My CV Jazz, wearing Wizard 64 pickups, Schaller straplocks, and La Bella Black Nylons, weighs in at 8.9lbs
Very helpful, thanks. Not that much lighter than my P, which at 9lb 2oz I can't seem to play all night any more. Maybe I should just go to the shop and try a few out but it's finding that right combination of good sound an weight. I don't believe that the two are linked IMO.

Could some of you helpful chaps stick your CV Squiers on some scales and tell me how much they weigh, please?

Just walked into PMT in Romford and they had a Wharfedale Bass stack in there. Seem to have maroon / red vinyl covering and actually aren't that bad looking. There was a compact looking 1x15 and a 4x10. Best of all, the 1x15 was £129! Some youngster sales assistant was hovering over me, so didn't fancy giving it a whirl. Anyone tried it yet?

Time to face facts: I just don't play this, which is a crying shame. The reason I don't is that it's a little bit too heavy for me: about 9.5-6 lbs, which is just enough to bring out my neck pain. It's got a neck precision/humbucker pickup and a bridge jazz type pickup. A 3-way toggle switch controls the selection. There's 1 tone knob and an active / passive switch. The active circuit is 18V and a monster. The nut width is jazz sized but maybe a tiny bit wider. Will measure it if it's an issue. More images and information available in this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=398 Will swap for a Squier CV Jazz and then only if it weighs 9lbs or less. Would also be interested in a G&L tribute; I understand they come up at about 8lbs. Yes, weight very important. If you have anything of that quality and weight, then try me... As for price... That's tricky, as it's not mainstream and demand is unknown. £180 sounds like a good starting point. Please give me opinions whether it's too much or too little (by PM, naturally). Edit: for price drop.
As much as I love pre and power amp combinations, the Trace and the VT bass cover most of the ground I need covered, and the excess of valve guitar heads cover the rest. So this is spare. Fairly simple valve pre, 3 band passive eq, followed by a three band active post gain one, so can get trad and modern options from it. This is loaded with two JJ Tesla 12ax7. It has 1v and 3v outputs, so it can power valve slave power amps that need a lot of input.
3 band passive EQ? 2 pre-amp valves? Sounds like my v-type pre-amp and that sounds incredible. Augmented by the active EQ, the tone from this thing must just be unbelievable. Have a bump on me.

Any more word on this?

Bought an EMG P pickup from me. Very quick payment with bank transfer through UK bank account. Sending to Latvia also not much more expensive or aggro than sending to UK. Easy peasy.

EMG-P ** SOLD **

Bought a Gotoh 201 bridge from him. Good communication and swift delivery. Well packaged too.
-
Probably the tattiest EMG-P pickup you've ever seen. Was probably even painted at one point and there's string wear so previous owner must have been a heavy player. Battery clip included and the pots too, if you like, but you'd have to wire them up and find a capacitor from somewhere. Having said all that, they're in perfect working condition. Had them on a project last year that got sold off. £15 delivered
Might be worth popping yourself after 'waltsdog' - seems like a sensible route from SW London - N London/Essex - Cambridge then HTH, Ian
An eminently sensible suggestion, Ian. waltsdog, will be contacting you via PM.
I'd be interested too. Ware, Herts. So frustrating that it's so hard to get to try decent bass kit, as there's so much choice, but none of it nearby!
As I live in Enfield and gig in Essex, I would suggest being the conduit between crez5150 and Alec.

Bought new from the Bass Centre for over £60. Installed it in a project last year which got sold off soon after so used for less than a month, total. Perfect working condition and as new, bar some slight wear to the logo. Complete with everything that came with it: screws, wiring diagram, etc. Will include receipt. £30 inc postage to mainland UK.

Wilkinson P pickup [SOLD]
Sharkfinger replied to Mr. Foxen's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Stripping another project bass. £12 posted, with the wires and volume pot.
Good pickups, these, not to be under-estimated. Have a set which I've used in projects and they really nail the trad P sound. Sonically equal of the stock ones in my JV Squier P, with maybe a touch more output. You get a lot for your money. Also, from experience, Mr. Foxen is a good guy to deal with. -
Firstly, I had no idea what the problem was when I sent it in. Clearly, it was not obvious from looking at it so it couldn't have had that much spilt on it. Secondly, I wanted to post this as a warning to others of what to expect should a spillage occur, which I think is par for the course when gigging. Thirdly and most importantly, I expect something I've paid good money for to be able to cope with the environment for which it was made, which I don't think is an unfair expectation. It's by no means the cheapest floor tuner out there. Stylon Pilson and Dubs, in my defence you don't know the tone the news was relayed to me in. I'm a pretty laid back guy and it takes a lot for me to have a moan like this. In fact, I've never given a bad review for anything. Yes; they did fix it so I'm grateful I don't have to shell out for a new tuner but it was made very clear that it was done begrudgingly and that's what set me off. I remind you I had to draw their attention to the 3 year warranty period they clearly advertise in the first place.
-
I've had my pitchblack for about 14 months now and everything good anyone says about them is true: it's a great tuner. However, after that 14 months it stopped working. Sent it back to the shop, who sent it back to Korg. Korg told them it was 2 months out of warranty, which the shop passed onto me. This didn't sound right so I wen't onto korg site and saw that they offer 3 years warranty. I told the shop to get on their case and they did but Korg moaned that I hadn't filled out a warranty card but grumbled they'd take a look at it anyway. They then said there was a 'sticky substance, probably beer in it' which had stopped it working and this voided the warranty. What??!! It's a stage tuner! It goes on a stage floor!! Stage + floor = beer spills. Duh! My MXR drive pedal has the same crap spilled on it but soldiers on. They fixed it anyway, as 'a gesture of good will' so I can't complain too much but it was all done so grudgingly. So then, this is a warning: whatever you do, don't put this stage floor tuner on a stage floor. Especially if it's likely to have fluids anywhere near it, especially that notoriously 'sticky substance' A.K.A. beer.

Hey Alex I know I'm (hopefully) already on the "Midget T" tour but can I stick my name down for this one too? As you know, I have one of the first compacts and would love to hear for myself what a two compact stack will sound like! Am in the north London and Essex areas, if that helps put me on it's tour path, anyone....
