Hey guys,
I'm afraid I'm considering moving on my Shuker 6 string.
Since moving down to London, I'm not playing nearly as much, this bass isn't getting the attention it deserves and I really need to release some capital so it might have to go.

Here's the specs...

6 STRING FRETTED SINGLE-CUT BOLT-ON CUSTOM

BODY >>
white ash body
squareish front edge (to mimic old slab style bodies) forearm contour, rear rib carve and rear edge rounded to 1/2"
dark amboina burr drop top
individual bridge units
17mm spacing
black hardware
2 X EMG 45DC - neck and bridge
18V shuker 3 band eq (internal gain and mid freq control)
satin topcoat

NECK >>
33" scale
24 frets
medium frets
5 piece maple/wenge neck
20.5mm deep at 1st fret, 22mm at 12th, gentle C profile, pretty slim
rosewood board
20" radius
dark amboina burr headstock veneer
gotoh gb707 tuners
57mm nut
carbon fibre neck reinforcement
MOP side dots only
two way truss rod
brass nut
satin finish

Here's some pics...

The bass in absolutely mint condition, however there has been a tiny bit of shrinkage/creepage/movement in the headstock veneer, not sure how this kind of thing happens.
It's only slightly visible on under the A string tuner, hopefully this pic will help show it.

The bass is a very compact instrument, partly down to the 33" scale and plays very nicely.
I'm only 5 foot 6 with smallish hands and had no problems getting around the bass, just for a sense of scale, here it is in use...

There's some sound clips here >>
http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/01DontLetTheDemonsBite.mp3 - Fingerstyle, front pickup, slight bass boost and a smidge of treble cut
http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/02ChordalPiece.mp3 - Fingerstyle again, back pickup with flat EQ
http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/03SlapandFingerFunk.mp3 - Slap piece and a bit of fingerstyle, both pickups, slight bass boost and some mid cut.

OK, like I said, this is a feeler for now, I just want to gauge interest over the next couple of weeks which will hopefully help me make up my mind.
I'm looking for offers around SOLD which will include a Hiscox hard case, which the bass didn't originally come with.
I'd be willing to ship at the buyers expense too.
No interest in trades whatsoever.

I'm going to be away for a week starting on Saturday, so if anyone gets in touch after Friday the 11th, I'm not being rude, I'm just not going to be available, so I'll reply to any posts/PMs after the 20th of March.

Over and out.
Eude

Doesn't really need mentioning (but I will) that Eude is a all round top bloke who keeps his basses in day 1 condish. He ain't a slouchy player either it has to be said. :)
I think I'm right in saying too that this bass is featured on Jon Shuker's site.

Cheers matey, very nice of you to say, but I am a fairly slouchy player :)
Oh, and you're right, it is indeed on the Shuker site, in the Single-Cut Gallery under "Custom" >> http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/scgal.htm
It's the only 6 string Bolt-On Single Cut Jon has done as far as I'm aware, a bit of a rare beast :)

I've had the pleasure of playing this bass: it's in superb condition, it's top quality and it's very easy to play. Eude's a complete gent too so you can buy in the confidence that you're dealing with an officially "decent bloke" as well.

It's got a string too many for me but the 33 inch scale was a revelation - it's just so easy to navigate.
This is so cool...

Is it fully active or can u play passive? Are the humbuckers switchable? How much does this weight?
thanks and good luck for the sale, this luthier seems real nice...
Glad you approve :)

The bass is fully active, most EMG pickups only run in active, as the pickups have an internal preamp which requires a bit of voltage, never mind the 3 band EQ.
The pickups aren't switchable, they just run as regular humbuckers, but can get a really huge range of tones. They're naturally quite bright and aggressive, but as you can hear from the samples, you can tame the tone nicely.
Just for info, they're these pickups >> http://www.emgpickups.com/products/index/126/29/2

Weight wise, I think it's about 9 lbs, not featherweight, but certainly not very heavy for a 6 string.
I can't weigh it properly as we only have crappy IKEA bathroom scales, not very accurate...

Cheers,
Eude

This is a stunning looking bass, I have a shuker and if mine's anything to go by this will be top quality and damn good price as well. Oh and I love to top, same wood as my Sei Jazz - beautiful.

EDIT: bloody spelling mistakes :)

I have a headless singlecut bolt on 4 that is the mutts to play. The spec of mine isn't remotely similar so I can't comment on tone but ergonomically these basses are amazing, they feel tiny (my 34" feels the same length as my Hofner)! Buy it someone? I'm bored of shukers ending up on the scrap heap for long times.

Lovely looking bass there man - if you don't get any joy here it's probably worth dropping by the Bass Gallery in Camden and selling it through them - they do take 15% commission but then it saves a ton of hassle and they do shift things all the time... lots of prospective buyers pass through there every day.

Just a thought

Thanks Mike!
Already spoken to Alex on the subject.
I'm away for a week as of tomorrow, so if there's still no interest generated on here by the time I get back, I think I'll take your advice and pop along and see what's what.

Cheers,
Eude

I doubt it will hang around, its a lot of bass for the money, what you got your eye on to replace it? another ACG?
