  2. Ooh, lovely basses, and a proper rig 👍
  3. As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £10.50 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears the Eden's seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

  4. Reduced to £50. Kent Armstrong Bass Humbucker for a 4 string bass. Circa 1990 when I purchased new and still in excellent condition and virtually unmarked. It's been in two of my basses over the last 35 years and sounds great. I think these were handmade, add £7.00 for UK insured postage.

  6. Now £95.00. Boss RV-6 for sale, this one is mint and in perfect working order, no box, collection welcome or UK insured postage for £8.50 BOSS RV-6 Reverb Effects Pedal Combining high-end sound and wide-ranging versatility, the BOSS RV-6 takes pedal-based reverb to the next level. Reaching beyond the capabilities of previous generations, this powerful stomp employs the latest tech and legendary BOSS know-how to make it easy to get amazing reverb tones instantly. From subtle rooms to modern shimmer effects to long, evocative reverbs, the RV-6 envelops your tone in lush ambient spaces that endlessly inspire. BOSS RV6, Simply Great-Sounding Reverbs Packing the latest BOSS DSP and updated algorithms, the BOSS RV-6 gives you eight highly musical reverb effects in one compact pedal. Add body and depth to your core tone with standards like Room, Hall, and Plate, dial up swirling richness with the Modulate setting, or surf it up with a vintage-style Spring reverb. Dynamic mode automatically adjusts the effect depth to your playing touch, providing deep, immersive reverb that won’t turn your tone to mud. And modern players will love the new Shimmer and Reverb+Delay modes. Dialed-In Reverb Sounds at Your Command The BOSS RV6 makes getting high-quality reverb sounds with your guitar quick and easy—just select a sound mode, tweak the knobs to taste, and play. But while its operation is simple, the RV-6’s sound is rich and sophisticated. Under the hood, each mode includes a huge array of detailed reverb parameters, all perfectly tuned for guitar by the BOSS engineers with direct input from many pro players and sound engineers. Even as you adjust the selected mode with the Time and Tone knobs, many parameters are simultaneously adjusted inside to create the ideal voicing for every setting. Analog Dry Tone and Versatile I/O While the BOSS RV-6’s reverb effects are high-tech digital, you can rest assured that your straight guitar tone always remains pure analog as the effect is blended in. Convenient auto-switching jacks let you integrate with any pedal chain, with support for mono, mono-to-stereo, and stereo-to-stereo operation. And by plugging into the B input only, the BOSS RV6 outputs a 100-percent wet sound, great for working with more complex rigs that employ parallel processing chains and mixers. There’s also a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal, allowing you to control the effect level in real time as you play.
  7. This is all super interesting and I’m mulling over carefully. Yes, I did sell the bass for £250 to my friend’s young son. He was/is chuffed to bits with it (the parts are worth way more individually and together make for a brilliant bass and he’s getting on with it great) and I’m really pleased it went to someone who is at the start of their musical life.
  8. I had an early original SR which I played all thru the eighties which I was very attached to even tho it wasn't that great. Then one day in the late 90's I picked up a JV? Squire P bass. Sold the Ray a month later without any qualms at all. Which suggested to me that playability (tone feel etc) in an instrument kinda trumped my emotional attachment.
  9. Where one can Come Back & Stay.
  10. Not necessarily. It's not just about outright volume, but about where that volume happens in the frequency range. You need excursion, as Bill notes, to reproduce low frequencies at high level. You also need a well-designed cabinet that makes the most of the output from the driver(s). A properly ported cab' like the BF will do this better than a plain box like the Ashdown. 4x10s tend to be sealed boxes with drivers wired series/parallel - less efficient than ported designs and with less bass extension. If you look at cone area, with drivers of the same efficiency, a single 15 has more cone area than two 10s (176 sq in vs 157 sq in). So if that 15 has twice the excursion of the 10s (especially in a well-designed cab'), it will be louder and have better bass output than four of those 10s, because it can shift more air. If the 15 is more efficient than the 10s, the difference will be even greater.
  11. Hi everyone. Got together with @warwickhunt, @cd_david and Tim yesterday for a bit of a plunk and natter. Here's some pics.
  12. I know you have suggested that a Markbass combo might be out of your price range , what about used ? I regularly use my older Markbass CMD121P for practice at home ( use seperate amp and cab out gigging) when compared to the various newer rumbles around the local rehearsal spaces , it blows their socks off in terms of clarity at volume . I have to say when I know were going to be playing in a place with a rumble 100 I commit to taking my own markbass as it can be frustrating as no matter what i do with the EQ they seem to stay very wooly as the volume goes up , it could be the way it reacts to my active bass rather than a passive fender style one ... but i wouldnt say i love the " tone shaping options" I used to have a bunch of behringer ultrabass combo's both the 800 and the 1200 i loved the kickback feature and they were very loud , but yes lacking in tone options A solution to do what you want on a budget could be to you use the power section on those Behringers bypass their EQ and use a more modern device like a valetone Gp5 or perhaps their more analogue dapper bass instead https://www.thomann.co.uk/valeton_dapper_bass_mini.htm
  13. Is that "no sound" or "it is fine on its own but gets lost in the mix once everyone else starts to play"?
  14. Are you going to put some extra safety resistor to the output, in case the cable is disconnected? Do the connectors have suitable switches?
  15. If I see a relicd guitar or bass on stage, im not hanging around to hear the band. If I see a video thumbnail with thumb about to slap string, im not clicking on it. I don't like bass solos. If I see a fish sticker on the back of a car, I will expect the driver to be incompetent. If anyone calls their kids "dude" or "guys" then their children should be immediately taken in to care and the parent should be put in solitary confinement in Broadmoor.
  16. I have a Steinberger L2 , it is lovely are the bolts in the front or the back of the body ?
  17. Impending retirement means that I need to de-clutter, beginning with some of my beloved basses. A Beautiful bass bought from here, with a great sound, which I am just not using much. It is the real deal with gorgeous looks and construction in my honest opinion. Someone out there will love it. It is also loud enough to practice with without an amp IMHO! Happy to post as it comes with a generic hard case that fits archtop basses "The Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale bass guitar has a comfortably short scale at 30.25", and is armed with two powerful "Black Top" Filter'Tron™ bass pickups, giving it an electrifying deep-end voice and identity. The double-cutaway hollow and bound body offers full bass tone and balance, and is finished in Transparent Red." Note: I have been asked about neck dive, just in case you are worried about that this is my answer. "I can't say that it has bothered me,. Being an true hollow body/archtop It is very light and hangs horizontally, but it feels normal to rest my right arm on the body, which pushes the neck upwards to a comfortable, natural playing position. It also feels good sitting down. I imagine that the longer scale Gretsch hollows may have serious neck dive". G5442BDC Spec sheet.pdf
  18. That’s not a Classic Vibe neck either, looks like cheapo Chinese in nitro, might be nice but might not be

