In a studio with a rack of 60's P's and laying it down like crazy..Minimal notes,, minimal movement but incredible feel and groove. Anyone remember? Least impressed with Scotts Bass Lessons...same ole pentatonic thing everytime. As I've always said if you can't play on the One, in four and make em dance then forget it. He's got a lot of good stuff to say, and I like his commitment to keep some of his lessons free always. Seems like a good guy and a huge bonus is that he's put a syllabus/lesson structure in place, so you can actually work through his stuff with a sense of purpose and plan. I don’t know who that is you are referring to but those sort of guys are amazing. You wouldn’t give them a second glance in the street or even at a gig until they start laying down a groove which makes your hair stand on end. SBL - I am so sick of channels like this where it’s all fancy noodling and precious little musicality. Especially when they test gear and it’s all crazy slap or noodly stuff at the top of the fretboard. I’ve recently found a good channel which isn’t massively popular but he plays all sorts of real nice music and is clearly accomplished at all sorts of genres - I will try to find a link. Professionally delivered proper old school bass lines which are soooo good to play....accurately written out and that P bass sounds so chewy and well... bassy. Then for playing and the occasional bits of tuition, Nicki Tedesco is really good and just for playing / bass covers, Skinny Bass is very good. I'm not really a fan of bass lessons too much, I find them quite demotivating (that's just me and my autism though!). Oh, and Andertons..... I watched a review of the Boss GT-1B. One of the testers started complaining about how it was sounding a bit too gain-y. He was running his active bass through the GT-1B's preamp sims with cab sims, then into a bass head (another preamp and power amp) and into a mic'ed up speaker. One of the testers started complaining about how it was sounding a bit too gain-y. He was running his active bass through the GT-1B's preamp sims with cab sims, then into a bass head (another preamp and power amp) and into a mic'ed up speaker. Yeah, that's going to sound a bit gain-y, ya big lump of gorgonzola. Haven't been able to take them seriously since. I like the Andertons "sound like xxx on a budget" with Cici & Dave Simpson.
