  2. I like living in the central belt of Scotland, and I feel there's everything I need here. But, when I'm in the classifieds or when an offer like this crops up, I realise the UK is a big place!
  3. You are welcome. You have a good feedback history so I wasn't stepping outside of my comfort zone at all. If you are ever in the vicinity you are welcome to PM me then.
  4. This one arrived today, wenge, was ordered on eBay on 29th August. It is very good. Ignore the slight imperfections on the fretboard, that was me experimenting with adding some light wear patina to it and now I am trying to get rid of it. Until I start making my own, I get all my necks from China for my builds
  5. nope but the Wee DI looks like something I'd use
  6. Good one! A doff of my hat to you sir. (You can collect your redundancy payment on your way out... heeheehee)
  7. Afraid not but thanks for the offer, very good of you.
  8. Are you within easy travelling distance of Spondon, Derby? If so PM me to set up a trial.
  9. I also think that making the rotten part obviously obvious (voluntary redundancy) is the thing to do...
  10. After reading the available material through, I am amazed that the material is downloaded only in so small numbers. Good text, lots of exercises to anyone playing bass.
  11. Saturday night was a trip to London to play the legendary What's Cookin', for my friend Rich Davies and his band The Dissidents. I've been part of the band since 2016 and we have kept the same lineup throughout. They are all insanely good players and I like the fact that this keeps me on my toes. We had one rehearsal and I spent the week going through the set at home as we don't play live often and Rich had changed some keys of songs. I'd initally thought of bringing my Rickenbacker but midweek decided to change to my long scale Hofner Verythin bass. Rich wanted me to bring my Blackstar rig but I hate London load ins so when I found out there was a house rig, I was happy to use that. Having travelled up with the keyboard player, we arrived in good time, only to find out our drummer was not so fortunate. We wound up sound checking without him whilst a kit sharing support band quietly twitched! Thankfully he arrived and we got all set up. The nice thing was I had a bunch of old mates show up, including a singer I worked with for 10yrs, a roadie from a previous band and the guy who does the videos in my main band. We went on and just killed it. Due to the tube strike, the venue was quieter than usual but respectably half full and all eyes were on the band. Props to the support act who danced at the back throughout our set. The downside was that an accident on the M25 meant I got in at 3.15am but it was a superb evening.
  12. Tc electronic Bg250 15" bass amp combo. Great combo. Feature packed. 15" speaker. Features Inpit Gain Bass Middle Treble Tube drive Toneprint Master Pedal input Built in tuner USB connection Mute Aux in (for play along etc) Headphone jack Pre and post eq Di out Easy one hand lift. This was bought for a gig (I'm usually all in ears). Did a fantastic job, just no longer needed. It is tatty as per photos but works brilliantly. Absolute bargain. Pick up Leyland Lancashire
  13. I think I've played through one 18" in my life, and I remember it being absolutely incredible. It was probably a mix of the stage, cab, amp and my bass, but the onstage sound was almost perfect. I can't remember the exact amp but i think it might have been an old solid state Marshall. Since then, i was looking for a cheap 18" cab until the past 5 years, until i got an old 15" combo. Kinda does the same job but i think i'd really like to experiment!
  14. To be honest, I can't remember... It was 7 years ago, and I've slept since then
  15. Ampeg Pro Neo bass speaker cabinet in very good condition as you can see in the pictures this is an 8 ohm cabinet? As you can see on the back? 850 Watt has 4 x10 eminence speakers inside put a high frequency horn unit controlled at the back. This was used with a second identical in the 60s band so bought for Sound tone rather than volume The speaker comes in the flight case purposely made by Ultrasonic. The flight case is on casters and fits perfectly and protect the speaker as you can see in the picture collection only due to the size of the buyer to make arrangement to be picked up . this is for one cab and need to move this on due to need space £400

  16. I can't see Gibson getting their panties in a twist about JA playing the T4, I mean, realistically it's just a bass, they might as well come after me as well!