I have a CIOKS CRUX that would do the job. I will try it for the sake of seeing how well it works but I have no intention of lugging around a pedalboard with CIOKS plus CRUX to power this. I just wanted something small, light and self-contained. The laptop charger seems the best option so far.
  20. Say's only the neck is for sale.
  21. Im sure the more seasoned amp knowers will be along shortly but ill ask a few pre-reqs 1 , What type of bass is it Active or passive , if active it could be that your active battery is low ... on my older stingrays this is how they go before they cut out. 2. Are we talking zero sound / noise at all or is the volume is incredibly low 3. Have you tested the cable / bass on another amp or even just by unplugging the bass itself and touching the jack to see if you generate feedback noise.
  22. Hey , terry its easy to edit your post , on the right hand side where the triple dot is , you should be able to click it and edit your message to say its 4 ohm.
  23. In my last post, done about 5 minutes ago, I said y speaker cab was 5 ohms it is 4 ohms as you may have guessed. TerryG
  24. Note: Impending retirement means it's time to de-clutter my life, starting with some of my beloved basses. This is a "classy" instrument and real workhorse. It has been well used in the past, so has numerous small marks (Check photos nothing nasty) and has had the stacking knobs replaced prior to my ownership. Outstanding features are the outstanding playability and sound, as it is very versatile and have loads of punch. Very cool and understated IMHO. Fully functional and plays like a dream! Open to offers but not trades. "The SR3005 is a five string Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 1999. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen as part of the upscale Prestige line. The SR3005 features a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a SR5 wenge an bubinga neck with a 24-fret wenge fingerboard with abalone oval position markers and a matching headstock. Components include a Mono Rail bridge with 16.5mm string spacing, a pair of IBZ sfr-m humbucker pickup's channeled through a Vari-Mid 3LC 3-Band, a plastic nut, cosmo black hardware and Gotoh 510 tuning machines."
