Except G&L's bits stand out are the things Leo developed while there - the bridge and pickups are an evolution of Fender, the preamp was ahead of its time (though probably dated now). I don't regret selling my 1981 L1000 - but really wish I hadn't had too. It was like the ultimate evolution of a P bass

They do come across as very inexpensive - I'm just wondering what they cheaped out on. It says they use Eminence speakers, so it's not there, and solid state amp PCBs are kinda much of a muchness these days, especially for Chinese-produced class D amps (it doesn't mention that they're class D, but they probably are). Based on the controls, inputs, etc, the PCB design for the head itself is probably still the solid state David Nordschow design that goes back to the old Nemesis heads. The Terra Nova range used this too. My concern is that the biggest head is only 500W, and that's really not all that much these days. Those cabs are going to need to be pretty efficient to get much volume from a 500W head. I'd be more enthusiastic if they had an 800W head.
-
If they do what they did with SWR, they'll keep them around for a while, then, after a few years, take the bits they like, add them to the Fender range under the Fender badge, and shutter them.

It only makes sense for Fender to buy G&L if they keep it separate entity. Migrating features of G&L instruments to their Fender counterparts would be a monumentally silly thing to do for lots of reasons. In terms of marketing G&L is an entity in its self with a profile that Fender could easily improve. It would only take a bit of razmatazz and a couple of big name endorsements to get players interested in buying G&L instruments again. To undertake creating some kind of Fender-G&L hybrid and making it successful is a much more difficult undertaking. Consider that Fender have never had an active bass that could rival the L2000, for example, and if they brought one out now it would be a hard sell to a conservative consumer base. Much better just to promote the existing model from G&L. . There's something a bit exotic about G&L, what with their history, their innovative designs and the interesting players who've played them in the past. Fender must surely have the wit to see what an opportunity this is to resurrect a potent brand. In football terms, their clean through on an open goal, all they need is but if clever marketing to put the ball in the back of the net

Loved my Eden rigs. I hope these are as good as the WTs, but I'm not holding my breath.

I loved Pentangle , and the Martyn songs , and I felt gutted when I heard he passed. I’ve looked up a lot of YouTube videos in the last several days. Legend.

Good to see them making a return, never understood the Marshall buying them thing, they did pretty much nothing with them.

Ah, I suppose as I’ve only ever played along to The Ataris version I thought the original was also Eb. Hot-dang pop-punkers! -

Seems Gear4Music have actually done something with the Eden brand. There's a whole new range of amps and cabs called the Novatone series. They look good, and they're very keenly priced. I particularly like the cabs - the rounded corners are very reminiscent of the old Nemesis stuff. No idea how they might compare to the old World Tour heads or D-series cabs, but it's nice to see that they've actually been given some attention. This is more than Marshall ever did with the brand! https://www.gear4music.com/Bass_Amps/Eden?page=1

You will probably need to order a replacement horn with a new driver at this point. I haven't seen the old style is years.

Actually, I retract what I was saying about G4M not doing anything with Eden - seems there's a load of new stuff, including the Novatone range. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Eden-NovaTone-500-Bass-Amplifier-Head/5JUR (sorry for the derail - back to G&L now )

Fender Vintera 60s Jazz vs Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz: which one?
Supernaut replied to Marvin's topic in Bass Guitars
40th Anniversary if you can find one. I had a Chinese Squier and it's far superior to that. IMHO. -
I bought an amp cover from David (that he got with an amp I sold to him about a month ago... long story!) and he was a pleasure to deal with all the way. Great comms, quick postage, nice item. Many thanks!

They usually say that the Squier Classic Vibe series are the top of the Squier range--- this one tops them all! Very good condition with very dark fretboard and black gloss. It has no scratch plate by design. It is Active with a master volume control, blend then 3 band EQ. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. Really muscular tone which is wonderful! Electrics work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. No case. Happy to post at buyers expense. £ 300 Chaddesden, Derby All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia. Please check out my other adds.

Urgh. SWR and Genz Benz were ruined by Fender - really hope G&L doesn't go the same way.
