Fancy broadining my musical tastes and fancy trying out some solo bass music, anyone have any recommendations?? Looking for solo bass stuff, rather than lead bass with a group behind it :)
Possibly not what you are looking for but:

Bottesini - Three Duets for Double Bass played by Ovidiu Badila and Wolfgang Guttler

Bach - Cello Suite #1 played by Jeff Bradetich on double bass.
I had a Dave Holland album once, nice to fall asleep to, think its was called emerald something, double bass though not electric
Emerald Tears

Also One's All and Life Cycle (Dave Holland on cello)

I like Edgar Meyer's version of the Bach Cello Suites.

I'd recommend Zander Zon's album 'Sonorous'. He's written some really great music that you can enjoy as solo bass, but which you can also enjoy just as music - what I mean, is that it doesn't sound like a typical 'bass' album. Check out his YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Zander4724

I'd also recommend Michael Manring's 'Soliloquy' too - awesome stuff.

Most of Stu's stuff falls into the "incredible bassist as a band leader" category although he has done a few good solo pieces - Prelude in C, Moonlight Sonata, Dr Gradus ad Parnasum, November, Country Music etc etc.
