Is this House/Disco bass tone a Stingray?
ghostwheel replied to SumOne's topic in General Discussion
I think it depends on who's playing. Guy Pratt playing his Jazz bass made me longing for Stingray Would you say it sounds like a JB here? Guy Pratt right hand Playing his own disco Bassline -
I have put together and painted a Daphne Blue nitro sprayed Jazz Bass with nitro gloss clearcoat. There are a couple of very tiny paint imperfections on the body (wind blown specs of dust as it was sprayed outside) which are not noticeable unless it is under your nose and in the right light. Overall, as you can see from the photos, the paint finish is very good. There is also a thread in the builds section where I talk about these. Spec; Weight 9.4lbs New Okoume body with nitro finish New 20 fret polyester coated roasted Maple neck with block inlays and colour matched headstock face Fretboard edges rolled and frets dressed for a lovely smooth playing experience New Wilkinson M series pickups New Bloodstone Guitarworks wiring with CTS pots with volume/volume/tone New Guyker tuners Schaller type strap buttons Gotoh Bridge New White pearl pick guard with plastic still on New D’addario EXL165 .45 - .105 strings New Donner gig bag The action is lovely and the bass sounds and plays like a dream. I am passionate about building good looking but very gigable basses that I would want to own. In fact, I like this bass so much, I am planning to start another one for my own collection. It is really important to me that anyone that buys my basses is happy with their purchase so having a test play on collection is absolutely allowed and encouraged. I want you to go away happy. If you have any questions or want more photos to help make a decision to buy then do not hesitate to get in touch. Collection from Fleet, Hampshire and I often WFH so this can potentially be during the day in the week as well.

You're low 'expections' will undoubtedly be true if you can't be bothered to post photos that people can see! I'm not in the habit of clicking links that I don't trust/know, I expect the same will be true for others. Surely your asking price of £12,000 is worthy of you taking the time to post an advert that might actually sell the bass? For an example, check out the £55 Tanglewood Elf for sale here. Lots of measurements and pictures for a bass with an asking price of 0.46% of your Wal.

Thanks, they look perfect, but how do you scroll through patches?

Hi I will shortly be moving to using iems for gigs. As someone with tinnitus I use ear plugs to prevent any more hearing damage and would like a set of headphones that I can use that will attenuate the sound level of outside sounds to a similar level. Having had a look it looks like drummer headphones is the solution however I see that a lot of these are very bulky, is there anything that is low/low-ish profile that will protect my hearing? Thank you

Love mine. Used it for two gigs on the weekend and it was perfect. I treated the little beauty to a new case. -

The math before me is like an irritating repellant before a garden pillaging rodent. 😂 Ok, fair enough, I stand corrected. -
If you want to try out a GR Bass combo, I'm sure he'll be accommodating.

I've just bought a bass from Jordislappa42 (Mark) and am very happy indeed. An absolute pleasure to deal with! He send video clips of the bass to me before the sale, and delivered it in person to my girlfriend's (who lives far closer to him than I do), the day after I'd made payment. Great comms throughout. Many thanks Mark - I couldn't find an existing feedback thread, so there's one here now.

Ive had this lying around for a bit but I need to make some space... I think the body is from the late seventies or eighties and was modded for a active circuit hence the the infill Was originally black but stripped back to natural with an amber lacquer Fender bridge, Duncan designed pickups I had in a box, new plate with the film still on Knobs and a basic loom not connected, extra screws under the bonnet for the guard Can take a Fender size neck 63.5mm or so Solid piece of wood, maybe sen ash but not too sure £60 posted to the UK

@ardi100 Behringer BDI21 c/o @Bassybert - £15 Posted... Then maybe something like a Zoom in slower time. Multi's are great for building a 'batch' of sounds that can be called upon, best at storing 100 (B1on) of sounds, sound per song, name them, save them external, even use your phone to re-order the patches to match the gig list order... Great and Cheap - £45ish B1 Four, even includes s tuner But a board's on the fly versatility might be what ya want? At a minimum a Behringer BeadyEye for a bit of grit and XLR into a mixer keeps it simples Could do the same with a Zoom.

Thinking on this, I came to the conclusion that if money was no object the last thing I'd consider would be a Combo! A combo by its very nature is a Buch of compromises in order to fit into the combo format. That said I do love my Ampeg B15NF!
