The 1st gen Shure glx can be found for £200 these days (i got mine for this b.i.n on eBay a couple of years ago) Really can't go wrong with that!

Ive just had this happen to me recently. Got the Ampeg SGT-DI and although my WS90’s work fine most of the time, when the preamp is disengaged and the IR is on, my WS90 picks up all sorts of noise. Really loudly. Even when off.  Cable and 2.4ghz Xvive’s are fine. 

Even with my EBS Microbass 3, just having the WS90 plugged in and putting my had close give a sound simply to when a cable is unplugged. When it’s on it s fine. 

Might be a faulty receiver. Again, no issues with the Xvive.

Boss maybe missed a trick there by not having a footswitch on the charging unit to toggle between charging modes.

 

I just happen to have one of these in the classified at the moment for the knock down price of £100 posted.

I have since found that if I connect a guitar cable between my wireless receiver and the input of my mod dwarf (or boss ME90), it then becomes completely noise free. So it just seems to need the full filter network of a guitar cable to remove the noise!

Sounds more like a problem with insufficient RF shielding somewhere in the signal chain.

I’ve been using my Boss WL-20 setup for the last year with few issues. I haven’t noticed any loss of low end - I think that may be an ‘Internet wisdom’ hangover from early systems.

 

Used live I’ve only had problems on two occasions:

(1) Electronic drum kit and bodies between transmitter and receiver in a pub with very little ‘stage’ space. Used a cable instead.

(2) Theatre gig. Fine during soundcheck, in fact I walked halfway up the banked seats in the auditorium to check out the FOH sound. But once the audience were in I kept losing the blue ‘RF found’ LED on the receiver. The signal itself didn’t drop out but I wasn’t going to risk it so in a break between songs I swapped to a 6m cable to preserve stage-strutting privileges as far as possible. I put it down to too many WiFi hotspots in the audience.

Both the Dwarf and the ME-90B seem to do the same, and it is hard to shield the RF on the receiver.

Seems to be reports of issues on some active basses. Not sure about systems with TRS plugs.

I'm using the Lekato WS-90 and I really like it.

5.8g, no (noticable (to me anyway)) latency, £35 brand new from ebay, decent battery life, no dropouts or interference (yet, touch wood), so simple even a Bass player can operate it (lliterally plug and play)... fantastic bit of kit.

EDIT: Works fine with active Basses

They are a bit ugly and stick-outy, but so am I and I do alright.

After a year with mine im still getting the on/off buttons wrong. I just can't seem to get used to them and always seem to either press the Connect button or try and slide the correct one the wrong way (and I know you slide towards the jack).

The WS-70 only has one button, so even an idiot like me can operate it.  It's pretty much bassplayerproof!
