Kevin Dean
Has anyone A/B these ? I have the 12T but wondering if it's worth upgrading . cheers.
Dood
As far as I know, the 12T has a focussed punch in the lows but the Big Twin II goes much deeper. I suspect, (though have not tried them together to confirm,) that the top end in the Big Twin will seem clearer across the width of the room due to the tweeter wave guide as opposed to the more directional tweeter of the 12T. tubbybloke68
Hi there, I have both, and I find myself going back to the super12t most of the time , even theatre shows.if you're playing larger gigs with no pa support then it's possibly worth considering but for pub gigs only then no, the super 12t is all you need in my opinion.im in West Sussex so if you wanna a/b them both together then you are more than welcome. Kevin Dean
Thanks for those comments , I love the sound of the 12T but the problem I have is that playing in small pubs I'm standing right on top of the rig & find it really hard to hear any clarity & was wondering if the different tweeter would help , being 6ft4 doesn't help . Lozz196
Stick some castors on it to raise it a bit. I`m 6ft and use an S12T and have no trouble hearing the clarity, so castors will raise it about the same for you Kevin. That said, I do use a pretty gnarly/gainy/trebly eq. Could have something to do with it.
alexclaber
The dispersion of the Big Twin 2 is quite a lot better, both from the woofers and the tweeter, and it's quite a bit taller too.
Kevin Dean
I don't know why I'm faffing around I'm going to end up getting one aren't I .
Ghost_Bass
I raise my S12T from the floor about 60cm, it's enough to get the top driver and tweeter pointing to my ears, never heard anything else but definition and punch
Kevin Dean
Tonight I'm going to try my Super12T with my Ashdown ABM1000 , Before I do so I can't remember what the cab can take wattage wise ?
barkin
According the the website... --x--- RECOMMENDED AMP POWER 150-1200W RMS ---x---
Lozz196
With the S12T I think ears and windows in the venue will go before the speakers themselves.
Kevin Dean
Volume on the ABM1000 was just above "1" I don't understand all this amp stuff but this amp has so much more depth punch & quality than my Mark Bass amps ever had . regardless of volume . Lozz196
Yeah the bigger amps with a "something or other that I can`t remember the name of" transformer seem to have so much more depth to the sound. My SVT3-PRO was like that. Unfortunately I can`t lift those amps, fortunately both my band mates and I agreed that my Tonehammer suits the sound of the band better anyway - should add that the Tonehammers are probably the heftiest of the smaller Class D amps I`ve used. Kevin Dean
I mainly play using a plectrum & I like the Piano like tone produced by my Shuker 36" , Do you think the Big Twin ii would be able to achieve this ?

stevie
I've always thought that amps with a toroidal transformer produce a more rounded sound.

51m0n
If you play a five string then the Big Twin 2 is the absolute bomb, its not tuned loud in the lows, it just goes waaaay deeper without any eq at all than the S12T. My Roscoe's Low B sounds incredible through my BT2 Edited December 18, 2015 by 51m0n
