He needs to get it fixed, that isn't normal, sounds like it isn't turning off, so needs to replace the jack

Why were older basslines so much more interesting?

People, we have rose tinted glasses and remember the best and conveniently forget the dross. On this day 50 years ago, this was the charts in the UK: 1 - I CAN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING (BUT MY LOVE) THE STYLISTICS 2 - SAILING ROD STEWART 3 - THE LAST FAREWELL ROGER WHITTAKER 4 - BARBADOS TYPICALLY TROPICAL 5 - IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW HOW TO LOVE ME SMOKIE 7 - BLANKET ON THE GROUND BILLIE JO SPEARS 8 - THAT'S THE WAY (I LIKE IT) KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND 9 -JIVE TALKIN' THE BEE GEES 10 - DOLLY MY LOVE MOMENTS 11 - GIVE A LITTLE LOVE BAY CITY ROLLERS Not a bad number one, very seventies, and the Bee Gee's and KC And The Sunsine Band's tunes are great but the rest is not great... -

A mighty talent. Actually born in West Bromwich and didn’t move to Ireland until he was eight.

Phil is much missed, an amazing songwriter and a terrific singer and bassist, I often wonder about what music he would have put out if he hadn't passed away, Thin Lizzy what a band !! John 😎

Did you have ‘The Manson Explorer’ that was on their advertising at the time? The stripy one? There are (or used to be!) pictures of it on the Manson history page of their website. I have a Kestrel that’s a ‘twin’ woods wise.

Might be worth a call/message to Dave Green at Ashdown, see if he can recommend something. -

Fender Precisions for me. In my first probably 20 years of playing bass I was always chasing a sound that I couldn`t get, pretty much all of my fave players played Precisions - dur, should have been a clue but there was me trying to get their sounds from different types of bass. Anyway, finally got one and there was what I`d been looking for all that time. I play other basses, for weight reasons, but it will always be the Precision for me.

If that's Mark, the dishes will be brilliant. He had the exceptional taste to call my playing 'great' when he was at a gig of mine. Won't hear a word said against him. 🙂 -

UPDATED: Price dropped to £220 This is a fantastic little practice amp that I'm only selling as I'm now using my son's amp in the rehearsal room instead so it's surplus to requirements. In good condition bar the paint on the bottom front corners that has come off at some point. It's mostly been sat on my desk bar a couple of occasions taking to friends house and is from a smoke free home if that matters to you. Selling with 'Poweradd Pilot pro 2' external power pack that fits under the handle for portability - if you don't want this then the amp will be £200. Welcome to try if seriously interested, message me and we can arrange. Payment preferred by bank transfer but will accept cash. All documents included but no box unfortunately so I won't be posting.

Can't be too much help, but it's a cool looking thing! Most likely a Korean made bass made for a number of brands. A quick Google image search brought up Wood doing a bass very similar. Googling Mazeti brings up a whole bunch of those 5 and 6 string basses that brands like Shine etc do. By no means a bad thing to come from one of those types of factories! Enjoy.

sounds good I think

The Mk.2 is £250 the last time it was in stock. If you ever find yourself near Derby, you're more than welcome to come give this one a whirl. Shep

The review says it all: comprehensive, US published and hard to find. Price is UK posted, unread condition. Now £16. Times And Seasons - The Rise and Fall and Rise of the Zombies Robin Platts HoZac Books, $31.99 356 pages Classic British pop, expertly chronicled Few books on the Zombies exist, but theirs is a story worth telling. And it's predictable that, given their Stateside star status, this quintessentially English quintet of She's Not There and Tell He No fame should be chronicled on an American imprint. The band only hung up its touring shoes last year after leader/keyboardist Rod Argent's stroke, but the work he and singer Colin Blunstone created after their reunion in 2001 - the years since 1968 being silent, in a Zombies sense - are also covered in detail by author Platts. The band always had a youthful camaraderie, having come together at high school, and that comes over faithfully in this account of their heyday - plus a long tail that details their subsequent musical careers. While Blunstone went solo and Argent created an eponymous prog band (of God Gave Rock And Roll To You fame), guitarist Paul Atkinson went behind the scenes and signed Abba to CBS - a feather in anyone's cap. Detail is forensic without being stifling. If the layout is a trifle fanzine-y, the integration of illustrative material like press cuttings and photos with the text helps make this an easy read. And the urge to play the music, always the sign of a good book, is irresistible.

I’m not really a big overdrive person, but I still like some saturation, so I’m always looking at different low gain OD’s and various saturators/magic “toan” pedals 😁 I’m going to look out for one of these - how much do they/the mk2 cost at Horrothia, there’s a couple on eBay from Japan but that pricing isn’t necessarily a guide - I’m guessing £200-250ish judging by other pedals they sell?

They came out with a Mk.2, that replaced the 2-position switch with a knob (so offering more range) and the Mk.2 can run on battery. This Mk.1 version is officially discontinued. However, I understand that the Mk.2 is out of production at the moment pending a restock on a number of components. Not discontinued though, so I'd expect another run in the future. This one, serial 000, was Tom at Horrothia's personal one, which he was kind enough to let go as I was very persistent in wanting one I've been using this daily since it arrived and it's easily the nicest low-gain drive I've ever used (and I've used a lot!).
