Song about cars and girls..isn't that Prefab Sprout?
That song is a dreadful insult to the hugely popular 'Boss' Bruce Springsteen and his army of fans............... WINNER !!!! Get it in the set at once !

Even I know the start of Phantom of the Opera, karlfer. You'll be playing 'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac next

I remember playing 'Peaches' at a jazz rehearsal once before realising that no-one else in the room had actually been BORN when the Stranglers had originally released it!!

Ref: the 16 year old singer. No-one that young should be allowed to make decisions about repertoire. No-one.

Mmmmm, The Chain you say <_<

I always thought of it as "Dum Dub-a-Dum Dub-a-Dum Dub-a-Dum bongggg"

Nah, that's just plain wrong - except for the 'bongggg'. :D

For heaven's sake, it is "Dum Dub-a-Dum Dub-a-Dub-a-Dum Bongggg"

look at all this confusion

ime this is because it was most likely played on a P with a pick

now if it had been fingers on a J .....

anyways, here is a video clip from last year of our young chanteuse who will be performing said song about the lady and the motorised conveyance

http://youtu.be/IMyerGq1Jjk

hopefully we will be debuting the car/girl/song on 1st may so i may be able to add a post to the 'show us you playing thread' :D
I've been playing Mustang Sally...ish and (a bit of)the Chain in our set for years and I've yet to hear a good reason why I shouldn't. All I do hear is folks thanking me for doing it and moaning when we drop it. What matters is how you play it - in my case I find it entertains the Williams and entertains me best by playing it like it stole my wallet. Do I copy ( the wonderful) McVie's line ? Not really. He wouldn't copy mine. I usually end up in the audience for Mustang Sally to make room for more inadequately clad young ladies of the opposite sex to get on stage and sing the backing vocals. 'Blue Jobs' we call them. Only a matter of mathematics that one or two of them will have a daddy complex !
