  2. Bass hopes for this year: 1. Increase the rate at which I pick music to learn - it's easy to have a set of tracks in rotation and keep going through familiar material expecting it to get better 2. Try to nail down why when I attempt slap all that comes out are harmonics and other strings ringing 3. Do more sight reading, get back to reading music other than my own transcriptions 4. Always know what note is under my finger across the fretboard rather than relying on ear and relative intervals/spatial relationships. 5. Practice always with a metronome 😄 6. Possibly take a few lessons to get some outside perspective on what to focus on
  3. I Need a Doctor - Dr. Dre and Eminem
  4. What year is the Jazz? The series it`s part of can make a fair bit of difference. If the Jazzes follow Precisions in similarity: 2008-12 - very scooped 2013 - 16 - warm, rich bottom end, a tad scooped, and sound very much like Toneriders
  5. Sounds good! Be great if you can make that happen this year! What genres of music are you into and what's the live music scene and opportunities for getting involved in that in Chelmsford?
  6. Probably either May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way by Omnium Gatherum or An Insatiable Violence by Cryptopsy (listener discretion advised on that one). But after a very strong end to 2024 for my specific favourite artists it's been a pretty quiet year for new releases.
  7. Not really - but might depend on what you're offering? One thing that springs to mind, is an EHX Mel9 pedal.
  8. I was the one talking to you on eBay! Shame the head sold without the cab, I'd have taken both quite happily when coming to Cardiff this month.
  9. Gosh, I didn't know Zoe was married. Is he building a loudspeaker as well as me? I'll ask him for advice and see if he can help. She knows I'm building it, but rarely goes down in the cellar. We have a biomass boiler and the hopper has just been filled so even less likely to go down to check on pellets. Just down the last (hopefully) top coat using a cut down textured roller. It looks quite nice, but patchy when wet. I've cut the textured roller down to 2" from 4" to allow it to get between the various sacrificial parts. The Armacab dries very quickly so should be ready to look at this evening. I've learnt a lot about building a cabinet. Lots of things not to do when I build the second one. Rob
  10. Me too, I got a belt after being impressed with the strap quality. It’s way better than any leather belt I’ve ever bought from a shop

  12. I'm not surprised to see in this thread that it sounds great at the time to play whilst stoned, but that the recordings tell a different story... Personally, I would rarely even have alcohol when performing, and certainly nothing else whatsoever, as full concentration is required. When I was an undergraduate there was plenty of stoned playing around, though. I recall a popular singer who claimed he could never remember the lyrics unless he'd had "a couple of pints and a bucket," which is presumably the condition in which he spent most of his time. A local rehearsal studio was run by a chap who dealt pot as a sideline so there were usually jazz woodbines being passed around.
  13. This is the MXR Bass preamp. Super clean sound that allows you to the deliver a crystal clear DI (via XLR) as well as the standard TRS output. It doesn't have a baked in sound like may preamps but does have a really nice EQ with a sweepable mid control but it wont massively alter your tone. I used this with my HX Stomp to avoid the reported issues with XLR and Phantom power (The MXR can be powered by Phantom power I believe). The XLR can be set pre EQ which is great as it allowed me to tweak the EQ from my board without impacting the DI signal. There are a few chips in the paint but otherwise its in perfect working order, any questions let me know.

  14. I'm selling this fantastic little compressor which offers by far the most functionality you will get in such a small package. Has controls for ratio, threshold, and makeup gain as well as hard / soft knee setting, fast and slow timing and a mix to dial in some of your clean signal. Lastly it has LED meeting to help you set the right amount of compression which I found really useful. This is a high quality compressor and I'm only selling as I have replaced my HX Stomp (I never liked the comps on that) with a DG Anagram. The compressors on the Anagram were updated a while ago but I have kept it until I was totally happy with them. This is one of the best pedals I have ever owned but its just sitting in the drawer so passing it on. I don't have the box but the pedal is in mint condition with on the bottom and will be well packaged for postage. I recommend watching a few reviews and checking out the Becos website and of course if you have any questions just drop me a note.

  15. I know what you mean but my circumstances have very recently changed. If things change again I will probably keep it!
  16. In our household have poor precedent for names ... but like @WinterMute suggests that TS Elliott would argue that a cat would never tell. Our first cat was called Catbert ... after the Dilbert comics " evil director of human resources " We now Have , Sebastian and Ryan ... who are ginger brothers ... and Misha who is a Huge white Siberian forest cat ... ( "Misha russian for little bear) Do you want to go with a music related name ... maybe " capo" ... because its always in the way when you dont need it but never around when you do 😉
