admiralchew Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Yesterday was an exciting one: a pedal I've been waiting for for a couple of years arrived. The backstory is a bit convoluted but I ended up with a 3 Leaf Audio Chromatron that was a little battered and losing its graphics. I reached out to Zac Sweeney at Malaise Forever and asked if he would be willing to finish it however he liked because I love his designs. That was in May 2023. A lot has happened with Malaise Forever shutting down and then reopening in a different form; there were times I wasn't sure I would see the pedal again so it made opening the box yesterday very sweet. I've posted some photos of the finished article below (and, as a bonus, I now have a box for the pedal!). 11 Quote
admiralchew Posted July 21 Posted July 21 It's been a big week or so for pedals here. Damnation Audio's Big to be more precise. Made in conjunction with Pet Symmetry, it's modelled after the Sanford & Sonny Bluebeard (a brilliant fuzz) and a boost pedal. Like everything of Damnation Audio's I've tried (MBD2, MBD3, Dirtfixer, Spite Box) it works rather well and actually makes me excited to play with a pick. Big-foot-esque blurry photo below. 5 Quote

(His being Horrothia's, though Pantherairsoft you've probably got some nice ones too!) I've been on a quest for a chorus for some time. I moved from stand lone to a multi for modulation, but regretted it. I've been through a lot of chorus pedal over the years and just had an urge to try something different - something that doesnt go with my usual needs. This video convinced me: I've been playing with it for a few hours and it's insanely musical. On both bass and synth (I have a Moog Sub 25) it's honestly stunning. 2 Quote

I'd used an Anadime before at a bass bash and thought it was very pretty sounding. I tend to use chorus more for that tool-like swirling vibe than the classic 80's use (with bass at least) and this seems to nail it perfectly. It seemingly adds a layer that just makes everything sound awesome. Excited to experiment with it over the next week or so. Edited Sunday at 16:58 by pantherairsoft Quote
PaulThePlug Posted Tuesday at 20:56 Posted Tuesday at 20:56 (edited) Likes a Phaser, started back in the 80's with an Amdek Boss-a-like Kit Likes a Joyo, have the 3 Knob Ironman Nebulous Phaser, (and the Rowin Nano) But this takes a battery... and was cheap! Not a fan of the Vintage Phase decal so scraped it off. Nice Single Knob Phaser, prefer Slow and Shallow these are not that overbearing on the depth. Edited Tuesday at 21:01 by PaulThePlug 1 Quote
bassbora Posted Wednesday at 13:15 Posted Wednesday at 13:15 Just got this today and already gave it a spin. Sounds great and is different enough from my Octbvre and T47. The sound options are great and a lot to explore and as Taylor suggests to pair it with a filter (preferrably Xerograph) and that is so true. I have read a lot about these and early ones had a bleed from the synth voices but this one is really quiet. Really looking forward to see what I can do with it. 4 Quote

HoorayForAnonyms Posted Wednesday at 15:24 Posted Wednesday at 15:24 After several months of waiting, the Iron Ether Subterranea has finally arrived. Described by Taylor at Iron Ether as a, ‘multi-timbral analog synthesizer and octave pedal’ it acts as an oscillator section for a great analogue synth setup when paired with an envelope filter. These were discontinued a few years ago but recently brought back for a limited production run. Hopefully they’ll be added back to the regular production line. It’s a great analogue synth pedal. https://on.soundcloud.com/CpmKMabzrIOQzEnS99 https://on.soundcloud.com/U5G8C0THhHiAINPoEz https://on.soundcloud.com/HmamFI3dmsihHflhpM https://on.soundcloud.com/aEdvwY6QUt0qnNTR8M 5 Quote

The arcade switch for on-off is a nice touch (feels super solid, doesn’t worry me that it’s not a metal switch), and they are gorgeous. I own two pedals from him and both are top notch. I’m really interested by his fuzz pedal, but I’m also super happy with my fuzz options. I mean, I guess I was happy with my low gain options, but I really have no desire to change fuzz. For now 1 Quote
