NancyJohnson Posted July 14, 2012 Share Posted July 14, 2012 A looooong time ago I discovered Shudder To Think. They were a punky/math rock band from the US, with falsetto vocals. If you've got a penchant for two or three minute songs with more key and timing changes than you feel is conceivably possible during a two or three minute song, fire up your Spotify and listen to their Get Your Goat album. Even now I try and play along with a few of the tracks and struggle to work out what's going on. Wonderful stuff. Also, check out Tubelord. "in tune" in the evening throws up some fantastic performances and the early michael nyman i listened to this week has been some of the most arresting music i've heard in years. Their music ranges from humouristic folk-like stuff to Henry Cow live craze, and they know exactly how much to deviate from theory - both compositionwise and playingtightwise. I lurv them to death.
