1. Bought a wilkinson P pickup off Kev. Cashed the cheque quickly and dispatched just as quickly. Pickup exactly as described and in full working order. Thanks
 2.
most here would need to know what pup you have and what preamp you need a battery for if its your P then my guess you are using an EMG active....which means you cant get around without a batt if not then post more details ps...battery is active...no battery is passive...all that is needed is a by pass...scottie
Silly me, forgot to give details. There were EMG PJ actives but just swapped them out for a passive PJ set. I also had a spector tonepump (that I do have a wiring diagram for and have posted it here) which I've pulled out for the time being. Like I said, I need to know how to wire the bypass toggle switch back in. It looks like a fairly standard switch but seems to have 6 terminals at the back, the top two seem to have been soldered together so that leaves 4 terminals.
 3. I'd like to be able to switch my bass to passive from active, for times when the battery is low or runs out mid-set. This has happened to me recently and had to run outside to the car to fetch my spare! It actually already has the toggle installed but not wired in. Can anyone point me in the right direction? A wiring diagram maybe? TIA
 4. Was bought about 5 year ago second hand and immediately checked over/serviced by a sound and light servicing company. The tech there said "these are the best amps I've ever seen". Has been our primary PA amp ever since and stayed in our rack case. Has done at literally hundreds of gigs without any kind of problem. The sound quality is second to none. Those of you with stronger backs than me can naturally use this just as well as a bass amp as for a PA! We've just bought a more powerful amp and have a smaller one as backup so this is no longer needed. Features

Stereo mode: 550W @ 2 ohms x 2, 425W @ 4 ohms x 2 or 270W x 2 @ 8Ohms
Bridge mode: 1100W @ 4 Ohms or 850W at 8Ohms
THD less than 0.1%
Front panel has a rocker mains switch, a resetable circuit-breaker, an LED power indicator, and dual LED DDT activation indicators
The rear panel features 4 input jacks (1/4 inch) and 4 output jacks (1/4 inch)
Power Transformer Shielded. Dual Secondary Outputs, one for each channel
Each channel has its own independent Filter Capacitors
Compact heatsink force-cooled with 5" fan
Circuit Breaker on Front Panel
3U Height
20.5 Kg / 45 lbs
Stereo, two channel mono and bridge modes
In excellent cosmetic condition, with just a little rack rash and virtually no rust at all. Power cable has been shortened to about 1.5 feet, so is tidy in a rack. Can be lengthened if necessary. Can be picked up or delivered to (at fuel cost) North London or many locations in Essex. Manual available here. £145 o.n.o.
 5. This is now sold pending payment/collection, thanks for everyone's interest. That was a pretty quick sale!
 6. Bought this a few years ago unloaded but with the backplate/crossover still in place and bought some celestion BL10-200 to go in it. It's now a 400W, 4 Ohm cab. Really loud and deep. It's a bit tatty, with the covering coming up a the join, the metal corner protectors have done their job and taken the knocks and has at some point been left too close to a radiator, as the covering has a burn patch. The knob for the attentuator is gone but can still be turned easily and let's face it; how often do you do that? These things are pretty superficial and the cab itself is in solid and sturdy condition. Have added rubber feet to the side so can be used upright. If you don't like the sound of the drivers (literally), I'm told that eminence Beta 10's are a good match and have even tried some of the neo eminence drivers in there and there was an improvement in the sound. Looking for £45. Can be collected for free or delivered at cost from North London or many parts of Essex.
 7. Has grey rat fur covering and is 8U (14") and internally 19" deep. Was originally brough over from Aus and it has one of their funny power plug in the side toward the back. In excellent condition having been bought a few years ago but then never used. Latches and handles in particular are usually the first thing to go but these are in tip-top shape. £35 Can be picked for free up or delivered at cost from several places in North London and Essex.
 8. Last reduction before eBay. Need to clear space, so grap these fine bits of equipment. C'mon, £45 for an excellent power amp??? Give your preamp more power or drive that extra cab! Forgot to mention that it can be picked up from or delivered to Enfield or various points in Essex.

