    That’s where mine are at with the output pushed above half way. But I don’t feel I’ve mastered the in and out gain of this. I found I must have dropped the volume of one block (massively) recently and then compensated with the mixer on the output. Also sorry not trying to teach you to suck eggs on the cab sim, just we often add all the things we think we need and then start listening to how it sounds. I started off with my eq curve, a preamp, my preferred ir and what was working on my pedalboard was too much on the Anagram. I’m always trying to get what I feel is the perfect cab sim is, where you clean signal sounds the same regardless of it, but fuzz’s sound perfect. I’m back in Istanbul now with my big board and the anagram so can finally a/b stuff, do some captures, tone match with what’s already available and finally balance all my levels against a solid reference point. Anyway, blah blah, I’ve a better form opinion of this by the end of the week.

    I do have a further question, where are you guys aiming for on the input and output meters? A the moment mine are hitting abut halfway on each. But I’m thinking I maybe should push them a bit hotter.

    `yes, I’m quite aware how cab blocks work. I didn’t use them for years with the Helix, largely, because I don’t have great knowledge of different mic types and mic’ing techniques. But I started using them within the last couple of years once I got to grips with them - whilst I realised they are largely a complex eq curve, I find a nicely dialled in cab blocks bring a certain “something” to the mix that I can’t dial in with eq alone - almost as if there’s subtle compression in the right areas. Anyway, I think I’ve sorted it now, by simply changing the default mic selection and a tiny about of eq. Still, I think the Anagram cab blocks have more high end cut than the revised helix cab blocks introduced a couple of years ago - the helix one usually need taming with further high and low cuts, whereas the Anagram feels like they need opening up.

    I had a few hours to myself today so managed to knock this up, we've got visitors and I'm away for a couple of days so I just about managed to get something done. pretty simple, guitar, bass , EZ drummer a few FX and the dulcet tones of an angel , wrapped in Ozone and oozing gently onto your favourite personal playlist for years of appreciation.

    Oh, more importantly, it's finished! I'll take some better pictures tomorrow when I have some daylight, but here's a decent enough shot of the completed bass. I think it looks rather nice, and it sounds good as well. I've attached a quick bit of noodling, recorded direct into my interface with no tinkering. It's neck position, both pickups on, and bridge position. I've since raised the bridge pickup a little, so it should sound a bit less feeble. Also, special thanks to the cheap white-and-orange beach towel/workbench cover that stars in many of these pictures. My mum bought from a Leclerc in Brittany during a family holiday about 30 years ago, and it's only recently occurred to me that I have no idea how or when it ended up rolled up in a cupboard in my house.

    Mostly wiring and electronics stuff today. I started by sawing the old broken tabs off the front pickup and installing the replacement baseplate suplied by @Jackroadkill. As this isn't going to be a visible part, I didn't bother doing any prep or refinement here other than cutting off a corner to accommodate the cable (which was in a slightly different position to where it was on the baseplate) and using a soldering iron to press some threaded inserts into the plastic. With that done, and the 3D printed surrounds sanded and lacquered, I started putting things together. I don't have any pictures of this, because anyone who has ever wired up a guitar will know that the process is extremely annoying and requires intense concentration. I did it without burning myself, and only had to desolder the whole thing, make a cup of tea, and start again once. Which is good going.

    Did you put new pickups in it in the end? I put some GM Thumpers in my black one, as I read that Alinco should be more 'vintage' sounding (although I dont know my @rmpit from my elbow really)

    3 possible reason: 🙂 1. They stop gigging Looking at the pedalboard thread on this forum I don't think gigging has anything to do with owning an extravagant pedal board! 2. They realized how practical multi effect units are Ironically, and possibly in contradiction to your point 1, it seems a lot of people who do the most gigs use multi fx - certainly the last few stage shows and big tribute bands I have seen have all used Line6 Helix's (Helices?). 3. They are in separation from their partner and forgot the pedal board when they moved out They lost their lover, not their love!! 4. (Bonus) They realized tone is in the fingers What???? 5. (Extra bonus) They grew up and started playing upright ....yes I see the point, although evidence from many years gigging suggests that most of us think we play better when legless!

    Moving on this stunning Maruzczyk/Mensinger Joker B 6P Hollowbody 30". It has only seen use at home as it never really fit into the bands/sessions I am frequently involved with and has lived in its case for the best part of a year now. It's in mint condition and has great playability for a 6 string thanks to the ultra compact scale length. It's also surprisingly versatile sounding with its inclusion of a wiring switch for the pickup and a notched 10 position Stellartone filter (in place of a regular tone control). My idea for this bass was go simple but high quality, ergonomic and well thought out and I feel it hits these 3 points very well.     There aren’t many Serek basses around. There was one in The Gallery which was a bright orange colour, it sold recently. I have looked high and low and the only ones I can find seem to be elsewhere in Europe the US and Japan.
