  2. Hmm. There was a thread about the EMG E series as possible replacements for the Bartolini BH2s in Ibanez EHB 5-strings. They are the Bartolini P4 shape, 117x32mm, while the EMG E6W is 119x32mm. These on the HILS look slightly smaller, 114x30mm? It might take a little woodwork or smaller pickups than those I mentioned.
  3. I've literally never heard of a piccolo snare until now. Every day's a school-day 🙂
  4. Have a look at the Sire sandblasted basses if you want light. Fenders etc can all vary as well. I have a Squier CV Jazz which is just over 9lbs, but that’s a 4 string.
  5. Structurally sound wooden case with light-to-medium external road wear and built like the proverbial brick out-house. Custom-made for a Wilcock Mullarkey, which it fits like the proverbial glove, but would be easily adaptable to fit anything else that's not too long for it. Price excludes delivery for which the buyer will be responsible. If you're interested ping me a PM and I'll send pics and confirm dim's.
  6. Backdoor Santa - Clarence Carter
  7. The Indonesian Cirrus 5 is indeed a sleeper! I have one here that is silly money for its quality. I think the previous owner gave it a fret job and the neck is skinnier than other examples I have tried, but OMG, dump a set of Pro Steels on it and that low B is extraordinary. @kodiakblair was it you who put me on to Gillian and her collection?
  8. SPECIAL OFFER!! Free Gillett T-shirt with every pre-owned Contour bass sold on this topic!! Terms & Conditions: The buyer must be size XL.
  9. Hmmm I hadn't considered the weight. That's a good kilo heavier than what I'm playing at the moment. Is that going to be the same for Fender/Squier J type basses?
  10. Selling this as I had it on my second board, but recently got an Anagram and can do everything on one board. I used my other one of these for 5 years and never had a single issue. This one has only had maybe 20 hours of use. Price includes UK shipping.
  11. The Great American Bum — Cisco Houston
  12. Sounds great, it reminds me of some of the bass-forward performances by Dil Katz, Dave Ball and Phil Mulford with Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia with Jon Hiseman on drums.

  14. I was going to mention that - wasn't sure how clever the settings store/recall thing was, but hopefully you can make it work for your needs. Me, I don't mind reaching down to sort out the settings between songs - I use it in maybe 6-8 songs in the entire gig so it's not too bad, and the controls are big, chunky and clearly labelled, so I'm good. Plus no room on my pedalboard for footswitches. I had a shottie of an exp pedal and while it was fun making stupid noises for half an hour, I couldn't see it being particularly useful for the music I play.
  15. So one review. However I shall check when I get home and update accordingly.
  16. Oh I've done worse and had it set to 100% wet for octave up, as I was too distracted by other things to remember mid set to also change the wet/dry! However, someome on TB has pointed out I can access 3 different settings on the XS-1 using an external footswitch so I may not need to upgrade to the XS-100 after all!
  17. What amazing tone, I guess its the Sandberg DK TT and one of the latest MarkBass combo's. Great tone.
  18. love falkirk big up the scots
  19. Shame. Was hoping it would be 17mm
  20. I regularly tell a drummer I play with that he would sound better using a 26" bass drum. He just laughs!!! And I've told drummers I don't like the sound of piccolo snares!
  21. I literally had to Google it 😁
  22. Looks like 19mm at the bridge
  23. I'm wondering how many bassists get to tell the other musicians which instrument to bring along?
