  2. Just like when you first started playing bass, keep it simple. Find a song you like, prefereably with just "on the beat" root notes. Learn to sing the tune seperately and then little by little bring them together. Work on this at home where there is no pressure to get it right first time. At home also means you'll be able to hear yourself better and concentrate more. Once you get more comfortable with singing the tune along with playing you can add in dynamics and singing at volume. Pick another tune and repeat the process.........👍
  3. would be great to visit a music store but sadly Manchester is not the best place to be so it would mean a decent drive to somewhere like Bass Direct, hence this post!
  4. Howdi! Actually I am kinda in between moving back to the Midlands! Long story...
  5. For sale in very good used condition my 1000watt neo 4x8 cab. It's weighs in at around 22kg single hand lift and carry (if not too far)! Super punchy cab and seems to naturally sit in the mix easier than many cabs I've used. The only flaw is the speakon input isn't working but both jack sockets are. Its 8 ohm so can be coupled with a 15 for a lovely full range sound. I have used it with my ashdown 2x10 combo which made a great rig. Hartke amp is for size ref only although is for sale separately (deal to be done)?? Postage is possible if sorted by the buyer. Robust packaging assured. Cheers

  6. I have no experience of Phil Jones amplifiers but as an engineer I have always distrusted them for the reasons Bill has mentioned. There are so many combos out there that I feel would work better for you. May I humbly suggest trips to music stores and try out as many combos as you can. Remember that bass and small really don't go together that well! LOL
  7. It's called the 'saddle' ... okay ... clean off all that PVA 'polar bear snot' with warm water and and a cloth ... blurgggggghh = Never get that stuff near a double bass on pain of .... well let's leave it at serious pain. Isopropyl alcohol will got off any that hot water won't ... then let the area dry thoroughly. Now go and buy some proper glue if you must use a 'chemical' glue use Titebond SPARINGLY Better is Titebond liquid hide glue You don't need much clamping with hide glue ... probably even get away with taping it down while the glue cures ... the forces once everything is back together will tend to keep the saddle in place even if the glue joint isn't the strongest. Now go get the person who did that gluing job to write out 100 times on a blackboard ... or an interactive whiteboard as you are at a college I MUST NOT USE PVA ON MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
  8. No worries that's what I thought, worth a try though. If someone else wants to take the C4 off your hands let me know and take the controller. Cheers
  9. I have one of these and it’s very good. I don’t fiddle with the controls much, tending to leave it in passive mode in the usual 60:40 jazz pup mix but I do like the string spacing
  10. Nice one, glad you’re enjoying it
  11. Now you know how tubes make a bass sing! Enjoy!
  12. Based on the trailer, I'm not holding out much hope. The celeb cameos feel like a portent of doom to me. I'm not sure that ever works, does it? I really do hope it turns out to be decent.
  13. This is a very nice, modular pine shelving system. We brought it go around an corner in our attic room but is no longer needed. Its very, very sturdy and has any number of different ways it can be put together. There are various heights, various lengths and various widths of shelves. Surprisingly it has all the bits apart from whatever screws you need to attach it to the wall. The wire bits hold the shelves up, which is so much better than a little button. We had it with heavy books on it and it's as straight as the day it came to us. From memory it cost aground £5-600 for all the bits as they a massive step up in quality from IKEA Collection from near Settle in North Yorkshire. Free to anybody who wants them, they will probably fit in a medium sized estate/saloon. Needs to go quickly though Thanks Rob
  14. They don't spray on the lower part, sure, but they do on the upper part, so you can see there's still a bit of red under the pickguard on the upper section, but its faded where exposed to the light.
  15. I would monitor the operation of the internal fan and carry on using it. Using a distortion pedal will cause the amplifier to run closer to its limits. There should be enough protection against overheating built into the unit - hopefully!
  16. East London me
  17. Despite any other concerns the description alone is so vague and non committed that I would not consider it
  18. Glad you like it. Fantastic amp 🤘😎🤘
  19. I wouldn't consider anything with smaller than an eight inch driver. Sure, you could use fives...if there are at least four of them, which pushes the price up, as four fives cost a lot more than one eight. Even an eight is questionable, as manufacturers don't load premium eight inch drivers into inexpensive combos. For what you'd pay for a combo with a premium eight, like a Trace ELF 1x8, you could get a better result with a much less expensive combo loaded with a middle of the road ten.
  20. Did you sell that bass Shaggy?
  21. Thanks all, I guess like any new skill you just have to apply yourself consistently and accept you'll be crap to start with. It's not so much the technicalities of singing (although I'm no singer, sadly) it's the working out how my brain can learn to unlink the singing from the playing bit.
  22. This arrived this week at PS towers Ampeg V4B. It is simply incredible 100 watts. Simple to set up Absolute ampeg delight. I just didn't know this model existed or I would bought one ages ago It looks cool and isn't remotely back breaking at 18kg Gets its first Policed gig next week Then a blues/rock gig Then a ska/new wave gig
  23. Reckon I'll mosey on down..... I'll bring my Spector Pulse 2 with the LHZ preamp, a Warwick Proline custom, an LFSys Monaco cab and a couple of amps (a choice between a Bugera Veyron, Quilter BB800, Mesa Big Block or an Orange 4 Stroke - if anyone would like to have a bash on something let me know your preference)
  24. 100% This. I couldn't do it either but lots of practice and not thinking about it when you're doing it was key. Concentrate too much on either and it goes to pot! I found I changed to downstrokes only which helped me for some reason. Keep plugging away and it'll come.
  25. I bought this recently on a whim expecting it to be very useful, but frankly speaking I don’t have the patience for such technical wizardry at my age. As far as I’m aware the reviews have been very favorable and Janek Gwizdala has incorporated one into his own touring pedal board which is a serious endorsement of the unit’s capabilities. If it’s been used three times I would be surprised. Includes original box etc. This should be a good deal for someone looking to purchase a new version of this pedal as this is as box fresh a second hand version as you will probably find in the wild! £155 inc main land uk postage. £150 collected from Wigan or local to Wigan meet up. Cheers.
