  1. Past hour
  2. Fender Tariffcaster perhaps?
  3. The Man Who Sold The World - Bowie
  4. Thanks for the heads up. I think I’ve just ordered the last set in stock
  5. Magnificent band. Should have been huge.
  6. John is that he always had an extremely dry sense of humour and rarely seemed entirely at ease in interviews, although if you see clips of him talking in the 70s he seems a lot more relaxed and easy-going. By this time his hearing was seriously impaired and having read his biography it seems he found situations like this quite hard work and could appear a bit withdrawn. As for his playing/tone, he always has and always will be the absolute guvnor for me. As much as I adore Chris Squire, Geddy et al, they're all standing on John's shoulders. And it should be noted, he never had the one tone, at least not until his senior years. He changed his sound quite a bit.
  7. There's probably a whole lotta wrong in the branding/marketing (it was 1971), but shit they could play, and play a whole lot better than a whole lot of all-male bands that had far more success 👍
  8. Communication with seller is a bit hard 🙄 so I don't want to ask him for an extra neck plate pic. If I finally get it I'll be back in this thread for further infos. I'm curious to identify this creature.
  9. I am going to keep my powder dry until the New Fender Player II Tariffed range is launched!
  10. Tokai has done a bolt-on copy of the Thumb. The headstock resembles Warwick's design, 26 fret neck etc.
  11. This is sublime
  12. I played this again today and noticed the bass volume pot is a bit scratchy/non linear (albeit fully functional once it is set). Probably just that its been barely touched over the years and needs some contact cleaner. To reflect this and to attempt to drum up some interest, I will lower price to £1900 inc UK delivery
  13. Now £140 inc. UK delivery
  14. Joe Dart Bass. Joe Dart Licks. Bullseye! Subscribed!
  15. Baduizm Live - Erykah Badu The Roots - Come Alive Both are live albums and the bass on both... very nice.
  16. You’re must be right. I probably can’t tell a live musician from someone faking it when I’m standing in front of them. Nobody could.
  17. One of the best bass players of all time, IMHO, who was fortunate and/or lucky to be in of the greatest rock bands of all time. Whatever any of us thinks of his bass tone or his personality, JE's musicianship and place in the history of bass guitaring is assured! Having said that, he was definitely a bit of a miserable barsteward, but given his very long career and the number of interviews he would have done over that time - plus a very insipid and slightly sycophantic interviewer on this occasion - I'm not surprised it wasn't a great listen or watch. I met him very briefly once in the mid 80s at a Daily Mirror Pop Party in London.. Me and the drummer in the band I was in at the time went up to say hello to him and, despite JE having two semi-naked Page 3 girls fawning all over him (one on either arm) , he still looked and sounded utterly bored, miserable and pissed off... 🤷
  18. I've used this offer a few times before. The only issue with the 34" scale is that if you string through the body, then the E string might not be quite long enough for some basses. No problems if you string through the bridge, or if you get the XL set.
  19. And other such believable lines such as "cheque is in the post" 😀
  20. Mark
  21. I love my current gig but man, I wanna do a Beck tribute act, I just love the basslines and the general madness of it all 👍
  22. The Candy Man - Sammy Davis Jr
  23. My really nice Fretless Bass with a solid Alder body, Maple neck & a beautifully figured Slab Rosewood lined fingerboard, plays like the proverbial dream and sounds great with oodles of mwoarrrrr. In excellent condition with just a few light play marks. Suitable for either the seasoned Fretless player, or due to the low action and fret lines this would be excellent for a beginner or an inexpensive way to try a Fretless if you’ve always fancied one, but didn’t want to spend a lot of your Great British pounds in case Fretless is not for you. Set up really nicely with a low action all the way up the neck, a lovely rich ‘woody’ sound & the bridge pickup provides instant Jaco when required, otherwise it can be played without the Mwoarrr. Nice and light at 3.7kg or a tad over 8lbs in ‘old money’ according to my digital scales. The lines thankfully extend over the sides of the fingerboard making intonation a doddle, even for an old duffer like me. In excellent condition, with just a few play wear marks, but nothing serious. Specs……. Solid three piece? Alder Body Maple Neck Lovely Figured Rosewood Slab lined Fretless fingerboard Yamaha Soap Bar neck & bridge pickups with individual volume and Master tone control. La Bella Flats - if memory serves. 38mm nut width, so very Jazz - esque + nice and shallow. Stagg padded Gig bag included. Any questions, please give me a shout. Can post to the U.K. Mainland via Parcelforce 24 delivery & insurance via Secursus, or collection welcome & knock £25 off the price.
