brands identify their products and to a lesser degree to do with the playability or tone of the instrument, however, eeeeeesh there's some munter headstocks out there lol..
  20. Thank you Mr. R. If it sells I’m sure I will be just as devastated as when I sold my last AVRI P Bass, but as I’m only noodling in my dotage it seems a bit extravagant to hang on to it - especially when the MOT on my jalopy is due next month😟😟🙏🙏🙈🙈!
  21. Back in 2011, I went to a Hartke masterclass with David Ellefson and Frank Bello, I ended up doing my first ever interview with both of them (Frank live on stage, so, no pressure) for a worldwide guitar magazine video and that's pretty much where it all started for me! So, you never quite know what you'll get! I've been to a good few masterclasses/clinics over the years. Some, you sit, listen and enjoy, others there's more participation offered. The inevitable Q&A session is in there and there might be a break out time to look at the gear and talk directly to the players. (This is especially important if a brand is supporting the masterclass and have a whole pile of products out for all to look at as well). Of those, tehre's never been an expectation to take your instrument, unless it has been specifcally billed as such. My favourite clinics have included Paul Gilbert, Doug Wimbish (another interview I've done), Andy James, my ole guitarist who now plays for Five Finger Death Punch, Brian May and, for nostalgia Geoff Whitehorn and the late, great Keith More, both flanking a wall of stacks in the Marshall Roadshows. Oh and Dave n' Frank, legends.
  22. Fantastic and practical little pedal this - massively boosts your volume and immediately creates a slap tone via a mid scoop and low & high end boost - works really well. This is used but in excellent condition and comes with original 12v power supply - tiny too so will squee onto most pedal boards no problem! Official blurb below: The MB Mini series of pedals from Markbass is made to the same high quality level as our standard effect line, but uses an ultra-compact, lightweight chassis. Smaller than other stompboxes, these incredible-sounding pedals will fit onto even the most crowded pedal boards, and the 9-12V power requirement means you can use them with any standard power supply. Give your pedalboard a “boost” with the MB Mini Boost—which also features our Variable Preshape Filter (boosts lows and highs, and cuts mids). Input: mono ¼” jack Input impedance: 1 Mohm / 6 Vpp Output: mono ¼” jack Output impedance: 470 ohm / 6 Vpp Boost Gain Level: from 0 to +20 dB Power requirements: DC Input +9/+12VDC* Dimensions: 48.4 x 38.2 x 105.2 mm / 3.23” x 1.5” x 4.92” Weight: 0.51 lbs / 230 gr * 12VDC power supply included
  23. I was struck by the plagiarism accusations... the modern slavery element became apparent later.
  24. Ian said it to me more about the balance of the headstock actually. However, it's a valid point that people like Fenders. For all my time playing I've never owned a bass that was 3+1 until this. It is curious. I believe the 21 and 22 fret necks require the right heel and there's no overhang like say if you buy a Warmoth 21 or 24 fret neck with the fretboard overhang. It's worth saying that their own instruments now have the revised headstock instead of the square one which was a bit awful.
  25. Hey JazzyJ, what are you using the Morningstar controller for if you don’t mind me asking please?
  26. The Foto-Flame finish is thick, heavy, and once it starts to come off is going to carry one. This is not relicing, this is like old lino peeling off a kitchen floor. I've stripped two of them and both times the grain on the body was non existent so they do not take a clear finish unless bland is your thing. I think you need to ensure there's no residue from the chems in the FF before you start applying a new finish 👍
