I have 19 basses, active and passive, 4 & 5 string, long and short scale, fretted and fretless, modern and traditional, d from every decade from the 60s to the 2020s. So I think I'm very open to different instruments. 

 

I've tried basses like the modern players. They look pretty, but I don't bond with them.

 

My friends who have had early 60s fenders since the 60s/70s still gig them and I do prefer them.

 

The two basses I find myself gigging most are the 1960 P reissue and the 1963 J reissue. Having played real ones, I'm pretty sure I would use them if I could.

It was a gentle comment on a forum, don’t worry, I’m not telling you what to do. In the wider world it’s all irrelevant really.
 

A lot of people fetishise these basses and then realise that the thought was somewhat different to the reality. That’s all I was pointing out. 
 

I guess with 19 basses if this really was the life changing holy grail you could sell them all, free up some cash and become a lone bass gunslinger!

Don’t think anyone is saying they’re holy grail. But they’re a flavour modern fenders don’t give or any repros.

Was a lefty and they didn't bother setting the intonation again.

 

Fake neck plate.

 

The upper side of the body will fall apart sooner than you might think, the lower side has a huge crack and the center joint is doubtful.

 

The back of the headstock has a strange crack.

 

F*ckef up electronic with wrong capacitor and one linear pot!?!

 

Not a refinish, but a paint removal with some lacquer put afterwards.

 

And the logo is weird.

 

Just what I noticed after a very quick look.

 

What a mess.

Looks like a good deal to me. The changes are minimal overall, and stripping to natural was pretty common back then. My 72 has been stripped and so was my 66, before being refinished back to sunburst.

 

If the changes included pickups, tuners, scratchplate or the like, I'd think differently.

It looks mostly genuine, but I'd agree with Hellzero in really not liking the look of all the cracks on the bass; all over the body, and that one on the headstock/neck too. It's probably not about to fall apart, but that body has had some mistreatment over the years. It is very cheap for a '64 but for that money I'd much rather get a late '60s CBS in good condition.

That’s been up for sale on quite a few different sites for a long time , I’ve seen it before, not one for me
