I used to own a 62RI CIJ and we had a great time together but I think I’m after something a bit different: Wide-ish but shallow-ish satin finish neck Contoured heel Not too expensive £500-£750 s/h No upgrades required to sound great Doesnt have to be a Fender but should look like one Whats out there? A Precision is such a simple bass you could spec exactly what you want as far as neck, pickups, hardware, finish etc was concerned & have change. The only thing you might struggle with would be the contoured heel - I'd guess that's not a deal-breaker because as far as I know P players are not allowed up the Dusty End! 5 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I’ve had a few of them (!) and they are very nice. Satin necks, contoured heel, PJ pickups and active/passive at the flick of a switch. Should be in your price range too. Those MFD pickups are formidable. Re: The heel - I've an SB-2 Tribute, and can easily charge into the dusty end. The cutaways are slightly deeper than a P, so it's less of an issue.
