I think this one was on GBase some time ago and the description said that it had had some corrosive liquid spilt on it at somepoint...might be a different one to this but looks very similar. How do you get a bass into that kind of state? I can understand that the finish might wear in the areas where it comes into contact with moving arms etc., but how do you wear the finish off the whole front of the bass?
