They do make good cables. In general, I avoid gold-plated plugs, even Neutrik's as it is a very thin coating, adds nothing to the conductivity and can look bad if/when the coating starts to wear.

The reason self-builds take so long is you have to wait from the right parts to come along and then be quick when they do! I only rarely buy new bodies or necks, they’re getting stupidly expensive, at least at the quality end, and I prefer played-in necks, and don’t ask me about my experience of buying new Allparts, it was not good…. -

I use that old Marie Kondo trope all the time - does it spark joy? Being in a band should be an enjoyable experience, not a chore. Even if you like the people and the sounds you make, if the thought of doing any kind of work for the band (practice, gigs, social media, whatever) doesn't make you feel good, then it's time to go. And that should be a good enough explanation too - it doesn't spark joy.

I’d do the same albeit with Warmoth wood and Dimarzio PUPs, and have done a few times, but it usually takes several months so probably wouldn’t meet the 1-month criteria 👍 -

Well, you see, the lovely thing about the Fender USA high-mass bridge is the saddles are cut with grooves so you can change the spacing. I KNOW!!! I've never seen the like before or since. Well. Maybe on something I don't know but I remember being very impressed indeed. -

Ironically I really like the bridge on my aforementioned Fender as it has 19mm string spacing which is a fraction larger than the typical Fender 5 string bridge. -
Yep, plenty of SQ love around here. My VM P bass with those 'Duncan Designed' PU's is probably best P bass Ive ever had, and Ive had a few over the yrs.

Rodders started following Weirdest Fender ever?

I maintain the 6 string/s made for Tye Zamora is the "weirdest" Fender, doesn't remotely resemble anything else they've ever produced.

Thanks both for your very helpful comments! @Hellzero you mentioned that GR is not overpowering their specified output unlike the Eich - could you clarify? And what were the issues you found with the Eich heads that you've repaired? Do they have a reliability problem? @pete.young I am indeed keeping an eye out for an EA iAamp - never tried one, but always felt it could be a good fit for me! Cheers! Andy -

Hi, I want to get a powered monitor for gigs. I’ll be putting acoustic, mango and banjo through it, taking a feed from the main desk. it has to be a powered monitor but I don’t need a battery pack. Was considering the Bose S1 but it’s expensive and wondered what cheaper and better options might be out there.

Yep as already suggested, competence breeds confidence. Know ur material inside out, dont be looking at the others for cues.... My first gig at 18 was in a dingey basement night club, a terrifying experience. And as we emptied the dance floor we knew we were doomed. My anxiety got the better of me and I screwed up big time cause I didnt know the tunes well enough. You'll also be shocked how weird it may sound on stage with the full band in swing. But that's where total familiarity with your material is key. Good luck.
