  1. Past hour
  2. Agree, your browser auto-completed the password. G4M are still going - I ordered some bits from them a few weeks ago.
  3. Breakfast at Sweetheart's - Cold Chisel
  4. Singing last night in Patterdale in a concert with the community choir. Mostly American Song Book stuff and musical theatre.
  5. I’m Eating in Bed - Cardiacs
  6. Breakfast In Bed - UB40 and Chrissie Hynde
  7. Today
  8. I've found a few open Mic nights this eve on your rec and so I'll be checking them out in the next week or so
  9. My brother In law is a drummer and we've jammed before and I spent months looking for guitar players and a singer which we did eventually find but after one jam he backed out sighting life issues and the other three just fell apart sadly
  10. Swallow It - Brandon Flowers
  11. Are there any open mics or jam nights near you? Would be worth exploring if there are. Also, are there any rehearsal studios around by you? They're worth checking out for adverts and putting your own adverts in. Bassists are generally quite in demand, almost as much as drummers.
  12. Very nice. And, fortunately, sold (not to me).
  13. Basic personal hygiene - bath or shower at some point in the day before going to audition. If you're nominally clean-shaven, shave too. And make sure your clothes are clean. From the "auditioning them" point of view, work out whether they're roughly as competent as you. A bit better is fine, it'll pull you up. A little worse should be OK, especially if you can pull them up. On which subject, work out whether criticism can be given and taken if you can.
  14. No, your browser auto completed your password for you, the web site certainly didn't, otherwise what would be the point of having a password? So maybe in the time since you last ordered you have either changed your password on some other device, or put it wrong on that computer or they have auto changed their passwords a while back, but either way it sis wrong. But no, no trouble ordering with Gear4music last time I did it which was last month.
  15. Well, I am sure it isn't easy to accidentally release them. I am not a dingwall fan, but they do put effort into their custom hardware, so I would imagine they have thought it through completely. I don't want one anyway, as i have been put of dingwalls, but like to see a bit of innovation where it happens.
  16. Bad Taste In My Mouth - The Kooks
  17. Yesterday
  18. Sadly that sounds closer to my wrongo than the bongo!
  19. I couldnt live with that headstock at all. But then luckily they have a string spacing I cant get with so its not an issue. They are great, had a tribute 2500, but sold it when I was trying to downsize, would have another one in a shot, for me it would be like a functional P bass.
  20. I think they would hit the mark pretty well if the person playing was blindfolded. I have heard many vintage fenders, some are great, some are dogs, most are pretty good (I guess most of the bad ones have been thrown away in the 70s), but if you didn't know it was a vintage fender, it wouldn't sound special either way. They sound good to some because they are being listened to with their eyes and heads. Youre paying for a rarity not a sound.
  21. Same here - the original cheapy ceramic pickup had got me through two gigs and two rehearsals so far and it was ok-ish. Not amazing but no horror stories and it’s a very cheap bass anyway. But soon as I soldered in the Tonerider and plugged it in - massive improvement to the sound, articulation, clarity, detail. Everything really.
  22. Just back from playing 50th wedding anniversary gig at a local social club. First gig in a little while with this band and we were all a bit knackered and out of practice despite rehearsing. But it went down well and sounded very decent. Excellent buffet too, which is a bit of a winner. I was trying out my bitsa P with its new Tonerider Classic P pickups which in dropped in last night. Sounded really nice and full, plenty of attack (the old pickups sounded like they were wrapped in a blanket). Rest of bass rig was the usual Markbass set up and my Bcb-60 full of goodies. Ready for a cuppa and bed now.
  23. I don’t think vintage basses really have a much better sound. I love my vintage bass (less for the sound and more for what it means to me). I’m not a vintage bass hater. But I do think £18.5k for the 63 Jazz Bass is crazy. It’s not a Jaco-style 62’ slab board or a stack knob. It doesn’t even have the mutes. Stick it through an amp and it’ll sound the same. I speak from experience (they really do!) Or, to put it another way, if nobody ever knew you owned it or know how much it was worth, would this bass be worth £18.5k to the person? Vintage instruments at this level are speculative investments or status symbols. That’s all good.
  24. I dont think you have over reacted. If it was that important he could have arranged a videocall. What is the worst case scenario, could he be replaced?
  25. If that were possible surely someone else would have done? Alleva Copollo, Moolon, Olinto all try but miss the mark. we can discount the ‘aging process’ as being a reason for “the sound” because the jap lawsuit stuff doesn’t sound as good, neither do similar period Gibsons or rickenbackers. But are the same materials available? Where do the trees grow and the wood cut? Are they old stored timber or grown in the same climate as what Fender used at the time? Tree felling is more strictly regulated now than it was in the 60s and transportation across continents more expensive. What about the pickup copper or magnets? Can they be produced the same way now? I assume nobody will ever know?
  26. I bought Pete’s 110 cab. Bought it Friday and it arrived safe and well on Saturday morning! How’s that for service! 😁 Great communication too. Faultless transaction. Thanks again Pete
  27. Why would they? The vintage mania is what keeps Fender relevant and cool. Reality is a modern Fender is a better instrument for gigging than a vintage one. From a purely practical point of view.
