Can someone recommend me a strap.....

I'm getting uncomfortable at gigs recently with my new bass. It's slightly neck heavy, and the bass itself is quite heavy, so I end up leaning a bit to compensate and get back ache. I could do with a nice wide one that can keep me comfortable, as well as reducing the neck dive. Price- anything up to £40 really, if it's a good 'un. Prefer a dark brown/tan or black colour leather really. No silly colours or patterns!

Cheers guys

The Comfort Strapps are really really good.

Had them for years, they grip really well and spread the weight of the heaviest bass. Super adjustable, I'm changing the length of mine a couple of times a gig. Super easy if that's a requirement.

Can be had in various lengths.

Another vote for Comfort Strapp-I've used them for a while.

It's a shame you don't want colours or patterns-these Marvel Comic straps are
supremely cool......

Levy's stuff is good, I have an old M4 plain leather one that prevents my "granitewood" TSB from gypping my shoulder.

Also good are the range from Leathergraft. I've got several of their XL straps. Wide, comfy, strong & reasonably priced.

That seems a lot for a strap IMO.

These "Aircell" straps look interesting though, if you're into padding.

Thanks for that! Looks very cool - not long enough though, sadly... :)

This looks a bit more like it... wider, and much cheaper:

Or maybe just get a Comfort Strapp... seems popular! :)

EDIT: Oop. Sorry cameltoe -- your thread!!

I just posted a recommendation for this guy from the 'bay http://shop.ebay.co.uk/crooky2/m.html?_nkw...p;_trksid=p4340

His name is Ted and he'll make you a bespoke strap exactly how you want it. Really nice leather.

Me brother has one of them and its lush!
He does use it with a thinline tele however which strikes me as somewhat pointless!

Cheers, I went for a minotaur!

Good old plain black. But racking up 11cm wide is pretty impressive, and £35 all in isn't that bad. As much as the comfort strapps were recommended, and I was tempted to go for substance over style, I just couldn't escape from the fact that they look a bit cack! Sorry to all comfort strapp owners, I'll eat my words when my minotaur strap eats it's way into my shoulder flesh during the first set.......

I really love these straps DSL

They've got loads of lovely looking padded straps, but only up to 2.5" wide. Doh!

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Same here! It's uncanny... I went for the padded Brown/Black 11cm X 145cm 'vintage' one:

Forty quid including registered delivery and insurance.

Thanks! Like Musicman20 says, they make amazing gig bags (and straps). I'm GAS-ing for the M80:

I didnt know they existed until I looked for a proper lightweight but strong case, (one of the new hybrid types). All I can say is the gig bag/case is incredibly well made and very high attention to detail. Super useful, and light/strong. Expensive, but worth it.

UPDATE: Arrived this morning and is easily the most comfortable strap I've worn. And I've worn a few.
Makes my 76 Precision seem much lighter. Can't recommend it highly enough:

I might go for one of these Minotaur straps. Plain black with padding:

http://minotaur.gr/catalog/product_info.ph...;products_id=52

Well, its their deluxe one so Im expecting it to be awesome.

How short and long will they get?

Lastly, daft as it sounds, has anyone found the leather 'rubs' onto their light coloured instruments? A lot of mine are white.
