A cautionary tale regarding Royal Mail

The other day I parked up on the street to find the postie leaving a parcel behind my side gate. I said sorry I wasn’t at home earlier but someone had parked a red van in front of my drive 😁 -
The Prodigy were freaking awesome. Did a quick text round of the lads and the guitarist was oggling Olivia Rodrigo prancing around in her basque rather than watching the rawking on the Other Stage. Their light show was nearly as good as the set I bought from Thomann! Franz Ferdinand were great. Scissor Sisters were absolutely fabulous - what a show! Snow Patrol were... um, Snow Patrol. I'm currently catching up on Gary Numan and really enjoying it. But not as much as watching the crowd that doesn't seem to get him and are wondering why he hasn't done Are Friends Electric? yet. He's got a great rock goth vibe going on with his band I have loads of stuff to catch up on. Ezra Collective are top of the list. My lad was watching them earlier and they sounded really good.

I saw about 3 minutes of Rod Stewarts set. The pyramid stage, really? Was everyone else busy this year?!

Congrats on the new bass! I loved my classic pro and it's the only bass I regret selling. Those pups are just the epitome of a Gibson bass tone - mean and massive with a dark growl that'll put hair on your ball sack. Love em. That purple vintage pro is gorgeous too, what a fine flock you have there!

Got a '64 coming. I have been using the Capo for years now and it really is amazing. I do find myself sometimes running the recordings of it into a cab sim (I use the brainworx Bassman) after though. I think the 64 should be a good compliment to the Capo since I can run it's cab sim direct into my inteface and get that sound of an amp. Plus it has a blend, which will let me add more bottom end to the sound. Finally I can turn it off and DI straight into the interface if I want to do that, and kill the cabsim or keep it. So lots of options using just that DI. I like that the 1/4 out lets me HP and LP. So I can record both a direct and "mic'd" signal if I want. Also intrigued that everyone keep saying this responds like a real amp. That should make the cabsim hopefully not sound as static as some can. What's interesting about a good amped signal for me is that sometimes it just sits in a mix so much better than a DI'd one, even if it sounds a little highpassed when solo'd. I really did not want to mess with micing and recording an amp, so this seems like the perfect option. We shall see.

It arrived earlier. I didn't notice it at the time but it looks like a Jazz bass neck with a precision decal from the front, but does actually turn into a telecaster guitar neck when I observe it from the back. I don't know how it does this, but I think it is warping spacetime — It gets several inches shorter and the number of holes in the headstock changes. I'm afraid to fit it now.

Cool little amp for home-practice or small-medium gigs. It’s only had light home use with me, and so is in as-new condition and boxed. Part-ex’s in the form of a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white welcome! Collection preferred from near High Wycombe, but can post for £7. Cheers Si

Performer diddled with for half an hour, then put into it's case for the first time in a long time (I had to repair the handle, and it's few outings in the last ten years have been in a jazz bass case).
-
Why not. '65 P, gigged the same day it arrived. A good few years ago now, though there was a backup in case it crapped out on me.

Just seen Olivia Rodrigo do a song called Brutal, which sounded a lot like Pump It Up by Elvis Costello, so did a google and turns out he was more than happy with it and said no legal action - fair play Elvis!

Now Glastonbury is over, have some more music and get over to the Basschat Composition Challenge for June and vote for some mighty fine tunes 👍

I enjoyed what I saw of Rod Stewarts set, and it looked like he and his band did too. Also thought Ronnie Wood seemed to be having more fun than he does with the Stones.
-
My thoughts on Rod Stewart’s Glastonbury set. For me, it started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle, and the less said about the end, the better. But, apart from that, excellent.
