Does Thomann regularly make mistakes these days?

Each of my last two orders from Thomann has had a mistake in what I received. Nothing serious, in each order there was a main 'big' item, and then a shopping list of a few smaller bits & bobs. in the first shipment I received a set of 010 electric guitar strings instead of the equivalent 010 acoustic strings I had ordered, and in the shipment I received today they missed out one of the two schaller switch tips I ordered.

 

They put the first order's issue right by sending out the correct strings and I'm sure I'll get the missing switch tip in a week or so now I've sent an email.

 

Have I just been unlucky or do they often make this kind of mistake these days?

They once sent me a euro power lead instead of a uk one. They sorted it.

Oh yes, I also had that — I originally received a euro cable with my powered HB spaceship pedalboard a few years ago. They sorted it out for me as well.

With orders coming in thick and fast and companies bending (their employees) over backwards to deliver your order the very same day or sooner, it's bound to happen. The thing is how they deal with it. They once sent me my order of 4-5 small to medium sized items, and everything was there, except there was also a 4 pack of Vic Firth drumsticks. Maybe one of the staff was just feeling generous. [insert Oprah Winfrey meme "and YOU get drumsticks, and YOU get drumsticks!.."]

Statistics are squirrelly little bastards with lots of squirrelly bastard friends.

 

Your data is the last two orders from Thomman got messed up. Now you will get more data on the messed up orders.

 

This is no way to assess the true proportion of messed up orders.

 

A better question would be, how well was your last Thomman order completed? You still get confirmation bias but at least you aren't tee'ing it up.
