  2. I'm currently selling my long scale basses as I move over to medium and short scale. As such, this beautiful and rare Odyssey B300 is now available. These were built in the 1970s by Attila Balogh in Vancouver, Canada. His guitars and basses are known for their superb quality, easily rivalling Fenders and Gibsons of that period in terms of workmanship. It's well worth looking into facts and details about Attila Balogh and Odyssey, as it's a truly fascinating story. I had this bass shipped over from Canada a few years ago. I have barely played it due to increasing discomfort with long scales. It has been well played, and shows the usual wear and tear, but has no major damage, scratches or defects. The body is a flat top mahogany, with an ebony fingerboard, brass nut, bridge and fittings. The Bartolini pickups give this bass a rich resonant tone. It comes with the original hard case. I do travel, so may be able to deliver
  3. In these situations the guys in the bands are the biggest contributors. It's not something I get involved in. You're effectively donating. I used to ask if the bar staff were working free and if the beer profits went to the charity but now I just say, "Sorry, we're booked for a private function." There're plenty of bands that'll play it. And, a good standard response I keep in case I hear "that phrase", is "Yes, I know but we get all the exposure we need at paid gigs".
  4. I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s taken by all. This would be a very boring and entirely pointless thread if everyone just encouraged each other to give in.
  5. Started on the second cabinet today. This is a dry run fit, so no glueing. So much faster when you have done one before. The panels were all cut a few weeks ago, though I found one end was at an angle. Suspect the circular saw was poorly setup by some idiot. Rather than cutting the batons in advance, I cut them as I needed and used a mitre saw and block rather than a home made table saw. This was a far better way of working and wasn't much slower. Just under two hours to get to this, I do now have frostbite, but well on the way to getting a second cab, so completely worth losing a finger or so, who needs a little finger for playing bass. Front and rear faces are also cut and fit, but I haven't done the holes for the speakers, handles etc yet. Rob
  6. Just been offered yet another charity (i.e. everyone bar the musicians gets paid) gig. Support a good cause, "exposure", etc, etc. As we're not completely heartless bar stewards and the good cause in question was a reasonable one, we suggested we might be paid expenses, so that, whilst we give our time and effort for free, we don't actually make a loss on the evening. Petrol still needs to be paid for, we'll need a drink or two plus something to eat and so on. Cue pearl clutching on the part of the organiser, "but it's for charity, etc". "We realise that", we replied. "We don't expect to profit. We just don't want to lose money". They were not happy, so we said we'd pass, thanks. What is wrong with these people? Are they wealthy dilettantes who don't have to worry about where the next penny comes from? Do the think everyone else is in the same privileged position as them?
  7. ...and a truss rod adjustment tool (not original) I had a Pedulla a couple of years back and it had the exact same truss rod tool, so I'd say it is original. Nice bass btw
  8. So now all wired up, strung with La Bella white tapes, and it's a surprisingly nice instrument, it really sings with the strings but keeps a lot f punch courtesy of the PAF. Really enjoying playing it at home, rehearsing with it tomorrow and all going well there gonna be gigging it in early Feb
  9. 2002 Pedulla MVP4 in charcoal AA flame with original Bartolini soapbar pickups and ebony fretboard. I bought this from Mansons guitar shop in Exeter in 2004 and despite being well used since then it’s in great condition- the neck is as straight as the day it was made and it plays perfectly. Comes with the owners manual, original Pedulla branded hard case (which is a little worse for wear) and a truss rod adjustment tool (not original) which I think I’ve had to use three times in the last 20 years. One pot has been professionally replaced but I have the original if you want it. Super low action and thin neck but this thing has a huge beefy sound. Some minor cosmetic scratches and so on which I’ve tried to show but most would probably buff out. About 10 years ago a small section of lacquer started to separate from the edge of the fretboard, again could be fixed if you want something immaculate. An awesome bass but I have too many and it’s not getting enough use. You don’t see many of these up for sale and are only going to go up in value over time now that Mike Pedulla has retired. Collection only from Bristol. Not looking for trades, sorry. Here’s the blurb from Pedulla: Pedulla MVP4 – Where Precision Meets Power Experience the legendary craftsmanship of the Pedulla MVP4, a bass designed for players who demand uncompromising tone and playability. Hand-built with meticulous attention to detail, the MVP4 delivers a rich, articulate sound that cuts through any mix, thanks to its premium woods and proprietary electronics. With its sleek neck-through design, flawless balance, and ultra-smooth feel, this instrument offers effortless performance whether you’re laying down grooves or exploring melodic lines. The MVP4 isn’t just a bass—it’s a statement of quality and artistry, trusted by professionals worldwide. Key Features: • Neck-through construction for superior sustain and stability • Custom Pedulla electronics for versatile tonal control • Ergonomic design for maximum comfort during long sessions • Stunning finishes that showcase its boutique heritage
  10. Just seen a GT-1B in the for sale. Hadn't appreciated the similarities between the two in terms of layout (or even that the GT-1B existed!), with the new GX-1B looking like a cool update of the "1B" range.
  11. ... then I shall cancel my strongly worded letter to The Times 😉
  12. I also have an electric drum kit at the lads , he has moved and hasn’t the room for it, so I’m getting it back . technically I do have a bit of space already , but it would be starting to get a bit of a squeeze, and as Mrs Lurks cleans the room I don’t want to make it too difficult for her 😉
  13. Just to be clear the price I am asking is £3000. That being said I am sure anyone who might have an interest in a Bass of this quality and condition would drop me a message to negotiate.

  15. Welcome Simon
  16. Welcome back Simon 😀
  17. I should point out that this is banter, I fear I might be coming across a bit too serious. Just digging you in the ribs...
  18. High-end ambient reverb pedal inspired by the legendary Lexicon 224 and Vangelis’ Blade Runner soundscapes. Delivers lush plates and expansive halls with deep modulation, pitch vector control, and pristine stereo operation. Ideal for ambient, post-rock, and cinematic textures. Great condition, a small mark on one of the knobs and a very small scratch over the 9v label. Velcro on underside. No box. Price assumes cleared funds and second class postage. Any questions, drop me a line. Cheers
  19. Oh aye? Got an order number, have you?
  20. I refer the honourable gentleman to his post of 02/01/26 15:01 "It goes by date of order". "Order". No mention of payment.
  21. Another "Rics are wrong because they aren't Fenders" issue. 🙂

  23. If you pay the luthier a deposit in this calendar year, I'd say you're out. Talk is cheap...
  24. In my Happy New Year message to my luthier, sent 31/12/2025 I said I'll be in touch about a new commission and gave some details. I would argue that the initial contact counts as the first stage of the ordering process. And as it happened last year I'm still in!