 10. In the end went with a second-hand Spector TonePump, the original one without the trim pot. A nice chap at spector sent me the wiring diagram and I wired it in myself. After a bit of head-scratching, was actually quite simple. The output is just a little hotter than before but only takes a slight decrease on the input gain on amp. Warms my bottom nicely
 11. Amp Specs:

2x 525W/4Ohm
2x 350W/8Ohm
input sensitivity: 0.775V
short circuit protection
limiter
THD less than 0.05%/1kHz
Inputs: jack/XLR
outputs: Speakon & binding posts
19" rack/2U
depth: 44cm
Weight: 17.3kg
12. The t.amp TA1050 Power Amp First item is a 'Thomann Own Brand' Power amp. Made in China but pretty decent. Just over 1000W and under 16Kg, would work equally well as a PA or Bass power amp. Despite appearances, its hardly used. Bought as a spare for my band's PA amp, was foolishly (not by me) carried around without a rack case until I confiscated it and put it in one until I decided to carry my much lighter and smaller version of this amp so it could serve as a spare for both the PA and my rig. Don't be put be put off by these details, it's actually a very good amp! Just not being used for the reasons mentioned previously. http://www.thomann.de/gb/tamp_ta1050ii_endstufe.htm £153 new, will accept £45 o.v.n.o. Would prefer not to post, so you could pick it up from my home or can deliver to a reasonable distance in and around North London or the Essex area at fuel cost. Furman PL8-E Power Condiditoner Has 10 female output kettle lead connectors and a very long power cable. Works perfectly well, except the lights don't work, even with new bulbs. An email conversation with Furman revealed that the light function couldn't be economically repaired and I'm such a tart about these things. Am willing to post this, and will let it go for £30 inc postage. Will even include a male to female kettle lead connector to get you going.

 15.
I'd go for something like the Aguilar 2 band (the first version, boost only) or the East "stingray" two band. You won't have to boost the top end with EMG's, but they warm up nicely with a good low end.... I put the boost/cut version into a Warwick with EMG PJs and it was great, but I never used the cut function.
Aguilar 2 band as in the OBP-1?
If you dont want to fiddle on stage you probbaly wont like the East ACG. You might want something to tame the EMG topend a bit so an East BTB would work well i think. Bass boost only, treble cut and boost.
Acutally, I'm fine with the top end. Will check out the BTB. Thanks guys, keep 'em coming!
 16. I have this EMG PJ setup currently and although it sounds fine and dandy, I really wanted more 'oomph'. Now, I've tried Spectors in the past that had EMG and the Tonepump circuit and I've quite liked it. I see that there are a few Tonepump circuits knocking about and was tempted to buy one but have been advised that they wouldn't really the EMGs justice. The East ACG 02 in particular was recommended. With that in mind, I'm casting the net further and would like opinions on what would really make my EMGs sing. I'm after a great rock tone and I really can't be bothered to keep fiddling with settings on stage. I find a tone I like and stick with it and if I want to change the sound on stage, I'll usually change where I finger/plec the string. It would be nice to be able to change the mid if I'm really having trouble hearing myself but in those occasions, I can walk over to the amp and tweak. So here are a few I've been looking at: EMT BT/BQ East ACG 02 Aguilar OBP-1/2 Opinions on these or alternate suggestions please.
 17. Don't know if I'm adding anthing useful to this but I have an overdrive pedal that I alway keep in it's box wrapped in a platic bag in my gig-bag. Whether or not I use the pedal, I stick the box under the front of my cab. I seem to always get a consistent sound. Mind you, my cab and amp are ridiculously light, so even a empty box can do the trick.
 18.
I think that the pots can be easily removed and replaced so the holes layout shouldn't be a problem.
How exactly would the position of the pots be moved around? These look like they're set up for a jazz bass cavity. Mine is slightly curved, like a P bass cavity but rear routed with plenty of space.
