Knackered truss rod and fingerboard removal HELP PLEASE
Andyjr1515 replied to police squad's topic in Bass Guitars
Fretless is exactly the same process. Depending on the thickness, it tends to be a bit slower as there are no frets to speed up the transfer of heat to the glue joint but probably less risk of breaking. -

Following on with the theme of appalling Americanisms defiling the Queens English, I mentioned this way back on this thread and it warrants repeating... Tubes (pronounced toobz) when used by folk from this green and unpleasant land referring to valves. Yes, I know it's what those shouty, excitable cool kids from out in the colonies call them on YouToob. But you're not from Minnesota are you, you're from Halifax. So please stop it or I'll be obliged to give you a damn good fisting. -
Mine is due tomorrow and I still have the MXR to compare it to, although really it’s what the FI is like with the new update that I’m most interested in. But I’ll post some initial impressions when I’ve had a play.

Often wondered why double basses have those ugly extensions instead of a drop tuner. No need after all! Tho orchestral music often goes low C, requiring C, G, D, G tuning which is a bit of a fingering nightmare and would need detuners approaching those on a zon hyper bass. 5 string maybe the way to go.

You need an extra long case. I've owned two Originals, one came with it's own flight case which judging by the stickers on it had actually been on some flights, and for the other I was able to source a suitable hard case from my local musical instrument shop amongst their stock of spare used cases in the days when they used to have such things. Both cases were the same internal size (within a few mm) so it would appear that it is a standard, albeit one that isn't very common. Unfortunately I don't have either bass any more so I can't measure them for you. Alternatively you could ask Overwater. IIRC they still make basses with the Original shape as a custom order so they should know of a source of suitable cases.

My name is Barron Chen, and I'm from China. I currently work as a software developer. I enjoy playing guitar, especially country music, with my favorites being Take Me Home and Country Roads. I've been playing guitar for four years. I also like electronic music; Alan Walker is my favorite producer, but I don't know how to produce electronic music yet. I'll learn how to do it when I have time in the future.

Wow, a seriously cool looking bass. I've never seen this model before. Thank you for posting photos and for sharing your observations 👍

I love the burl style finish and overall colour. The colour matched knobs and pick ups look awesome too. However 10 string neck !😳 I'm not sure my little hands would be capable of stretching anywhere near enough to play the lower note strings 😰 And I dread to think how much this bass weighs !

As a kid, I grew up near a penny arcade so "Barred For Bumping" instantly came to mind. Might not get you many pub gigs these days though 😄

One last thing. I managed to sand the neck down so it’s nice and satin feeling - it was ok before but it had a long scratch and a dent near the head which you could feel quite easily. I used a damp cloth and an iron to lessen the dent depth and sanded it the rest of the way. I might sand all the finish off but it looks neat and feels great so will probably leave it cos I’m feeling lazy about it.

I know some people won’t like this but the Squire logo is gone and I have a Fender Telecaster Bass logo on the way to put on instead. It wasn’t so much to have Fender instead of Squire I just wanted Telecaster instead of Precision! I have no intention of ever passing it on as a Fender and have left the original serial number/origin country on the headstock.

So parts are going on….. Got some oil for the neck and I have to say it’s transformed!! Only had maple necks before so never had to do this. The electronics are a bit messed up so I bought 2 new CTS (came in Fender packaging which I didnt expect with new caps too!) pots which are the correct length with solid shafts. I just happen to have some really nice black solid metal knobs so will put those on. They will match the black 3 ply guard I have had to have custom made as mine didn’t seem to fit the standard templates for screw holes etc. EB Cobalts and a Hipshot bridge too. And a set of Schaller strap locks - just need a nice strap to match it but I can’t decide which one.
