  1. Past hour
  2. Awful news and unbelievably heartbreaking for his two young lads, who’ve lost both parents within a couple of years.
  3. £450? Madness for something this quality and collectable. Reduced to £450.
  4. RIP Mani. Far too young. They were one of my fave bands during the Madchester years.
  5. Absolute bombshell. Mani's one of the reasons I started playing Bass.
  6. No probs, they are a big of a marmite brand tbf. GLWTS
  7. See here:- https://reverb.com/item/65430137-fane-classic-15-100c-speaker It's over 10 years old so even Fane will not retain any spec details other than that on the label.
  8. From their website prEDITOR v3 allows you to instantly switch between Enzo X, MercuryX + LVX, quickly create presets, move them around, select your favorites, duplicate, swap, delete, assign your left and right favorites, import/export, access globals quickly and organize libraries.
  9. Yeah gutted. Was just looking at his upcoming tour and was going to buy tickets. Sad and no age really. Some of his lines were majestic
  10. I'd love to hear some Danley cabs in the flesh, Bill, but they're pretty well unheard of here in Blighty. Demonstration videos on YouTube are impressive, especially the amount of throw they produce, although even if you listen on quality headphones, you don't really hear what they can do. Are they really as good as they seem?
  11. Heartbreaking ! I saw his birthday in the paper the other day and couldn't believe he was 63. What a sad loss.
  12. Okay, maybe my GAS is cured Good ol' Pete looks ecstatic with his at the top of the thread, but then he's sitting down.
  13. You're worrying too much - there's only a problem with break angle over the nut when there isn't enough of it.
  14. Yes, but you need plenty of them. In terms of driver surface area, a 4x5 is the same as a 1x10. I appreciate that surface area isn't the only important thing. Excursion also plays a part. I have no problem making enough noise with my PJB 5" drivers, but I use up to five 4x5 cabs depending on how loud I need to be. In practice, four is the most I have needed. I usually use two or three. I don't know which PJB combo is the most powerful, but the specs will tell you. PJB cabs are inefficient, so you do need power to drive them properly.
  15. Here’s one for discussion. I’m restringing one of my P basses, normally I like my windings to look neat and tidy but in this case the E string seems to be taking a deep dive over the nut when wound bottom to top like this (photo). Should I be winding the E top to bottom, to reduce the angle over the nut, or am I worrying too much?
  16. The PJB amps are cleaner/more "hi fi" sounding than Aguilars in my experience. The difference between them and mine (AG700) are not great, but noticeable. The difference between them and the THs will be greater. If you like your Bassman, a TH would be worth trying. Many years ago, I ran a Bassman 135 with a 2x15. Great rig, but I'd struggle to move it around nowadays, especially as I don't have a Volvo estate any longer. I find the slight warmth of the Aguilar is a good match for the clean PJB cabs. It gives them a bit more character. Ditto my Carvin. Aguilar cabs are good, but they are expensive for what they are. You do pay for the name and the fact that they are made in the US. If you're looking at spending PJB/Aguilar money, you should definitely try before buying. If you have some nice valve amps, I'd like to hear them with PJB cabs.
  17. I have had a Stagg EUB and currently play a Yamaha SLB 200. I use either my Acoustic Image amp or a Traynor SB112 and have spent quite a bit of time playing around with the EQ on the Yamaha and the EQ's on the amps and the closest I got to an "acoustic" sound is with the Acoustic Image amp and that changes in different rooms of course, it's very frustrating. I use the Yamaha for rehearsals with a 7 piece swing band and a bluegrass band and have actually used it on a few gigs when space is limited and in both bands I can get by with a sound that is not really very "acoustic" but cuts through and is quite loud. For most gigs I use a double bass with a pickup. I am still trying to get a nice acoustic sound but have never found it, I use the Yamaha as it came from the factory with the original pickup and so far it has worked for me and the bands I play in are happy with my sound. There are quite a few discussions about this topic on here and on other sites and many ideas and opinions including some that say an EUB is not a double bass and just accept that fact and go ahead and play it as it is. Your instrument sounds interesting, any chance of a Photo?
  18. That's one word for it

  23. That question would probably be better addressed in a Super Vintage thread given that it and the aforementioned pedal are SVT recreations. (Do Tech21 make a B15 pedal?)
  24. This is sad https://uk.news.yahoo.com/stone-roses-primal-scream-bassist-160249272.html
