transition era 'rays in that condition are few & far between.

indeed you did pay over the odds in the current market, specailly with that guy in the other forum almost buying one for £475 or sumit at local guitar shop, but hopefully when it rises again (soon fingers crossed) it will be a good purchase indeed, lovely bass

you can't beat the look if that birdseye maple neck - stunning. Don't worry about how much you paid for it, the quality of the bass will make up for it and seen as value is only what someone is willing to pay then you obviously feel that £800 is reasonable...so I wouldn't worry about it.

Still £300 cheaper than retail and in mint condition. Beautiful neck...much better quality than the new one I sold last year.

If I was looking for another 3eq Stingray I`d hang out for one like yours and pay the odds!!

I think £800 is a fair price. People seem to think that all Rays 2nd hand should cost about £600, but the earlier ones (late 80's-late 90s) had such fantastic birdseye maple necks which I feel should warrant a higher price. Also any with a trans bridge and before (pre-97) look more like an original Ray and I feel are more sought after.

+1 to all of the above!

definitely worth over the odds - I have played one similar to this, it was the best damn ray I've ever played! The birdsey maple neck with that finish is truly gorgeous and plays so well!

well done.

Unfortunately this fell through as it was my bass that was for sale - buyer was looking for something 100% original and unfortunately this bass had to have a refinish when I bought it as the Blueburst paint job had somehow "gone off" and was left clammy and soft.

Back up on ebay now, I'd happily sell to someone here outside of Ebay but the general "trend" here lately is that Stingrays are worth £600 tops which I don't feel reflects the stunning quality of this bass :)

Welcome to PM me if interested though

I thought it seemed pretty clear Andy :)

I put my bass on Ebay, Mick bought it - hadnt realised it was a refinish at the time of bidding, so we mutually agreed to call it off.

So now I've put it back on ebay again making a point of describing that it's been refinished.

Thanks Andy,

Of course I feel obliged to point out that Woodbridge is so close - you know *nudge* if you ever get the urge for another Stingray :)

And thanks to Mick for the kind comments. Sorry about the confusion mate.
