yes mate defo factory. I'm wondering if this is actually Frank Allen's bass. My band mate bought it from Frank about 35 years ago but he passed away a long time ago, so there isn't anyone to ask It has dot markers for every fret, which is annoying because it makes finding 3,5,7,12 etc quite hard

Interesting idea - I'll have a think on how we could manage that. We have a sign-up sheet, of course, but that's not particularly clear to the people waiting.

A chalk board helps.. people can also see how long the queue us and where they are. Perhaps limit to two songs and promise a second shot if time?

So the guitarist is a bit of a virtuoso then, that D at the end is a brilliant twist.

The sound quality sounds pretty good, very hifi and the stability of the polyphonic tracking is impressive. The lack of an arp funciton is a shame though for me personally given what it's capable of otherwise. The do an arp pedal called the Tararira which was what I was confusing with this pedal.

Last night at the Chequers in Chipping Norton was rather busy. So were the two sessions before that. We're attracting a variety of players and also audience and it's getting to the point where it's hard to fit everyone and we're over-running or missing people out, or both. Not sure how to fix that. There was some good stuff played, though. Strangely, no drummers turn up; our chap has to play all night, but we usually get at least one other bassist and we had three guitarists last night. This is a jazz jam with a website which reminds people to bring charts for the band if they want to call something not in iReal, real books etc. But: Guitarist: <calls unfamiliar tune> Bassist: How does that go? G: It's in G. B: What sort of progression? G: It's a blues. B: Is it a standard 12-bar? G: No. B: What is it, then? G: It goes something like G G G G G G G D, I think. B: Do you have a chart? G: No. etc. etc.

That I think it going to be the downfall of this when owner reviews emerge, I long ago ditched attractive open front/back retro tolex head cases due to the number of times I or one of my bandmates broke controls when moving the gear around. I get that the manufacturers seem to think that this is more of an installation unit - theatre pits, rehearsal rooms, and studios - but they're all situations in which, while the unit might not be in and out of a van or car boot every day, space is still at a premium, and instruments, mic/drum stands, and various other solid objects are often being moved around with less care than should be the case (my DB's current impromptu extra soundhole is testament to the effects of a poorly placed mic stand and a clumsy musician). I've not found any evidence of the manufacturer asking bassists themselves what they need from a small form factor combo in the was Mesa/ @agedhorse have been doing recently. Perhaps they'll need to do some after the fact market research re cases etc?

The thing with so many unique basses I suspect is that it's the uniqueness that draws us. Yes, it was very very nice bass, beautifully designed and engineered, and with some lovely tonal options. But for me, doing relatively bog standard gigs in bog standard venues, pretty any precision with a decent PUP, a stable neck, and adequate bridge and tuners, does the job. I've loved playing and owning many unique basses, but i wanted them way more than I needed them, something that at last I appear to have worked out of my system

Fun slightly retro worship set last night. The songs were a variety of blasts from the past, all of which I was familiar with. Was surprised how many of the team hadn’t heard the Hillsong ones which I would have thought of as “worship standards”! At Start: This I Believe (the Creed) (F) So Will I (D) Response song: Speak oh Lord (B) Communion: God I Look to You (D) This Kingdom - Hillsong (C) At End: Mighty to Save (G) Never Gonna Stop Singing (F) However, our WL/pianist who chose them was ill over the weekend so we had to draft in one of our other keys players and one of the other singers had to lead the songs - many of which she hadn’t sung before. That said, it all worked out well and sounded good (apart from me having a bit of a brain fade on the first tune and the piano player not quite playing all the tunes as written). Proud of the team as they adapted well. We have a cracking drummer so Never Gonna Stop was a lot of fun to play!!!

Oooh how did you manage to get to preview it a year or so back, given they haven't released the Quimera yet?!
