A fun one at The Golden Lion in Bristol last night. Our friends from Motorik Road Trip added us onto the lineup with some other doomy bands, and also brought up our Cornish friends, Tüsk. The main annoyance of the evening was getting across Bristol. With the massive amount of roadworks across the south, one accident combined with the rugby ending had the city backed up for hours. It took about an hour and a quarter to get my band mates and get to the venue. It should have taken about half that. We had a few mistakes, but it was a fun gig nonetheless! Gear was my usual Dingwall Combustion, Boss GX-100, Laney Digbeth head and then into a misc 410 bass cab. The first act was a guy just playing bass and synth into three valve amps (Thunderverb, Matamp 200w hobby, and a big Fender bass tube head in a big cage). Big Sunn((())) vibes. Knackered now after being woken up by my daughter at 5:50 😴

SR5N neck (22 fret, 43mm nut, to fit OG EB SR5) £480
Kiwi posted a topic in Graphite neck - ordering
I'm pleased to say that this month we will be working up a mould for the standard EB SR5 bass, with the 22 fret neck. Measurements are to be confirmed but the same options will be available for this neck that are available for the other necks (below). Necks come with: PEEK fingerboard with MOP side dots, Luminay side dots are available for £10 upcharge. Rosewood, ebony and wenge fingerboards are available for a £75 upcharge. Fretless (lined or unlined) is a £30 upcharge. Fingerboard inlays: MOP or abalone dots are standard, MOP blocks are a £30 upcharge. Abalone blocks are also available but slightly smaller than jazz blocks. Other options - please talk to me. TUSQ nuts installed but not slotted (slotting requires a string gauge to be assumed) 21 stainless steel frets (levelled to a straight neck) Double action truss rods (heel capstan wheel style adjustment) M4x40 neck bolts and inserts will be supplied. (NB the necks don't come pre-drilled because neck bolt locations vary from bass to bass, the inserts must be used) Tuner holes are drilled ( TBC) but screw holes for tuners are not (again, because different tuner designs have different hole locations) NB: Dimensions are consistent with SR5 necks but are not Ernie Ball Music Man licensed products or in anyway associated with Ernie Ball Inc. obviously. There may be fractions of a millimetre difference due to manufacturing tolerances, we recommend having an experienced luthier fit the neck for the best possible fit. All rights to trademarks belong to their respective owners etc. Specifications subject to change without notice due to continual, ongoing improvements. -

How was your gig last night?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassninja's topic in General Discussion
Great gig last night. A long long day and all for charity. 7 tribute artists across three back line bands. The event was sold out a couple of hours before doors. Line up was Bon Jovi (Jon Jovi), Alanis Morissette, Elton John, ABBA, Elvis, David Bowie (ChangesTwoBowie) & Queen (Queenage) - plus encores from 4 of them. I played Bowie and Queen plus the encore set. It's nice to get paid, but to have an audience go this nuts for the songs they love, I'd do it again tomorrow. A truly remarkable ensemble who I'm honoured to have as friends. Not sure what the final total is yet, but I'm expecting it to be lots of thousands. -
Says that the EQ is boost only. All the other reviews I've seen say it's boost and cut. I shall have more of a play tomorrow.

You could use a powerblock - admittedly you'd still need a cable between light and powerblock, but you wouldn't need a mains socket for it. I've got five of them incoming for the grand total of £11 (two for £4.50 and a minimum order of £10), so need to think about how to power them.

For a second there I thought you were talking about well polished boots.

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

I remember reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for the first time and something about it seemed odd, and I realised it was the first book I'd read with ragged right justification. -
My '87 JD was my main bass for 20 years until I went to 5-strings in 2007, and it's still with me getting the occasional run out. Superb neck - it took a long time to find a 5-string with an equivalently playable neck. I assume the OP's is from a transition period (though I don't know how long a period), as it's got the 2-piece bridge rather than the earlier one-piece Schaller, and a JAN I, but it has a carved rear to the headstock rather than the plain flat rear, and a separate battery compartment rather than the battery living in the control cavity as it dd later.

I was looking rather for a rechargeable, autonomous version, to be placed freely anywhere, with no cabling. The effect looks good, so I'll keep on looking.

I ended up going the splitter/mixer pedal route and just ordered one of these... Thanks for the tips. I'll be keeping a watch out for phasing anomalies.

I got one from AliExpress for about £40. Just went back, looked at the order and went to the item currently on sale - £140! The difference is the unheadstock end. The A type with the bigger lump has an integral adjustable nut and clamps concealed by the cover. The B type has five little clamp things so presumably you supply your own nut. The guitar equivalent of the A type is fitted to the Jamstik Studio MIDI guitar - https://jamstik.com/collections/midi-guitars/products/b-stock-of-jamstik-studio-midi-guitar?variant=45365173125345 There's a drawing of the A type unheadstock at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007488329170.html

A mate had one of these in full form and even with the shonky “ABT” own brand pickups it was a burpy marvel - a very lovely thing; think he paid £100 for it. id persevere and spray it an obnoxious metallic orange or green neon once you’ve resolved its issues x
