1.
Might be worth popping yourself after 'waltsdog' - seems like a sensible route from SW London - N London/Essex - Cambridge then HTH, Ian
An eminently sensible suggestion, Ian. waltsdog, will be contacting you via PM.
2.
I'd be interested too. Ware, Herts. So frustrating that it's so hard to get to try decent bass kit, as there's so much choice, but none of it nearby!
As I live in Enfield and gig in Essex, I would suggest being the conduit between crez5150 and Alec.
3. Bought new from the Bass Centre for over £60. Installed it in a project last year which got sold off soon after so used for less than a month, total. Perfect working condition and as new, bar some slight wear to the logo. Complete with everything that came with it: screws, wiring diagram, etc. Will include receipt. £30 inc postage to mainland UK.
4.
Stripping another project bass. £12 posted, with the wires and volume pot.
Good pickups, these, not to be under-estimated. Have a set which I've used in projects and they really nail the trad P sound. Sonically equal of the stock ones in my JV Squier P, with maybe a touch more output. You get a lot for your money. Also, from experience, Mr. Foxen is a good guy to deal with.
5. Firstly, I had no idea what the problem was when I sent it in. Clearly, it was not obvious from looking at it so it couldn't have had that much spilt on it. Secondly, I wanted to post this as a warning to others of what to expect should a spillage occur, which I think is par for the course when gigging. Thirdly and most importantly, I expect something I've paid good money for to be able to cope with the environment for which it was made, which I don't think is an unfair expectation. It's by no means the cheapest floor tuner out there. Stylon Pilson and Dubs, in my defence you don't know the tone the news was relayed to me in. I'm a pretty laid back guy and it takes a lot for me to have a moan like this. In fact, I've never given a bad review for anything. Yes; they did fix it so I'm grateful I don't have to shell out for a new tuner but it was made very clear that it was done begrudgingly and that's what set me off. I remind you I had to draw their attention to the 3 year warranty period they clearly advertise in the first place.
6. I've had my pitchblack for about 14 months now and everything good anyone says about them is true: it's a great tuner. However, after that 14 months it stopped working. Sent it back to the shop, who sent it back to Korg. Korg told them it was 2 months out of warranty, which the shop passed onto me. This didn't sound right so I wen't onto korg site and saw that they offer 3 years warranty. I told the shop to get on their case and they did but Korg moaned that I hadn't filled out a warranty card but grumbled they'd take a look at it anyway. They then said there was a 'sticky substance, probably beer in it' which had stopped it working and this voided the warranty. What??!! It's a stage tuner! It goes on a stage floor!! Stage + floor = beer spills. Duh! My MXR drive pedal has the same crap spilled on it but soldiers on. They fixed it anyway, as 'a gesture of good will' so I can't complain too much but it was all done so grudgingly. So then, this is a warning: whatever you do, don't put this stage floor tuner on a stage floor. Especially if it's likely to have fluids anywhere near it, especially that notoriously 'sticky substance' A.K.A. beer.
7. Plugged the holes and decided that I can't let it go now after the effort I've made, so am keeping it and finding a body for it. If and when I find a maple P neck I like better, might put this back up for sale.
8.
pm sent about neck
And replied to....
9. Was considering plugging the holes in case that was putting some people off but before I go through the bother of that, will throw this open to reasonable offers.
10. Hey Alex I know I'm (hopefully) already on the "Midget T" tour but can I stick my name down for this one too? As you know, I have one of the first compacts and would love to hear for myself what a two compact stack will sound like! Am in the north London and Essex areas, if that helps put me on it's tour path, anyone....
11. Price dropped to £60. Have 3 tuners and a Hipshot BT-4 drop tuner that I can include. Can include the tuners for free and the BT-4 for a reasonable extra sum.
12. Bump. Tuners available and bass x-tender (drop-d tuner). Give me a shout and we can work something out.
13.
You have PM
Have replied. Would also consider a swap/PX for a 5-stringer.
14. Neck is an all maple Mighty-Mite one, with a lovely grain. In the interest of full disclosure, will give a detailed description: has had a bass Xtender (d-tuner) fitted at some point but the holes will be covered by standard large tuners. Also, has been fitted to more than one bass and there are two sets of 'bottom' holes, which you may or may not need to fill. Also, a tiny dent on the front of the headstock, by the A tuner hole (pictured). This is barely visible and will be even less so once bushing is fitted and has strings on. Includes string retainer. Offers
15.
if they will fit a t-bird ill have them off you dude
PM'd String A D G extends about 4 inches past the peg itself so that it loops twice around the peg. The E string is a bit shorter and goes just over once around the peg.
16. My PC speakers died recently and was thinking about buying a new pair but remembered I have one of those mini hi-fi's lying about. Now, it would be a shame to have to set up the whole stereo when I just need the speakers but obviously I need a little amp. Came across this on eBay, which is ideal because I can leave the computer plugged in but can plug in an external source, like an MP3 player or my bass when learning songs. Anyone know where to get something like this in the UK? Have looked on Maplin, with no success.
17. http://eusing.com/CDRipper/CDRipper.htm This simple little program is much more than a CD extractor, it encodes WAVs to other formats as well. Have used this for many years for all my simple MP3 encoding jobs. The ID tagging is also fairly simple and easy to use. Audacity can be a bit inflexible with that. It's free as well, which is nice.
18. This brand new set was given these a while ago and finally put them on a bass yesterday and immediately took them off again. Too used to a lighter gauge now. Ends trimmed for Fender standard peg lengths, so should fit just about anything else. £5 delivered or swap for a nickel set of .100 strings.
19.
Do you know the heel size of this body? I have a neck that I could use with this baby.
Neck pocket and screw hole measurements are in the original post or have I misunderstood?
20. Unknown brand Unknown solid wood but very, very light Natural finish with some kind of gloss laquer P/J pup configuration Rear routed (no rout cover) 3 control holes on front Neck pocket measurements in mm: 62 W x 80 L x 13 D. A bit too small for a standard Fender neck Center of holes form a rectangle 100mm x 88 mm The photos make the difference in the pieces to be more pronounced than they actually are. £25 delivered or make me a reasonable offer. Would trade/PX for a bass neck, standard Fender heel size. Prefer P bass nut width but would consider others, especially with satin finish rather than gloss. Perhaps you have a whole bass you'd like to trade? In which case I'd be after a white one.
21. I'm clearing out a few things that I don't use any more: Lexmark X83 printer/scanner/photocopier. Tower PC. Reasonable spec (for about 5 years ago!), good graphics card. Small compact desktop PC (Compaq), fairly low spec. These are either going on eBay or on freecycle in the next week or so, unless claimed. Collection only but might deliver locally (North London/Essex) for petol cost if it's not too much out of my way when going to a gig. Not posting anything, so please don't ask.
