1. A shame the CV's don't seem to be any lighter than 'standard'. I was hoping that they would be, given that they're basswood. Initial reviews I read claimed this and I've been craving one ever since the loss of my beloved '83 JV Squier jazz, exactly the same colouring as the CV Jazz, which does not help my GAS in the least.
 2. Hi bennifer is looking for such items for a college (in Farnborough I think). Here's the thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=61171
 3.
Tried a few pedals today. Some of the Electro Harmonix stuff was too fuzzy. The Boss OD was to harsh, but I was really impressed with the MXR blowtorch, when it's really cranked it does go a bit synthy. Plus the eq means I can get it to cut right through the mix. Thanks for the advice! I think I've decided on the MXR blowtorch, it's one of the few suggestions I was able to try and I was impressed by it. Ed
Glad I could help, let us know how it goes.
 4. Send a 20Kg used Peavey power amp via "Interlink Direct". They seem to farm the work out to other courier companies and in this case it was DPD. (-1) Interlink direct. It's difficult to find their number to call them and they stop answering phones an hour before the latest collection time, so you can't call them if your parcel isn't collected, which it wasn't. Having said that, once you actually get them on the phone, they are quite helpful. The email support service is OK but slow. (-2) DPD. Didn't bother to turn up to collect the first time. If I'd had to make the effort to be at home (8:30am to 5:30pm, talk about barn door!), I'd have been livid instead of just annoyed. Despite the amp being double walled with cardboard, then wrapped in about 2M of bubble wrap, they still managed to bend a wrack mount ear. Other than that, seemed to get there in one piece.
 5. You might try the MXR bass blowtorch. Not only can you control distortion/fuzz level but there's a blend too, so you can dial in as much or as little in. There's a 3 band EQ and a 3-way switch to let you select mid frequency. When I hit the the red button on the side I get mental, almost synth fuzz. Use it for playing Muse songs live and just as overdrive. I think it will sort you right out.
 6. Shame you're in S. Wales, would have had this.
 7.
How heavy is that case, complete with wheels? (Empty, obviously. )
Will weigh it and get back to you. No more than 10KG at the absolute maximum I would have though but will find out exactly.
 8. The more observant amongst you may also notice a price reduction to a measley £35. At that price, it's great just as storage!
 9. Bought a QSC PXL1202 power amp from Finbar. Great price and item, good communication and arrived well packaged. Would recommend.
 10.
i really really really would buy this.... but i wouldn't be able to afford a cab that can handle 1000W or 500W lol not the ones i want at least, (Ampeg SVT 410HLE or the one i really want, an Ampeg SVT-810E) i can't afford either either way, so this power amp would just collect dust for the best part if not all of 12 months plus =S
OK, fair enough. FWIW, you don't really need to run this bridged all the time. I've been been running just one channel of my power amp going into a single cab for ages without problem. With an 8Ohm cab on a single channel it produces 270W, which most fairly modern cabs can easily handle. It would be great to put a cab on each channel until you can afford the big cab. You can easily do this by using a patch cable to put it into parallel mode.
 11.
Is £100 a reasonable offer? =S (yeah, feel bad only offering that but thats ALL my money lol)
PM'd
 12. Bought a wilkinson P pickup off Kev. Cashed the cheque quickly and dispatched just as quickly. Pickup exactly as described and in full working order. Thanks
 13. Feel free to make me a reasonable offer.
 14.
most here would need to know what pup you have and what preamp you need a battery for if its your P then my guess you are using an EMG active....which means you cant get around without a batt if not then post more details ps...battery is active...no battery is passive...all that is needed is a by pass...scottie
Silly me, forgot to give details. There were EMG PJ actives but just swapped them out for a passive PJ set. I also had a spector tonepump (that I do have a wiring diagram for and have posted it here) which I've pulled out for the time being. Like I said, I need to know how to wire the bypass toggle switch back in. It looks like a fairly standard switch but seems to have 6 terminals at the back, the top two seem to have been soldered together so that leaves 4 terminals.
 15. I'd like to be able to switch my bass to passive from active, for times when the battery is low or runs out mid-set. This has happened to me recently and had to run outside to the car to fetch my spare! It actually already has the toggle installed but not wired in. Can anyone point me in the right direction? A wiring diagram maybe? TIA
 16. Was bought about 5 year ago second hand and immediately checked over/serviced by a sound and light servicing company. The tech there said "these are the best amps I've ever seen". Has been our primary PA amp ever since and stayed in our rack case. Has done at literally hundreds of gigs without any kind of problem. The sound quality is second to none. Those of you with stronger backs than me can naturally use this just as well as a bass amp as for a PA! We've just bought a more powerful amp and have a smaller one as backup so this is no longer needed. Features

Stereo mode: 550W @ 2 ohms x 2, 425W @ 4 ohms x 2 or 270W x 2 @ 8Ohms
Bridge mode: 1100W @ 4 Ohms or 850W at 8Ohms
THD less than 0.1%
Front panel has a rocker mains switch, a resetable circuit-breaker, an LED power indicator, and dual LED DDT activation indicators
The rear panel features 4 input jacks (1/4 inch) and 4 output jacks (1/4 inch)
Power Transformer Shielded. Dual Secondary Outputs, one for each channel
Each channel has its own independent Filter Capacitors
Compact heatsink force-cooled with 5" fan
Circuit Breaker on Front Panel
3U Height
20.5 Kg / 45 lbs
Stereo, two channel mono and bridge modes
In excellent cosmetic condition, with just a little rack rash and virtually no rust at all. Power cable has been shortened to about 1.5 feet, so is tidy in a rack. Can be lengthened if necessary. Can be picked up or delivered to (at fuel cost) North London or many locations in Essex. Manual available here. £145 o.n.o.
 17. This is now sold pending payment/collection, thanks for everyone's interest. That was a pretty quick sale!
 18. Bought this a few years ago unloaded but with the backplate/crossover still in place and bought some celestion BL10-200 to go in it. It's now a 400W, 4 Ohm cab. Really loud and deep. It's a bit tatty, with the covering coming up a the join, the metal corner protectors have done their job and taken the knocks and has at some point been left too close to a radiator, as the covering has a burn patch. The knob for the attentuator is gone but can still be turned easily and let's face it; how often do you do that? These things are pretty superficial and the cab itself is in solid and sturdy condition. Have added rubber feet to the side so can be used upright. If you don't like the sound of the drivers (literally), I'm told that eminence Beta 10's are a good match and have even tried some of the neo eminence drivers in there and there was an improvement in the sound. Looking for £45. Can be collected for free or delivered at cost from North London or many parts of Essex.
 19. Has grey rat fur covering and is 8U (14") and internally 19" deep. Was originally brough over from Aus and it has one of their funny power plug in the side toward the back. In excellent condition having been bought a few years ago but then never used. Latches and handles in particular are usually the first thing to go but these are in tip-top shape. £35 Can be picked for free up or delivered at cost from several places in North London and Essex.
 20. Both now sold, subject to handing over readies.
 21. Last reduction before eBay. Need to clear space, so grap these fine bits of equipment. C'mon, £45 for an excellent power amp??? Give your preamp more power or drive that extra cab! Forgot to mention that it can be picked up from or delivered to Enfield or various points in Essex.