  18. Do you come across any 18 inch cabs? I have one that I love, even though I might never get the chance to play with it at significant volume. I have a workshop/practice room at the back of the house with an Ashdown 15" combo (Toneman 300) and the 18 inch TE as an extension. They haven't been used at all since I had to stop practising there. I was supervising a vulnerable adult indoors, full-time, and needed to be ready to drop everything with little or no notice. In the main house, I used a Laney RB3 because less Watts meant that I could turn it up to where the amp was nearer to its most efficient output. I could then continue to practise, whilst being readily available to deliver care as required. The household benefited* from the lower volumes generally. Since I have been on my own in the house, I've been lax about going back out to practise. I'd like to get back to being able to go through a set list in the workshop without undue distraction. 'Nuff waffle, else you'll be wanting maple syrup or summat with it. I wanted to ask you to keep an eye out for me. One of the reflex port liners on my cab is visibly damaged with a piece missing from its flange. I suppose TE could find me a new one. The cost and the newness against a rich patina on the rest of the cab plus the fact that I am a notorious skinflint prevents me. If you are breaking a similar cab for parts, I would be interested in getting hold of a replacement, used, port liner or two for mine. Let's talk should this be on the cards at any point. I am impressed by your "hobby" if I may call it that. I would love to see your collection. *I say benefited but it would be more truthful to say tolerated.
  19. Thanks mate....and yes, of course Gibson took umbrage 🙄. I wonder if that's why Jeff Ament doesn't play the JAXT live on stage anymore....(Gibson issues)...
  20. On closer inspection, I had only downloaded audio for sessions 1-11 (always have been better at starting projects than finishing them!) @Rich How did you get yours to upload neatly?
  21. Hi Rich (and anyone reading this) Looking through the thread here, I didn't spot the mp3s for sessions 1-13, so I've just fired up my old laptop and voila! (I don't have mp3 files for sessions 12 and 13 so I'm wondering if maybe there weren't any originally? I'll check the pdfs to be sure) 1 Relative Minor Triads.mp3 10 Reading in Cut Common.mp3 11 Alternative Fingerings.mp3 1a Major Scale Triads and Their Relative Minor Triads.mp3 2 Major Scale Triads.mp3 2a Major Scale Triads.mp3 3 Flat 5s in Dom7 and m7 Chords.mp3 4 Introduction to Odd-Metre and Multiple Time Sigs.mp3 5 Tritone, Whole-tone Scale and Cycle of 5ths.mp3 6 First Position Sight Reading.mp3 7 First Position Sight Reading Key Sig Changes.mp3 8 The Turnaround.mp3 9 Syncopation.mp3

  23. Maybe not the most useful comment but i regulaly use the Xvive U4 IEM system and its been flawless. My only negative is that it seems to stay on unless its been switched off. It doesnt go into a sleep mode as far s i can tell. This might be the same. saying that, my cheapo harley benton wifi doesnt either so maybe its standard. Techwise though, i'd be confident in Xvive.
  24. I did just pop Spencer a quick message about converting and he's come back saying Gibson took umbrage so the bridge manufacturer isn't working with them at the moment. Anyhow, I freaking love the Hamer!
  25. You did mate, still enjoying the shorty Ash. Hope you find a nice Sterling, still probably my favourite EBMM….if I could find a nice lightweight one in Starry Night I’d be in hog heaven.

  27. I love it. Ive not had any issues at all. Latency seems below what i can hear. Sound quality is as good as a cable (to my ears), and it's smaller than my other systems. They also seem to be better shielded than the Lekato's I have. No hum etc. Battery life seems really good. After a 4 hour rehearsal I can still get a couple of nights playing at home before charging, and charging is fast enough (no slower than anything else either have.) According to my charger each device charges at 2watts. Im only using them with a passive P bass and a Yamaha BB425. The 425 has quite a song output but it doesn't cause the system any issues. No idea what an active bass would do, but there is a setting for that which I guess reduces the input signal a bit.
