  1. Past hour
  2. Wear and tear, scratches, dints and the like I can stand. I just can’t get my head around, and will not buy, items that haven’t even had a duster over them. “Item for sale, dust, pubes, dog hairs and dead skin included”.
  3. New Tiny Pink Bass Day!!! It's me birfday, innit! And my lovely partner & lifelong co-conspirator in crimes against music knows well enough what will delight and enchant me. And she has nailed it. As most of you will know (there already being an exhaustive thread about these) it's a Cort GB Shortscale - a 30" shorty with a J width neck and single 'bucker, 3 band eq and series/parallel/single coil switching. First impressions - it's incredibly playable - lately I've been playing way more guitar than bass and picking this up feels like no transition at all. The setup's OK - the action will go lower & E string intonation's slightly off - but the fretwork's impeccable, not the slightest buzz & no sharp ends. My previous experience with (admittedly very low-end) short & medium scales had me half-expecting floppy-feeling, dead sounding E & A strings but string tension's spot on, and everything feels right. Plugged in, it's a beast. I've barely scratched the surface with what the EQ & switching will do, but first impressions are that it's stupidly versatile. I love it. And it's so... so... PINK!
  4. Just driven to the local Lidl, first time since the freeze, and the pot holes have got much worse. I was dodging all over parts of the road to avoid them, and the oncoming traffic was doing the same. My wife said we used to drive on the left of the road, now we drive on what’s left. Not original, probably found it on Facebook, but I did laugh.
  5. In my current band the drummer makes the call. If he has to bring more than a snare drum and cymbals - he wants paying.
  6. Let's go back to 1987 and the first Earthworks album from Bill Bruford. The bass player is Mick Hutton and the track is called 'Up North'. Some challenging moments but not unplayable. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/up-north-bill-brufords-earthworks/
  7. I think that was the SGR800 LE. I had the SGR1000 too.
  8. Let's go back to 1987 and the first Earthworks album from Bill Bruford. The track is 'Up North' and the bass player is Mick Hutton. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/up-north-bill-brufords-earthworks/
  9. Maybe it’s “ play 2 or 3 out of this list”. ??

    Road Worn?

If UK roads were a cab
  11. Should have said, happy to ship to UK
  12. Line 6 rack mount kit for G55 & XD-V55 wireless systems. Used but excellent condition, comes with options to rack mount either one or two systems in a single rack space, antenna cables (but not antenna - you add on the ones from your receiver unit - rack screws, fittings with hex key. All boxed with instruction manual. No idea what this is worth so asking a tenner collected from the Wellingborough area or I'm happy to post at cost, probably around £5.
  13. and on the subject of making room for other instruments in a mix, Waves are giving away Waves Curves Resolve for "free" - https://www.waves.com/plugins/curves-resolve . "Curves Resolve provides an intelligent way of solving conflicts between multiple tracks in your mix. It processes one track by listening to another, carving space only when and where there’s a clash. The result: no masking, no congestion, no mud. A cleaner mix that breathes, letting all your sounds fit together beautifully. And it’s almost impossible to overprocess – more transparent, with more control than any alternative."
  14. Need any reviews, or recommend a new bridge for Fender Jazz bass. I've looked at both the Babics Z and the Halon, any advice? Thanks Gaz
  15. The SSL plugins are designed in conjunction with Sonible who offer their own 'assisted' plugin suites. I've not tried these SSL plugins, but I do own the Sonible suites. They are a useful second set of ears when I am mixing and do sound very good indeed. Sonible's latest Compressor and EQ plugins enable multiple tracks to be analysed at the same time so that each instrument's sound can be adjusted to fit in the mix, rather than 'just being a great sound' solo'd. Clever stuff! As a fan of SSL in general, I'd liek to see what Sonibke have brought to the SSL suites.
  16. Bought a fab Nicolette Larson CD set from Mick. Great comms and fast delivery as always Thanks!
  17. Doesn't 'mint' mean that it's got a hole in the middle..? ...
  18. "Mint. (just ignore the dirt and scratches)" Bassdirect have had some clangers in the past. Mint. And then in description, chipped paint, buckle rash, dented headstock.
  19. I’d say 2 or 3 max.
  20. I've done a few charity gigs for free - though being in only originals bands I often get paid very little or nowt as well depending on the amount of folks who come in. However, y'all would be appalled at the level of expenses that established stars get for charity events; the usual fee might be waived but private jet, champagne rider and Michelin level dinners are all there...
  21. Ten songs for an audition is a bit much when they may be seeing several candidates. 6 songs is plenty for both parties to see if it’s a good fit Different if you already know many of the songs but asking for 10 songs only to be told no is a bit unfair. I’m sure that won’t happen and you will get the role 👍
  22. Trans-Siberian highway, maybe?
  23. Good luck. Hope they're a decent bunch.
  24. Today
  25. There’s Road Worn, and there’s Shagged Out. I’d put this cab in the latter.
  26. Fingers crossed for you Nige, hope it goes well
