  1. Past hour
  2. Behind Blue Eyes - The Who
  3. Hmm.. tricky one - not really got much new that is interesting. Obviousy I have my £62 jazz, and a polyshifter XS1.. I guess I will have to bring some older stuff unless (perish the thought) I buy anything new
  4. My wife sings lead vocals in church and I play bass, we found all the KZ phones to be not sounding great, or in my wife’s case far too big for her tiny ears. So we bought the Sennheiser IE100 Pro IEMs and they are really small, lightweight and seal really well. Not cheap but I got the ones with the Bluetooth option so you can run them wired or wireless (for just listening to music) so they are pretty versatile. I know everyone recommends the KZ range but they won’t suit everyone.
  5. Quite a show on Saturday night, I played with a symphony orchestra! A local symphony had a "Swingin' With The Symphony" concert at a lovely theatre in North Bay and our band was part of it. The first half was just the symphony playing arrangements of some swing tunes and jazz medleys and then the stage was rearranged and set up for a big band in front of the symphony musicians. The seven members of our band formed the core of the big band and it was filled out by symphony players and some community musicians so we had 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxes and a 3 piece rhythm section. We played 9 songs and what made it different was that the orchestra director actually took 7 of the big band charts and wrote complete orchestrations so on most of the songs we were a BIG band with the full orchestra backing us...fantastic sound but for us it was odd hearing bassoons and tympani parts in swing tunes. The audience of about 600 loved it and although I had one senior moment I managed to get most of it right, no room for mistakes when you are reading orchestra charts. The conductor occasionally sings with our band and that is how this whole thing started, he put in an enormous amount of work writing all those orchestra parts but they all worked well. I used my Shen SB100, NuX wireless to a Schatten Design preamp with volume control and my Traynor SB112 amp and because of the excellent acoustic qualities of the hall I didn't need anything else, I had plenty of volume even at the loudest orchestra parts. Good music, good players, good hall added up to a memorable night, I'll remember that one for a long time.👍😃 Edit: The first photo was just prior to actually playing and it looks like I play lefty but I was just standing in an odd position.
  6. Yeah he's a great player. I like the idea of stacked tone/vol for each pickup
  7. GHS Pressurewound medium/light 4-string set for sale. Tried these on a recommendation, but they're just not for me - the sound and general feel is great, but I just don't like the stiffer hex cores. The A and E strings have been trimmed slightly to be strung on a 34" scale P bass, but they were only on the bass for a day max. If anyone is curious, they sound like played in nickel rounds to me straight out the box. Looking for £25 posted in the UK if anyone would like to give these a go. Cheers!
  8. Sonicake Levitate, the delay/reverb they do. I got it for £30 from Reverb and I am genuinely surprised at the overall quality, sound and build wise are great, not just for the price bracket! Simple and easy, a little simple but can get some lovely spacey/ambient tones 👌
  9. Thanks Nick, probably one of the better models.
  10. That's an absolute stunner, Brian! GLWTS 👍 😊
  11. 20 20 Vision - Elara vance
  12. I'll keep that in mind. No real issues with the current bridge. I do like the look and tones of Nick Campbells Musicmaster. But he is a stupidly talented and a lot of his tone comes from him and his other gear.
  13. ...just listed the bridge and bumped and reduced the price of my fretless Mustang neck if any modders out there fancy having some fun.
  14. What's the story behind the brand name? Aurok is difficult to say or repeat without explaining the spelling, and AU makes me think of aluminium... I get that the full name is Aurok Composites but might it be better to have the word graphite embedded into the name? Over time the reputation will carry it, but it might help with early brand recognition to be clearer about the USP as part of the brand name.
  15. @Frank Blank started one on P3. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/517896-midlands-bass-bash-2026-confirmed-saturday-20th-june-bentley-heath-community-association/#findComment-5586354 Usual form is to copy the list and post it again with your details on. Or tell Frank and ask him nicely to repost with the update. 😉

  17. MK Studio P EUB, with stand and original soft case, in very good condition. Now £1000. (This bass is too good to give away, so if it doesn't sell soon I'm going to keep it). I bought this from a fellow Basschatter last year as a tour backup for my Yamaha SLB 300, but it was never required, so has had very little use apart from a few hours practicing. Great design. Really well made and compact, and very quick to set up. Sounds great straight into an amp, and even better with a decent preamp. I wouldn't want to risk shipping this bass so collection in person only. I can rendezvous within 15 or so miles of Southend if necessary (M25 Thurrock Services?). PM for more details. (NB, the position markers are self adhesive stickers and can easily be removed).

  18. Good. In the same sentence as “with your Aurok”, I just noticed that “received” has also been misspelt (currently recieved). And yes, that would be great.
  19. Oh yes sorry I forgot there are different types now! It's a 4 string set, nickel.
  20. For the price of the tickets I’d rather get one of these instead ..
  21. Indeed. But it only takes 6 hours to get there. 😀
  22. Today
  23. If there is money there I'm sure we will see a gig...
  24. Closer to the date I expect. Who knows what we will have bought & sold by then! 🤣
  25. Predictably, "UK" = Glasgow, Manchester and London. They might as well be on feckin Jupiter.
