  2. After a lot of stroking of the chin, I decided to try and test the tweeters using: A 9V battery A small amplifier Battery test I disconnected the tweeter input legs from the chock blocs and put a 9V across them. I could hear a distinct click as I put power on them. Nothing more. I am assuming that indicates they are probably working. Small amplifier I <ahem> borrowed my daughters little amp, looks like this. Then realised I had nothing that that had a phone input to drive the amplifier. So I 'borrowed' my youngest daughters rather elderly iPad which actually has a headphone socket on it. My iPhone and iPad doesn't have a headphone out. Connected a set of speaker wires to one side, plugged the iPad in and then realised my youngest is a massive Taylor Swift fan and that was all she had. <sigh> I disconnected the Eminence speaker and connected the wires so it went to all of the four tweeter array. I could hear Taylor Swift. However the music sounded very tinny, quite poor quality and very quiet. That is not a passive-aggressive comment on Taylor Swift. I'm not sure what it should sound like through four tweeters. I would have thought better than this though. I then connected the Eminence speaker up and tried again and it sounded fine. So I'm still unsure if I have a tweeter problem or not. Just the tweeters sounded rubbish to me. I have no idea if the tweeters would sound reasonable, it sounded like a 1950's 1" speaker in a crap transistor radio. Any comments welcomed. Thanks Rob
  3. I hate these control plates without soldered ground wires. Cheapo. If any of the screws in that plate is loose, anything can happen.
  4. hello Shan apologies, i've only just found your question from last September i was having radiotherapy treatment then and somehow missed your post i don't have experience of the 6 string Sinsonido acoustic travel guitar but i believe it uses the same electret bridge pickups and very similar electronics, so these Bass preamp circuits should work with minor changes (e.g. Tone component values) hope this helps
  5. ^This entirely. Not many of those out there and they sound great.

  7. I don't have a digital caliper to measure it with such exact precision. But I imagine those specifications can be found on the Fodera website.
  8. Wow, I’ve been thinking about getting a 5/er Precision and they are few and fat between, and that is stunning 👍
  9. All I can say is I've not bought o of his instruments but they are lovely to see and play and he's a nice chap to discuss basses with!
  10. What style of DB are you looking for Mark @BloozeBoy, Jazzy/melodic blues, Rockabilly/slap, Country/bluegrass…? I’m interested but last band I auditioned for on DB saw it more a crowd pleasing stunt than an instrument which is absolutely fine but not really my thing 👍
  11. I'm not a Fender guy, but if I was, this would be the bass I'd go for. Looks great!
  12. Looks treeeemendous.
  13. He installed a full set of MM Bongo electrics into my MM USA Sub 5. I am now flogging that bass, so not happily ever after. But this is no reflection on Mr Manton's work (which was exemplary). It is just a reflection on the fact that I have way too many basses.
  14. Today
  15. Good luck in your search guys. Sounds fabulous to me.
  16. Someone was after one but I think in natural but thanks.

  19. Just thought I'd give this chap's video guide a plug, it's really comprehensive and pretty foolproof. Goes over everything you need to know to tackle the truss rod, levelling, crowning and dressing etc in an in depth but approachable manner. He also shows you how to make your own cheap tools to tackle it if you don't want to spends loads doing it. You need to subscribe to access it but I've had no spam or indeed any emails at all hassling me since I subscribed. I'm not affiliated in any way to him but he has such an amiable laid back but infectious manner and obviously wants to share his skills I thought I'd let others know about him! https://stringing-it-together.mykajabi.com/

  22. @hiram.k.hackenbacker was looking for one I think?
  23. Hey there, very interested in the bass, would you take £1,500? I'm in ROI, could collect at the weekend.
  24. Hi everyone I’ve just taken some readings and it came out as 3.48 when volume was fully up and then 0.00 when down. Strangely the bass is working now, is it just a case of putting on some contact cleaner? It was working again briefly a couple of months ago before it stopped working again. all the best, Harry
  25. EBMM Musicman StingRay Special 2019 USA Lovely example in black and roasted maple. It has a black chrome control plate and knobs. Not sure if this is as original but this is what it came with when I bought it. It comes with EBMM case, tools, leaflets, inspection tags, etc. It plays beautifully and sounds as you would expect, classic StingRay punch and clarity with lots of tonal variations thanks to the three band EQ. As it is the Special model the hardware is updated and designed to reduce weight. The bass is nice and light at 3.9kgs. The lightest US StingRay I’ve played. I love this bass but quickly realised that the wider body is uncomfortable for me to play and so I’m looking to trade it for an EBMM Sterling (US version) preferably with a maple board or a reissued Sabre. No heavy weights please. I’m not interested in any other trades but would also welcome a straight sale. Great chance to buy a lightweight US made StingRay. UK only. Pickup preferred or I can post at buyer’s cost. Thanks.
  26. We have a Liverpool fan... that can be stressful, less so since we've persuaded him having a Liverpool FC banner at gigs is not always a great idea (it was ok at the Liverpool fan club gig though...)
