1. Take a look at Transcribe (seventhstring.com) - drag and drop from iTunes, change key, tempo etc. I have found it useful. I think there is a free version too.
  2. What no bass chat folk attending? Just me then.

  4.
Richard Bona with Pat Metheny live. It's not just his soloing, his accompaniment to Metheny's playing is an amazing piece of fretless work. http://www.notreble....h-richard-bona/
I was lucky enough to see them live - great gig. Richard also did some great vocal stuff too, but the man who stole the show was the drummer - Antonio Sanchez.

  6.
Possibly 'Something' by The Beatles - not because its hard to play, buts because its hard to sing and play that bassline!
I agree. It's even harder to play and sing the harmony line! Great bass line though.

Looks like I might have to miss this one - (damn!). And it's such a great venue.

  13.
I find it really easy to learn stuff like harmonies. Mind you I think i'm more of an "ear learner" as it is so that's probably something to do with it.
Ditto - I have always been able to easily hear the harmony - and make one up if there isn't one!
  14.
Why does it take half an hour or so to learn a bassline and three weeks (or more) to learn the harmony? It's like the harmony has to be engraved onto my brain so that I can switch it on at the right time.
For me it's the other way around! Sue
  15.
Slightly different, but how do you hear what you're singing ? We've tried stage monitors, but were thinking of in-ear things ?
Ah, there's the rub! I use a monitor with a mix of vocals in it (me and the other 3 who also sing!) and a teeny bit of bass. I haven't tried in-ear monitors, and would be interested to hear from anyone who has. Sue
  16.
That'll be front men AND Women of course!
I do mostly backing vocal, but a lot of harmony - on the more tricky stuff I need to get the bass part nailed so I only have to concentrate on singing.
  17. Thanks for the response - I have also looked at the Voicetone range, and they are a better price, but I wasn't sure I wanted to be grovelling around on the floor to adjust settings, the mic stand option seemed a little more 'elegant'. Sue
  18. http://www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicelive-touch/ I am looking to have more flexibility on the vocal effects on my voice in a live performance. Does anyone have any helpful feedback on this kind of thing? Thanks Sue
  19. So, did we ever get to the bottom of Pete's original question?

  22.
Hola my good people, I have did a search on the PJB gear and the info is a tad old and a bit inconclusive. So now its been on the market for a while and hopefully had a wider road test by the forum, I was wondering what folk think. So if you dont know me, I play rock/blues in a crackin 3 piece. We play loud and dirty (in small to medium gigs). Im in the market for lightweight and portable rig and I may be moving my stingray on for the suitcase and ext cab. So before I go for a road test I was hoping for some insight. Cheers Steven
Perhaps there are not many PJB users on BC hence the lack of response, but if it's any help, I use a PJB super flightcase and love it. It's portable, quality kit, and incredibly powerful. You need to play around to find your 'sound' and just accept you can get great bass out of those little speakers! Bass Direct would be a good place to start for info. Hope this helps a bit. Sue
  23.
Do you know, I had a feeling that was you when you turned up at the pub! I was the tw@t in the hat, with my good lady Diane with the short red hair. Sorry we didn't have a chance to say hello. Hello Sue
A belated hello to you too! (Cool hat!) A great review of the gig, by the way.
  24.
We were approached by a film company, who offered us a deal. They filmed the gig at the Stables last October. To cut a very long story short, they don't seem to be experienced in live music filming, so the footage is in limbo at present. The audio came out really well, so we did a CD instead. I can fully understand people not wanting to buy a recording of another band's material, but if anyone's interested, please contact me.
Great gig last night at the Jazz Cafe Pete (as ever). You really are an awesome bass player. With regard to the CD, I played it on the way home (all of it - it was a long journey), and the sound quality is superb. It's a must purchase for anyone who has seen you live, or anyone who wants to hear the best homage to Steely Dan you will ever get. Sue
  25. I saw him live numerous times with the Alan Parson's Live Project. He was a cool guy.
