  2. But you can't rely on solutions that require specific actions by end users. I'm sure your solution works fine for you, but it requires other users to: 1. Use Opera, at least for viewing Basschat, which means for those people who don't already have it downloading and installing it. 2. Know how to turn on VPN and remember to turn it off afterwards to prevent problems with websites to require you to have a UK IP address. For most people this is simply too much effort, and if I was an Imgur user I'd be looking to move to a host whose images will display everywhere.
  3. Hmmm, I just received this from Andertons: "Repairs like this aren't very economical to repair and sometimes impossible due to the nature of them! We can arrange for a replacement or I'd be happy to offer £30 in Andertons points if you'd like to keep the bass. This can be spent on our website! I'd also be happy to recommend another bass if you'd like?" £30 store credit is not helpful. If they offered a discount to cover repairs by a local tech that would have been better. I assume a luthier could repair the fretboard gouge? I will ask for a replacement with the same model. If they cannot replace it with the same model what would people suggest as an alternative (at similar value) given my husband doesn't like pick guards, fender colours, or more than four strings?
  4. Hi any interest in a trade for a japan custom shop fender 75 reissue. Old camdy apple red. Matching headstock, blocks binding etc plus cash your way
  5. I’d only ever leave a band because it wasn’t working, never for a better option. Loyalty is a big part of music 👍
  6. Afraid I did this once. Left a band with a lovely group of younger guys as I had the opportunity to join a band playing at a higher level (supporting US touring Blues artists). Was given the gig only to turn up to the first rehearsal to hear they were already there, and someone was playing bass. Should have stuck with the first band.
  7. I have submitted a support ticket so let's see what they say. 😊
  8. Thanks - it does look like a lot of bass for the money and I hope he will be pleased with it. I have contacted Andertons asking for a replacement or repair and await a response. I mentioned the batteries were dead but didn't mention the possibility of faulty electronics. When I tested it with new batteries it didn't seem to do that much when messing with the controls so you might be right. It's now out of stock so I hope they offer to repair it rather than refund it.
  9. I'm in France, so not really concerned by the UK blockage, myself. However, as I post mostly on BC, and most BC members are in the UK, there was no point in my continuing to post Imgur pictures; indeed, all the Imgur pictures I've posted over the decades are now not visible any more (thanks, Imgur...). I can't assume that BC members will use a VPN, even less so if it's just to see my, or other, Imgur pictures, so I've got shot of it all, and now post directly into my BC picture allocation. Not ideal, as I wanted to not load the BC resources, but I have found no reasonable hosting alternative for now. If I do, I'll adopt it. I post far fewer pictures than in the past, though, so it's not a big deal. Still, all the past Modelling Build logs, Gardening photos, even my Smilies, are gone for ever. Up until recently, I'd recommended Imgur as being a Good Hosting Environment. No more, alas; no more. I now curse them roundly.
  10. For weird, read cheapskate.
  11. Leaving a gigging band that you've been with with for several years because of a better band opportunity is not easy. Share any stories where you left your mates for a better opportunity. How long had you been in the band ? Did you disappoint the other members? Why was it a better opportunity, how did you deliver the bad news? How much notice did you give? Lastly did it actually turn out to be a better opportunity? I've never left a band for another. Daryl
  12. That's a good point. Even with an empty roo, If the band is playing well and I'm playing at the top of my game empty rooms don't bother me as much. Daryl
  13. How/why has nobody bought this?! if I didn’t already have one I’d be having this!
  14. selling my incredible 1975 Musicman HD130 amp. Bought this back in 2021 and had a flight case made it for it straight away. Was serviced just before I bought it as well. Sounds amazing.

  16. Great useful pedal from trustworthy bass chatter 😎
  17. Hi ! I think I like them !

  19. The Opera browser has a built-in switchable VPN that comes quite handy. Imgur image not displayed? Click on VPN and refresh. You can manually select a rough location worldwide, but whatever it chooses by default seems to work, so far. Click again the VPN button to turn it off, and you're back in the UK.
  20. I do not have anything to add about his artistry, but I liked the fact that he apparently specced basses with no strap buttons. Sitting down is the best.
  21. Open to trades of an HX Stomp or will take £400 cash pound notes Ok this was for a project but I no longer need it. This is a brand new Allparts Jazz neck, never installed of used. Since purchasing I have added a Fender Logo supplied by Rothko & Frost and a bone nut. The frets have been dressed, fretboard oiled and it's in beautiful condition. David Wilson then completely finished the neck in lacquer with a lovely tint on the face, his work is outstanding. In total this neck owes me about £600

  22. Selling my Khan VTDI - sounds brilliant but is now surplus to requirements. It fattens up your DI sound and gives it that valve warmth and compression. sounds amazing in IEMs. I don’t think there are loads of these in the UK - I bought it from Khan in the USA earlier this year - with taxes and shipping they now work out as £615 when brand new so hopefully the price seems fair. The tube probably has under 15 hours total play time. i can’t find any marks or dings but am always tentative to lost something as ‘mint’ but its very close to it. The Khan Logo lights up in a very satisfying way. Price includes UK Special Delivery Shipping or I can meet in central London or Chessington and knock a bit off the price.

  23. One of my favorite:
  24. Turro is a thief and a megabell. Sapko and all the other Youtubers mentioned are megabells. I find them all grating, so I don't watch them. In fact, Sapko, Davie504, Charles Berthoud and Scott Devine are the 4 megabell horsemen of the apocalypse as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who thinks that anything will change other than Sapko's bank balance because of his "moral stand" is deluded. Turro will go back to doing what he does, stealing other people's work and Sapko will get the clicks and ad money from our collective outrage. Then, he might figure out something else to say "bass" about in a hyper stylised northern accent.
  25. Hmmm, nice. And im in Barry!
  26. They remind me of some EV single 18" subs a venue I worked in had about 26 years ago, and they were probably a good few years old then. They were probably about 10 times the weight of your designs, but those EVs used to act like they had sold their soul to the sub-frequency devil and rumble away like mad! I have fond memories of them - I assume yours will be just as good if not better!
  27. He's just been told the price of that Fodera! 🤭
