FS/FT Shuker Series 2 Headless GRAPHITE neck - SOLD!
£920
Hemel Hempstead

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

For sale or trade my Shuker Series 2 headless bass with Moses graphite neck (Steinberger replacement). I bought this from a fellow basschatter in September and then sent it to Jon to customize it. He installed an ebony ramp to my specs, replaced the EMG knobs with chrome ones and replaced the headpiece to suit single ball strings.

However a few months ago I bought my first ever Ibanez bass (GWB-1) and realized that this is the sort of neck profile I really want (narrow and very slim neck). This neck would also allow me to play 5 strings which is my genuine preference.

Actually the Moses neck is far from chunky and I've found it comfortable to play with my rather small hands.

Condition: 10/10, like new, perfectly set up by Jon + Brand new Elixir strings. The tuners are like butter.

Specs:

- Alder body (not 100% sure)

- Matt white finish with a shiny texture

- EMG MMTW pickup

- 3 way EMG preamp with parametric mids

- Nut: 39 mm / 24th fret: 57 mm

- 34” scale Moses graphite neck

- 16.5 mm string spacing

-  only 3.5 kg!

I'm not too keen on trades since I have 3 other basses.

Shipping is not included in the asking price.

That’s a beautiful modern headless - car woes and home improvement prevents me from exploring further. But good lord I like that.

Hi, Bassbandit. The ramp is approx. 3 mm from the strings, so it strongly affects plucking. It's also a little bit narrower than the pu as you may see it on the photo. This was my request as I use the ramp as a thumb rest when I pluck the E string and I like my thumb a bit closer to the string if it makes sense. It might need a bit of jiggery-pokery to make it suitable for someone's preferences but I beleive that Jon did an exceptional job making this ramp purely based on my explanation via e-mail. For my personal taste it would only need a 0.5 mm sanding under the G-string. Slappers might find the space between the neck and the ramp tight, but that's also an easy fix.

It is, indeed, an alder body.

Love the shiny knobs!

Thanks for confirming, Trev.

Do you have a pic without the ramp please?

No ramp, but no strings & shiny knobs either.

Hi,

Great Bass - what did you do to convert the head piece so the bass took single ball strings.

Thanks and good luck in the sale

Rob

I'm wondering if that is one of the necks I sold on here about 2015 or so...

Yes there are a couple left but I can't get to them until borders are back to normal.

      New Headless Birthday Bass Day!

Thanks to the sterling collaborative efforts of @Paul S and my lovely partner, I got this for me birfday! It's a Riverhead Unicorn RUB1090, from 1985-ish. I've wanted one of these since I tried one at the old Bass Centre in Wapping in 1985, and sadly found myself unequal to the £500 price tag!
They don't turn up too often & I've missed out on one or two, including this one when it first came up a few months ago. Happily Paul gave me first refusal - and a great excuse to get it at no personal expense! So everyone's a winner!
This is in nice condition for a 35-ish year old bass. A lot of these are pretty tatty, seemingly the factory finish wasn't too durable, but this has had a decent refin at some point, over the original matt black. The hardware's in near-new condition, which I'm surprised & very pleased about - many of these have corroded-looking metal parts. There's a little bit of fretwear, mostly under the E & A around the first 5 frets or so. A fret level/dress would help but I don't know if I'll bother - Paul's strung it with flats & the slight acoustic rattle doesn't seem to be audible when plugged in. Actually this is the first time I've had flats on a fretted bass in about 15 years & I'm surprised how well they work on this! Through my little Yamaha THR10 it sounds nice & full, with a bit of a Jazz growl to it. Pickups are passive single coils & fairly close to J positioning.
First impressions are that it's a bit nicer to play than my Hohner B2A or Cort Space headlesses - the chunky pickups provide a more natural feeling hand/thumb position and the narrow (39mm nut) but fairly deep neck makes it feel pretty substantial.
Very early impressions, I may try a bit of recording with it over the next few days. On the whole, I'm chuffed to bits!

I've been trying to find our more about my Hohner headless bass from the late 80's which  has a jack on the reverse and a strap with a rotating connector so that you can spin the guitar as in ZZ Top style ( but without the fur!).  Does anyone else have this? I can't find out anything about them.
Luckily it has a conventional jack because it's totally impractical

Not getting the playing time that it deserves, excellent bass that’s super comfortable to play with its 30.5” scale length, suits E-C but I have it set up with heavy gauge hex core boomers and played lovely in B-G as well,

The preamp is amazing, so versatile and great as a studio tool to get loads of tones, passive bypass gives a great natural tone as well.

      Here are the specs.
      body wood is Alder
top wood is Eucalyptus burl which is stunning
      neck is Wenge and Ash
Fingerboard is ACG’s signature acrylic impregnated Wenge for superior stability with luminescent inlays which glow on a dark stage.
      Weight is 8.01lbs
Bridge pickup is the Acg SB single coil and the neck is the Acg FB humbucker
preamp is the ACG DFM 5k/AP which is the full dual filter modular with push pull mid boost for both pickups, passive/active switch with tone roll off pot as well.
      Hipshot hardware.

there is 1 small blemish on the back behind the lower horn I’ll include a picture.

comes with the original semi Hard shell case.

I will ship at buyers risk, I would prefer collection or I’m happy to drive up to 100 miles to meet up.

It's with a heavy heart I'm selling my beautiful, custom ACG 6-String bass. Specific details of this instrument can be found on the ACG website (https://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0270salceetype6/)
I've owned this bass since new, having seen Alan's amazing work whilst attending the Moffat bass bash and knew I had to have one of his instruments. Unfortunately it's not getting played as much as it deserves so I feel it needs to find a new home.
      Body:
Top Wood: Figured Maple with Faded Black Finish.
Body Wood: Swamp Ash with Dirty Finish.
      Body Finish: Satin Lacquer
      Neck:
      Neck Wood: 5 piece Wenge/Bubinga
Finger Board: Acrylic Impregnated Spalted Maple
      Scale: 34″
      Neck Finish: Satin Lacquer
      Hardware:
      Pickups: ACG FB Humbuckers
Hardware: ETS Tuning/Bridge unit ACG Custom Headpiece  Schaller Straplocks,
      Pre-amp: ACG/East P-Retro with 4-way rotary pickup selector.
£1500, I will consider a part ex (up to £500 value) for the right bass, I do however need at least £1000 cash out of the sale. New, this bass would cost £2795. It's in fantastic condition and comes with a heavily padded Fusion gig bag. Collection from Newcastle upon Tyne, I'd really rather not post but will meet buyers a reasonable distance from Newcastle to facilitate a sale.
This ad is a relist of the original, I have recently moved house and needed to update my location.
