I think the seller (Norm, probably) knows he doesn't really have to bust a gut to prove it's legit. I assume fender have in recent years simply resurrected what was in fact a very old logo for the newer ones? I tend to associate 'vintage' with the 70's ones that have the block capitals Fender logo.
