  2. @dagrev by any coincidence - you don’t have any pedals in chain, even if turned off/disengaged but still fed by power supply? I noticed just today that my few pedals somehow cause this sort of interference resulting in such buzz very similar to yours. I normally have my bass plugged directly into amp but it was just tonight i poked around my pedals and all of sudden got this buzz but it died as soon as i unplugged the pedal’s power supply from mains..(the power supply is a proper one, brand new, some Harley Benton for about £65 with hundreds of great reviews so i f*ck wonder now).. Will have a look at how to trace the culprit as i have few ideas why that might be.. Btw, apologies to everyone else, we should have been posting this in some ,, troubleshooting,, section..
  3. I came across a 4x12" August cab a very, very long time ago. Late '80s or so. I'm reasonably certain that the speakers were different from what I'm seeing in your cab, though. The dust caps were not metal for sure. No recollection of how it sounded whatsoever. I bought it with a truckload of other stuff, made sure it was working and moved it on for pennies... Once in a very blue moon you'll hear someone mentioning them, but they seem to be quite rare. Good luck.

  5. This is key for me. If it’s a hobby band then I’d be very particular who I mix with. If it’s my job, then my tolerance level of dreadful people has been / would have to be adjusted somewhat, in order to put food on the table. This is only the same as working anywhere else, large companies etc. Not ideal by a long shot, but an inevitable compromise nevertheless. However, for me there are still lines that need to be drawn that I don’t cross.

  7. Rumbles are very much the standard recommendation for moderately priced bass amps. However, I wonder if one would be all that much of an improvement on what you have. It would certainly be better, but by how much? Re. your comment above, I'm in a similar position, although I'm a couple of years older and, touch wood, in good health. My attitude is that if I want something nice, I'll have it if it's within budget. I can't take it with me. If I do save my pennies and end up in a care home, they'll take most of it off me to pay the fees. So treat yourself to that Markbass if you can afford it.

  9. This. If they are up to snuff musically and don't wish/try to convert others to their worldview, I could put up with it, provided they don't subscribe to any hate-fuelled stuff. So flat earthers would be OK, whilst those who shout at hotels wouldn't.
  10. Hey guys so is it ok to post about the Little Giant amps here? im looking to see if anyone has a set of the rack ears?
  11. Depends if it's a hobby band or your main source of income. Finding yourself on a tour as a paid side musician might have a different slant on it. You may not have to spend any free time with them, just rehearsals and performances, or you may have to spend hours on a bus with them. I guess in those circumstances you'd have to wait until you get other work, or just hope they don't attract any media attention. Wasn't there a pretty famous bass player here who had an 'audience with' tour. He was given quite a bit of stick here for it's content and never posted again.
  12. The mould has been made and the first layers are being put down...I would share a photo of the first neck in a vacuum bag but it's not pretty.
  13. Yet sadly I’ve read anecdotes indicating for many years, across many industries, people did.
  14. I will put up a few pix when it comes next week!
  15. Cheers! It's a weird one, I was prepared to pay nearly double that and to wait until the right bass came along. But after nearly paying almost £3k for a CS a few months ago (the only reason I didn't was because my wife had to have a minor operation on her hands that would mean her being off work for a couple of months), this seems to be the right bass for the right money. I've already got a really nice late 70s P bass, so if I did get a CS, would I stop gigging that to justify paying £3k for a CS? This looks to be a really solid P bass for a reasonable price. I was encouraged by the opinion of my mate who trades guitars a lot, and by that of a couple of guys on this thread who seem to know their stuff. I did have a AVRI 58 at one point, which was great (the only reason I sold it was to buy the 70s P), so this one should be at least as good. I will let you know how I get on with it when I get chance to play it properly, which might be a while as I have road gigs for the next two weekends and then I'm on holiday for the rest of the month!
  16. Pictures please, when you can @peteb
  17. I'd like to give Richard a 5* TripAdvisor review here. He gave me very similar advice, and it worked. I went into a new band earlier this year and got the jitters for the first time in years. I was overly self-conscious, scared of making mistakes, all that stuff. Following this very simple advice I managed to get into a mindset where it was just me playing along with the songs in the same way I do when practising. Good luck, cherish the experience and remember that there's so many people channeling good energy your way.
  18. Nice one Pete, they are very good, look forward to hearing what you think
  19. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.
  20. I wonder how many of the people here who have said that they'd just get on with it and play in the band, letting the other "-ist/-phobic" people have their opinions, tick any of the targets of "-ism/-phobia" boxes themselves? I cannot imagine that if they were gay, black, trans, or whatever that they would tolerate those bigoted people. For example, if you were gay, there's absolutely no way you're going to tolerate being in a band with a couple of openly homophobic musicians. I've been really lucky through the years generally and in my current main band you know you're in safe hands with zero tolerance for any of the -ist nonsense.
  21. I’ve no idea about my band members views on political, religious or gender issues. Then again, they all seem to be a fairly educated, intelligent bunch. So if they came out with something offensive to me - I’d have to ask if it was a difference of opinion or if they were loony Roundabout painters… If someone is racist or bigoted - I call them out and then remove them from my life. So I’d either sack them from the band - or quit.
  22. Getting the taste out of your mouth? There is no such thing as one polo mint. They hunt in bags.
  23. So long as they aren't asking for me to correct their worldview I can work with them. I get you are more talking about the evangelical sharing kind of misfit though.
  24. Another band I know well have been using a Stairville CLB5 for their gigs. What seems particularly neat about this unit (although my mate's band are not using it this way) is the ability to set one or two of the units to light up the stage area in white with a steady beam, but have the the remaining two or three units in colour to light up the dance floor with sound to light, and manage to do that all without DMX. I think I'm going to give it a spin as a relatively budget one-stop solution to enhance both the stage and audience lighting for the band. It's also a lot more compact than my Chauvet GigBar2 and therefore will be a lot easier to take to gigs and consequently likely to get more use!
